My sun shell took a shit just last month, and I cant trust mechanics lol this video is amazing, very crisp camera quality and just in time. Thank you guys!
I'm so glad we could help! It's always better to do your own work.
About to fly home to MD, swap a trans in my '02 WS6 and drive it back to Iowa. Wish me luck!
Nice! Hopefully our video can help
Howd it go
Cool video guys! Can't wait to see the install 😎
The vacuum hose up on top of the transmission where did that run 2..i see a check valve on the line aa well.. plz let me knkw as soon as possible
the whole reason I watched this was to learn how to deal with top of bell housing bolts,, you left that part out.
My name is tristan , i have a camaro and that pontiac ❣️
Dont you have to take the torque arm off because the trans is connect???
Great video! Love this
Thank you!!
what is that t line on the trans at the end it has a nipple and a long hose , where does it go to
How many hours would it take to remove and reinstall this exact transmission at a professional garage if the motor was already taken out? (engine being swapped out) Thanks.
If you have a lift and the motor is out you could have the trans out in 10-30 mins I bet.
What is with all the oil inderneath? Wheres that from?
These F bodies leak like a sieve. At the time the engine, transmission and rear diff were leaking
It's the same the 4l60 in the 3.8 engine and the LT1 engine???
I have a question I have a 2000 Firebird and the guy working on it has is trying to drop the transmission so that he can replace my fly wheel he can't find an another boltt I guess he thought has them all out but something is holding it is the another bolt hidden somewhere that hard tho find or see?
Is the converter unbolted?
@@JuryRigGarage yes..I asked he don't know what's up. I guess I should've took it to a professional.
I have a 97 firebird 3.8 with a 4 speed auto. I’m pissing trans fluid from the cooler lines on the transmission side. When I get under there I can’t get to them. Please help!
They are really tough to reach. I would recommend getting a floor jack under the transmission and unbolting the crossmember. Once unbolted, slowly lower the transmission. This should give you more room to reach the lines
Do you unbolt the shifter linkage? Or is it the part it’s attached to that pops off?
Was it hard to line up converter to flywheel?
Amazing video!
Thanks!
had a question as I am getting ready to take mine out of my 2000 TA, Ive seen pictures online of what the bellhousing looks like, and it looks to me that there are 9 bolt holes where Ive heard there are only 8 bolts that hold it on, is it possible the 9th bolt hole is for the dipstick tube? Thanks
9th hole I believe is a dowl, helps get the trans lined up to be bolted in
@7:35 in the video I see a jack that looks like it’s under the motor what was that used for? Or was that just used to get the transmission out? And since you lowered the transmission in the back did you have to disconnect any kind of hoses or radiator? And Did y’all lower it because the firewall was in the way for some of the top bolts?
The angle might be deceiving, I believe the jack was just resting on the subframe. Just for added safety. You have to lower the tail side to get to the top bolts from under the car. You do have to disconnect the transmission cooler lines.
Please help with top of bell housing bolts
I need help with mine also...I don't have 4tf worth of extensions
Was it hard getting those custom transmission lines ? Cause I’m dropping one now and I’m scared to cut the lines
One other solution is to replace the stock trans line with a AN fitting, these can be found on summit racing, amazon, etc. This allows you to use braided steel or twist-tite rubber line to a trans cooler.
Our solution ended up being routing the lines to the stock location on the radiator, then past the radiator to an auxiliary trans cooler, then back to the trans.
I got everything off I’m just having trouble getting that bell housing bolt in the corner of the driver side what size is that bolt
@@MrNecraigen when you did this where did you put the rear jack stands?
how did u end up taking off the lines?
They were a real pain to remove. You need to remove the clips first and then pull the lines out. Ours were stuck so ended up cutting them and replacing with -8 AN lines
What kind of transmission does a 1995 transam 350 v8 have?
4l60e
@@dnegel9546 thanks man! Much appreciated. Another question. What kind of transmission does a Cadillac 1984 Biarritz El dorado have?
How did the monster trans hold up
Still holding strong!
How long did it take to remove it?
Removing the trans took about a day. Now that we've done it and have the experience I think it would only take a couple hours.
Jury Rig Garage I removed mine in about 4hrs. Thanks for the helpful video
I think my front seal is leaking 97 firebird 3.8 was told motor had to come out so I guess that’s not true
What we showed is the rear main seal, it can be accessed once the transmission is removed. The front seal would require you to remove the balancer pulley. It's a seal around the crank area. You could do this with the engine in though, no need to pull the motor.
I need to swap out my 4l60e out of my 99 trans am too I had it built 2 years ago and I still keep losing my 3- 4 gears. How much was that 4l60 from monster transmission?
I believe it was $1800 no core charge and no warranty, they have other options though.
@@JuryRigGarage Im probably gonna go that route ive heard alot of good thing about them
@@martinez1701a or just get a 4l80
@@mikeverything4098 That comment was made over a year ago since then Ive learned how to build the 4l60e and do it better (in my humble opinion) I pulled my built one repaired it and thought to myself hmm I can do it better. Have one I fully built from a core I got for $60 it should hold about 500hp, the 4l60e I repaired is still holding up but ill still pull it and build it for my 95 yukon 4X4
@@martinez1701a can you rebuild mine
Will that fit my 2000 chevy Silverado
It should bolt up, as far as computer changes you'd need I'm not sure
Bro jacked it up from the transmission pan wtf
Thank you
You're welcome, glad we could help
how long did this take?
It took us a Saturday to get it out
@@JuryRigGarage thanks
Horses in the back
About time you Yanks got something that wasn't fwd. 😉 😹👍
Actually the majority of the cars in our group are RWD haha
@@JuryRigGarage as it should be. As the head of BMW once said. FWD is the work of the Devil! 😈😹
I'm pretty sure this has something to do with a car
Your not wrong.
Do v6 have a 4l60 as well ?
The V6's should have come with a 4L60E
