Hazmat suit is prime when you’re out and about as well, it seems to keep you dry, protects while hot wiring. I’ve become a big fan of it over the last few days
so far the best places for bases are #1. Maplewoods Mart #192 This is I think the best location (found on the main road between vet, and post office) Bonuses: Gas power supply on roof, plenty of space to add solar panels to tie into Generator, 2 covered gas pumps, 3 battery chargers to charge phone, gps, and tool batteries, 2 food wamers inside work and will make any food put inside HOT! and will keep most food hot and fresh. The large walk in freezer works and will freeze any foods put inside, has back breakroom area with lockers and bathroom and small area that can double as workshop. outside can be quartered up with walls making an area for farming, propane tank near by for refilling smaller tanks. Downside: being in Redford there is a Vet , and bait & tackle Champlain farm and the most advanced workbench at Issac & Sons and houses it is a far drive to get to the other areas, the roof access ladder can be a pain sometimes but once you learn when and where to jump it no longer becomes an issue. having to do runs to steal the workbench from Issac & son workbenches repair bench and tool box from Kline's Archery and the juice machine and second coffee dispenser that can be powered and used, also the ice cream machine all from Green Valley Market. Because of bugs with placing some items on vehicles can cause them to crash or move around and flip n' fly often destroying the machines I suggest using pickup and making multiple trips. There is no microwave there and for some reason you can not transport them on the vehicles like the other things. the multi burner coffee pot does not work and the coffee dispenser and juice dispenser will run out and at this time are not refillable. #2. Bowen Hill Park. Just discovered this today (found in the far east map north of Dam and south east of Green valley Market) Bonuses: Has solar Power already set up has 2 living buildings and a working kitchen like Bridge Hills Bar n' grill and American Legion Area can be fenced up in quadrants and has large in ground pool that can be used to wash self just going inside even after water turns off, the countryside fresh foods pantry, and Hardware stores resupply often and greenvalley market is not that far away if you need gas. and there is a playground to entertain the zombies and tennis court to help work on your swinging. Downside: outside having to use multiple buildings there is not much downside #3. 98.4 broadcast Station (found South East of Mud pond North of Maplewoods Mart) Bonuses: has own gas power supply on roof, easy roof access, lots of wile animals to hunt, easy access to champlain farm to the west along power lines, can climb tower and use higher platforms as safe spaces from Zombies. Downside: no easy access to gas, not really close to anything at all, and small building.
I'm set up at Bowen Hill. Wouldn't let me use the solar panels. Had to destroy them and build my own. One panel will charge the battery storage to 50000. A hint for food. Build a fenced off portion next to the damn to provide a safe fishing spot.
You should turn on the heater in the car when you are wet to help dry out and you should also travel all the way to the left of the map and check out the farm there are cows and pigs
You can clean up the blood and dirt using cloth scraps by themselves. no need for a towel. also you can wash your clothes from any sink instantly, but you will be wet.
store shelving nets metal scrap but also look into dismantling fences for wood, metal and nails or screws. anything to build up your supply of materials. also run through off stream and clean up the myriad of carcasses to freshen the air don't forget to loot them!
You know there's a button at the bottom of the inventory you can hit to transfer the whole visible list at once, right? Destroying the corpse makes you into a bloody mess. You destroy corpses and then track it directly into the house. Drag the corpse away instead of destroying and you'll stay cleaner.
Strangely enough, I manage to get a fair amount of screws by dissembling rulers in my game. Maybe you can try to look out for that on your loot run (at the school perhaps)
if you use the big box truck the biggest one you can move things near the door and as your moving it enter the back and you can place them in the back this works if you find benches you want and dont want to make them.
Use the cabinets by the door as a quick drop off and pickup of your everyday supplies. This should make emptying the cars way more easy. Also should help you carry less on outings.

the candy machine will dispense wafers and the nutty bar. I grab it and take it to my base as extra food like the vending machines except you cant transport them. also you can press middle mouse go into 3rd person then press T and you can turn camera and see your face.

Also wearing latex gloves while hot wiring will reduce shock.

The bodies will not disappear. It takes a few years for them to decompose.
Goto the school look for the janitor closets and you will find a few towels
Do the surgical masks protect you from the smells?
Last time you could clean up with the scrap cloth by itself. Maybe try that.
