It would be nice if you would give more information on the tool that you're working on.
And please do some verbal dialogue about it. 😁

Excellent restoration! I must have a drill chuck that is really rusted together because I have not been able to take it apart to replace the springs.

I was waiting to see how you're going to make the cap for the drill bit storage!
Because I need one for a Miller's Falls number 5.
Because when I got it at a yard sale it had a rubber cap off the bottom of a Cane or table leg.
It looks and works okay but I want to make it more original.

I made the cap on lathe and for the nut inside i ask to a friend to make.

Got the same drill, just does not look as bad as the before picture. Chuck you are missing the small cupped washer that is needed to transfer the closing force from the shaft to the chuck pole pieces, it is the diameter of them in the closed position, and then is sort of loose in the housing, having a dimple where the shaft runs on it so it sort of self centres.

    Is that a Goodell-Pratt?
If not then what brand is it and what model is it?

    • @WorkshopDC
      @WorkshopDC  2 года назад +2

      It is a orion one.

      @@WorkshopDC
I looked all over the Internet and could not find an Orion that looked anything like that.
That drill has a very unique pattern on the crank that I've only seen on Goodell and Pratt drills.
Orion may have put their name on somebody else's drill at one time. Companies do that sometimes.
But I'll take your word for it.

When Stanley bought out North Brothers manufacturing they put their name on the tools that North Brothers made.
And kept the same model numbers.

I don't know what that foreign language said!
I would like to hear some verbal dialogue so we can hear you talk about what you're doing instead of reading tiny text that I can't hardly read on my phone at all, specially when I'm trying to watch the video!
Silent movies are not very entertaining or educational.
At least I don't hear music so far, and that's a good thing.
