    Big G! You absolutely did not fail those trial shifts, at all mate.
    You gave it a red hot go and it sounds like the employers let you down with not providing any direction during your shift or setting out a plan for your shift so you can to be productive.
    Hope things are going a lot better for you now and you’re making enough money to cover your cost of living and some extra, so you can travel the country ✈️

      @@gregjameson327 Well good luck and hopefully something comes up. Far North Queensland probably gets busier in the dry season, when all of us southerners want to escape the cold. Maybe your hours will increase so you don't have to resort to OnlyFans :P

    Great video, as usual, always appreciate how grounded and aware you are! All your advice is very sound, I would add follow up with a phone call if possible an employer can then hear if you are genuine and flexible, and lead with the main criteria and key points! I have no doubt you will succeed in Australia! 🙋

    Congrats on your job hun. You're 100% correct with regard to relevant experience, resume structure and local qualifications. I'm in HR Management in professional services (legal, accounting) and overseas qualifications are not recognised without Australian compliance, which can take years in some professions. Melbourne or Sydney would be your best bet when looking at transitioning to a professional position 😊

      I’ve had my eye on Brisbane. Hoe the job market out there ??

    • @JBLegal09
      @JBLegal09 8 месяцев назад

      @gregjameson7338 both Brisbane and Melbourne are in construction booms. To get your foot in the door try an agency like JV Recruitment and register. Most head offices are in Melbourne or Sydney but if you want to stay in Queensland, Brisbane is the place. You may need to be flexible in locations initially as that will expand your opportunities and make you more attractive to employers. Also don't discount long term contracts, employers here look for local experience.

      @@gregjameson327 Greg, I am a Cairns local. For most of last year, hospitality here was crying out for staff. However, this has now changed and we are flooded by backpackers now, so i feel sorry for you. Mind you, Cairns is a tourist city, so every man and his dog comes here and looking for work. Thee are still worker shortages in much smaller and remote places; but that might be too much of a culture shock for many foreigners. eg you will soon appreciate the distances here . I know Australians who freak out if they have to travel 100kms from a capital city.

    You mentioned you had 4 trial shifts at a restaurant. This seems unlawful in regard to your working rights, keep in mind for future jobs here that all employers are bound by the Fair Work Commission regulations. It seems like that manager from the restaurant is quite dodgy. Trial shifts should only be one shift of 2-4 hours max.
