College Dropout Builds $30M Startup While Fighting Cancer | Jenni AI David Park

  • Today's story is about David Park, the CEO of Jenni AI. Jenni AI is a service that uses AI to help researchers and graduate students conducting academic research to quickly and easily find information and even generate citations. After its launch, it has successfully attracted 2 million users worldwide and has been growing at a rate of 15% per month, reaching a current Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) of $3 million.
His eight-year startup journey wasn't smooth sailing. He happened to meet an investor on a plane who invested in his idea, prompting David to drop out of university and start his own startup. However, what seemed promising quickly turned into failure. He went on to start new ventures but encountered failure again, not once but twice more. When interviewing entrepreneurs, you often sense a certain desperation, and it seems the more desperate they sound, the tougher their inner resilience feels. This story is a bit more raw and honest compared to others. Let's meet David in the video.
    00:00 Intro
    01:02 Chapter 1. Four-time failed college dropout
05:32 Chapter 2. AI produced a strange sentence
09:17 Chapter 3. Responsibility and Discipline
13:17 Chapter 4. Heaven and Hell

This episode stands out as the best I have ever watched on this channel! The depiction of David's numerous failures paints a compelling picture of the reality that 'startups are not always glamorous or filled with constant excitement.' I truly appreciate narratives like these, where founders put in immense effort to achieve success. Please do more such stories! Wonderful work!

In the same position, 6th year with startups and it’s been all 0s. Really gave me the inspiration to push on. Thanks for the super actionable advice man. One thing I noticed was that you always did the super uncomfortable things, I could never imagine myself bothering another person beside me on a flight for 3 hours, but I think I can now.

I pray that this always stays on RUclips cause this is disgusting that people with too much greed are fine with others not having a good life, I am talking about the dating app example, that problem have a solution and some people don't want it to be like that, they want the whole thing slightly off course so it never reaches to a solution, i don't know how to describe this but i really really appreciate what i got to watch here

This interview is amazing, like any others from the EO team. More often than not, start-up life is told as a miracle journey welcomed by flowers and victories, which turns out not to be the case 99% of the time. But Jenni's story is indeed a miracle on its own. Thank you for inspiring us! wish you all the best with your start-up and future endeavors.

After watching this video, I just thought that working in a company is not a part of life, but there is another life. Considering that life is a tapestry of emotions, including happiness, fear, sadness, joy and so on, it is easy to consider that people experience a range of emotions in their working space. However, the video let me realize that there are also all of the emotions in a company. Maybe that’s why some career stories become very impressive.

Still struggling and hoping to make it.
This story resonates with me so much.
When you get that doctor's call to tell you , in the most awkward way, that you got cancer.
The first reaction is not to cry, but emptiness. You don't know how to react. But since you are young, you FIGHT it with all your might.
Now in my case imagine getting such a phone call not once, but twice before I was 40. And then finding out you got Li-Fraumeni Syndrome that is a condition where your body gets cancer much more easily compared to other people. THEN, only then did i start to cry.
I hope I make it in life before a 3rd time cancer. Because I am not sure I can survive that.

While the story is actually cool, and the fact he goes into details (which is a breath of fresh air) to how his start up came to be. The biggest thing people need to retain from this is nothing, NOTHING beats luck when trying to have a business, if he was in the wrong seat, if the tweet just got burried in the millions of tweets etc....entrepreneurship may be a dream for most people, but onle a select lucky few will achieve it, while most will die up running towards it
