    This video makes me feel a little better and gives me some hope! My baby is 4 months old, he was born with the perfect head shape and now he’s developed a flat head which has been worrying me so much. We went for a consultation for a helmet and they were lovely and told us we should give it another month and see how he’s doing before making any decisions but I get very worried that his head shape won’t fix itself and will be permanent. Definitely going to give the tortle hat a try.
    Thank you!

    Ugh I wish I saw this video sooner. I have a 4 month old son and he’s developing a flat spot on his right side more prominent that the left it’s not too noticeable but now it makes sense! I’ve been using a swing and bouncer chair with him and I used it with my daughter who is now 17 months old she had a flat spot as well and I used the same baby so that explains a lot! Luckily she started sleeping on her tummy too so that helped and fixed it with no need of a helmet. Thank you for this video! 🙌🏼

      Thank you so much for your comment! At 4-5 months old it is still not at all too late to do something about the baby's routine and to help the head shape correct itself. My daughter pretty much lived in the swing for the first two months during the day too, but it is definitely not too late! You've got this!

    I’ve watched this videos a few times and thank you! My 3.5 months old daughter developed a flat head in the back of her head, due to spent too much time on her back while laying down also we put her in a swing. Now she’s doing a lot tummy time and not in her swing anymore, really hope her head will grow round as she grow up. 🤞

    My sons head is flattened on the right side so i try and keep it to the left as much as possible! I think it was also because he only liked my left breast so he spent a lot of time on his right side feeding on my left breast. If i get the tortle hat should i continue to switch his head from each side at night or put him mostly on his left since the right is the flat side?

    Baby gear vs. lying on their back? We all had swings growing up wasn’t the issue. Think it’s sleeping mostly.

      I agree. Babies are only to sleep on their backs, no sides or tummy. There were not flat heads 35-40 years ago, when it was recommended that babies sleep on tummy. We had baby swings, that wasn’t an issue. All my 4 babies slept on tummy or side. Perfect round heads.

    Hello Juliana I have just ordered the tortle and wondered how you used it with your daughter. Did you always place the fin over the flat spot until it had corrected and then start alternating which side the fin was on? Thank you..

    My son's 2 months old and he has flat head from the back.. I wanna ask if the head goes back to round shape as baby grows and sleep on different positions? He has developed back flat head cuz he lies mostly on the back ?
    If I don't follow any remedy.. will it get round on its own ?

    • @JulianaFrugalMinimalMom
      @JulianaFrugalMinimalMom  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the comment, the good news is that you caught it very early on. Based on my personal experience, I'd implement changes that I mention in the video as soon as possible. For us her head shape corrected, as in it became more symmetrical with the other side, but it did not become completely round again. With my second baby, i knew what to look out for and followed everything that I talk about in the video from day 1 and his head is super round, and no flat spots at all. I'm sure genetics plays a role, but I think implementing different things to avoid/correct any changes to the head shape made a HUGE difference in both cases.

      Yes certainly. You can do lots of tummy time and eventually babies start rolling over and their scull hardens overtime.

    Great video. I’ve only ever seen these baby helmets on American sites. It makes me so sad to see them on babies.
    I’m in Ireland. I have never ever seen them in the whole of Europe. So parents please don’t panic. Use a gentler method, like the one shown here. It’ll eventually right itself, as the begin to sit up in their own.

    • @JulianaFrugalMinimalMom
      @JulianaFrugalMinimalMom  2 года назад +2

      Hi Maria, I was putting in on her for the whole night and for naps too, we started between 4 and 5 months and it took about 5-6 months to correct the shape almost completely. I'd only do what you are comfortable with, normally they recommend babies not having anything in their cribs, so it's a risk, but this is what we did. I started out slowly though, with just during naps just to see how it goes.

    • @JulianaFrugalMinimalMom
      @JulianaFrugalMinimalMom  3 года назад +1

      Hi, thanks for your comment. I am not a medical doctor, but from what I know once people are about one year old the scull and other bones in the body harden, so it becomes a lot harder to modify the shape of the head by laying on it. From birth to about-9 months is when the scull is still "soft", which is why it's also the prime time to still do something to change the shape of the head. I hope this answers your question.
