- On the 18th of May 2012, Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall hosted a dinner at Buckingham Palace for foreign sovereigns and royalty in celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
Here the couple greet their guests, Their Majesties the King and Queen of Sweden.

I love Queen Silvia of Sweden. She's a German who married the Swedish king and is speaking English. She is an intelligent and lovely person. Camilla's hugs and curtsies to both the king and queen were great.
She is a german born to a brasilian mother, was raised in Heidelberg and Brasil, speaks fluently german, portuguese, english, spanish (graduated in spanish interpretation and worked at the Argentinian Consulate in Munich) and swedish.

When I was 17 years old and on a high school trip to an agricutural display in Toronto i got to shake hands with both Prince Charles and Camila Duchess of Cambridge. They were heavily guarded and a huge crowd following their every step. My teacher and I tired of following the crowd that prevented us from getting a good look at them happened to slip away from the crowd and proceeded to walk in the other direction of the arena. A couple of minutes later we realized that the Prince and the Duchess were headed right in our direction with the crowd and security guards behind them. We immediately stood off to the side and as they were about to walk past us i took a step forward extended my hand and said "Hey Prince how ya doin"? He smiled, shook my hand firmly and asked me what I was listening to since i had a ear piece in an ear connected to an mp3 player. I replied "Hip Hop music sir". He chuckled and the proceeded to shake the hand and acknolwdge my teacher as well. After the exchange my teacher immediately began to explain to me what exactly just happened and how out of protocol I was lol and that i was very lucky he even acknowledged me. I had no idea I was just a young black kid from the inner city. I was just treating the Prince although a Prince like any human should be approached with. RESPECT. Im a big fan of the series The Crown and after watching it I cant help but feel that the Royals at times feel part of a circus with no one real from the outside world around them. Id like to think that for that brief moment when the Prince and I met I somehow helped him feel human again.
Yes, the Prince certainly felt very human shaking your hand. However, Camilla is not the Duchess of Cambridge. That's Catherine, also known as Kate Middleton, Prince William's wife. Camilla is the Duchess of Cornwall, which is a slightly less important corner of Britain.

Well it wasn't much of a curtsy. At first I thought she just had a stiff knee.
Camilla is not royalty so she curtsies in accordance with many European traditions.
I had the feeling that Camilla was cheating when trying that curtsy. She grabbed King Gustaf's and Queen Sylvia's shoulders to help her bend her knee and to stand up back again on her feet.
Even Charles bowed, as he's not yet King.
She is pretty high up the packing order in the UK, so she doesn't curtsy to many people in the royal family....but has to curtsey all the time when she meets foreign monarchs
For me this is also history. The bounds beetwen GB and Sweden are strong. Both democratic and succesful Western countries.But also with a dramatic history.

Shouldn't Charles bow to both the king and the queen of Sweden and any other country? He's only a prince, not a sovereign.
One of the reasons why a person might not bow when meeting a sovereign is that they have already bowed to them earlier in the day. So if Charles had been chatting to Carl Gustav earlier, then when hr comes into the assembly, he is going to be greeted as "My Dear Cousin".

I doubt it. Camilla doesn't go in for hysterics, manipulating the press, lying to the press, her staff, The Queen's staff or The Queen or upsetting the staff so badly that they take her to an industrial tribunal for constructive dismissal. I'm also pretty sure that she hasn't hit him over the head with a bible whilst he was kneeling in prayer.
She supports Charles in his role and stays in the background. He is happier, more relaxed and engages better with the public.
She has less charm/style than Diana and that is why she does not out stage him. Diana loved Prince Charles and had he loved her back, she would have measured a lot more her performance, but it was not the case. Their loved destroyed her pretty much. Diana was full of potential, she just needed what she did not get. Still… I do not dislike Prince Charles; I just think it is sad and her life a waste, when it could have been so much more. She was an inspiration for so many.
