I`m from Serbia and this is my all time favorite player in the NBA. I didn`t know much about his stats but I really like the style. I find his style similar to Jokic`s except the dunk.
When I rank the greatest players ever, I have a separate category for centers. I'm a huge Larry Bird fan, and of course there is MJ, Magic, Lebron and others. But a great center can control the game like nobody else.
Obviously Jordan was a great player but he had a lot of help from officials he always got the calls about one-third of his total career points are from the free throw line
@@BartholomewSmutz Resorting to conspiracy theories, claiming Jordan "got the calls from the officials" is a desperate attempt someone uses when they don't have an actual argument against his accomplishments. Jordan intentionally drew fouls on a daily basis, tricking defenders into foul trouble-he literally practiced it, to confuse defenders. That whole "he got all the calls" is a sad myth.
Matthew, I was a diehard 1980s Showtime Lakers fan. I went to many of the NBA Finals games the Lakers played in at the old Great Western Forum against Philly and Boston. The 1985 NBA Finals where a 37 year old Kareem turned back the hands of time is one of my favorite memories. Remember, the Celtics had kicked our butts for over a decade and we choked in the finals to them in 1984. So when Kareem sunk that dagger of a skyhook with one minute left in game 6 and came running down court with his fists pumping I almost cried. It was the first time I had entertained the possibility of FINALLY beating the Celtics. I have really enjoyed your reactions to the greats of the past. Especially, Larry Bird and Wilt Chamberlain. Yes, Larry Bird is someone I hated 35 years ago. I feared him more than anyone. But now, he is one of my favorite players of all time. Keep up the good work!
People reference Russell as the greatest winner of all time......in the nba but Kareem is the all time winner in basketball at all 3 levels....high school college and the nba
I watched an interview with Kareem. During the interview they wanted Kareem to do some demonstrations around the basket. Although Kareem didn’t make any buckets at age 72 I witnessed him do a spin move that would have left any NBA center in the league today just standing there in there shoes. Now just think if he can move like that at 72 can you imagine what he was like at 28 years of age. I can because I witnessed it. Just unbelievable
It has been said that Kareem was really 7''3 1/2 in shoes. That's scary. He was definitely taller than Wilt who was 7'1 and Bill Walton who was listed as 6'11 but really 7'2. Walton always downgraded his height because he thought 7 feet was a stigma.
It is pretty funny that the old school Center position has the majority of people as possible Goats. Before Jordan really took over in the 90s Bigs were the key to the most successful teams
I say all the time the best arguments for the goat are Kareem,MJ and Bird in particular order but 3 different positions. You can pick any one of these 3 and if you will truly listen I can start putting up facts about the other 2 you will truly say”they really did that”. Great video great reaction
I don’t know why people skip over Kareem in the goat convo and just throw bron over him. It’s always been confusing to me. U can’t just skip over that long ass resume with no real reason as to why. And the media still holds a vendetta against Kareem so he always gets the short end of the stick.
There's obvious reasons why they skipped over Kareem. Kareem's GOAT case is heavily based off of hindsight. We're looking back and seeing that he accomplished all of these things. His basketball timeline wasn't well received.
@@x-man9473 bullshit. That resume is undeniable. It’s guard bias and the media doesn’t rock with his personality. Thus the reason why STILL to this day he is black balled from his pursuit of front office opportunities. Plus the nba does it’s best to push the drug riddled 70s era away. They almost never talk about that era.
@@TheIcemanthomas You can be in denial of it and that's fine. But I've done the research and watched the games. His timeline in the NBA didn't pan out as expected. After dominating in high school and college, his NBA career was looking lackluster in comparison. Either way, he's my 2nd all time because he's so great. But his timeline didn't pan out well and that's why he was overlooked.
@@x-man9473 6 mvps and 5 titles 2 fmvpa with 2 scoring title, a 2 reb titles, 2 blk titles, the most points all time, 3rd most blocks and rebound all time, and a shit ton of records and was the single best player for an entire decade in the nba bar none. And he’s universally considered one to the 3 greatest players of all time; to some he’s the goat. Please tell me exactly what was lack luster about kareems career. U sound stupid right now. U didn’t do any research whatsoever. U sound like wilt in the 80s trying to downplay kareems dominance. I’ll take the word of all time greats who talk about him and researchers like thinking basketball over some dude on RUclips spewing bullshit.
@@TheIcemanthomas So again. You're not listening to what I'm saying-considering you just repeated what I've already responded to. You clearly are gonna hear what you wanna hear regardless of what I say. That's fine. No need to get emotional. Enjoy yourself, kiddos
In my opinion, Kareem is the GOAT. I know the consensus is that Michael Jordan was number one, but I disagree. Kareem was 1, Jordan 2, Olajuwon 3, Chamberlain 4, Bird 5, Magic 6, Kobe 7, Russell 8, Duncan 9, Oscar Robertson 10. LeBron just misses my top ten; he's number 11.
With all due respect, Worthy was a replaceable part. Before he came, they won two NBA Titles with another Hall of Famer, Jamaal Wilkes. It didn't matter who they had at the other three spots on the floor (Spencer Haywood, Jim Chones, Mitch Kupchack, Kurt Rambis, A.C.Green, Jamaal Wilkes, James Worthy, Norm Nixon, Michael Cooper, Byron Scott, Bob McAdoo, Mychal Thompson). As long as Kareem and Magic were in place, the Lakers were always in the championship mix.
Well Kareem is absolutely in the GOAT conversation. There are only 2 other centers that belong in that conversation......,Russell and Wilt. Both Wilt and Russell were better defenders and rebounders and shot blockers ( though they did not keep stats for blocks back in the day). Kareem was the best scorer of the 3. Kareem was a better team player than Wilt. Wilt was the most athletic of the 3. There may be other folks that want to throw in Shaq, Hakeem, Moses. Those that really know the game realize they were a notch below. Still great but not GOAT material. I've seen them all. I played collegiately and scrimmaged against a few. Always at a game. Wilt story. Bill Sharman was coach of the Lakers. He invented the game day shootaround in the league. When Wilt did not show up for the shootaround, Sharman sent a ball boy to Wilt's hotel. Wilt told the ball boy to tell Sharman that he would show up to the arena only once that day....either for the shootaround or the game. Wilt had 42 and 19 that night.
@@CardShopReality Well....first of all, I love Wilt and Kareem as players! Much goes into scoring besides just raw numbers. Seeing both play, I can attest that Wilt got closer looks than Kareem. When Wilt averaged 50, he also averaged 40 attempts. The Most attempts per game that Kareem ever averaged was 25. Despite not as many close looks, Kareem had a higher FG %. I can argue either side to be honest, but the bottom line question is who would you rather throw the ball into with the game on the line and 10 seconds on the clock? In todays game. Both would dominate in todays game, but Wilt's dominance wouldn't produce the same scoring results he had back in his day. Nonetheless, he would be as dominate when factoring in all facets of the game...that means impacting the final result of the game.
Thanks for sharing the video. I'm definitely not convinced he's the greatest though. I know he came up clutch a few times but I just don't think he had the killer instinct. I definitely think he was top 20 all time but not the greatest
If he didn't have the "killer instinct" would he have come back in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on a sprained ankle to score 14 fourth quarter points (including the game-winning three-point play) to give the Lakers and Magic a 3-2 lead going back to Philly (in poker terms, Magic Johnson was playing with "House Money")?
He's in the GOAT conversation for sure!!
Jesus Loves you and wants you to accept him as your Lord and saviour

Olajuwon getting love 🤝
As great as Magic was he never won a championship without Kareem!
The NCAA banned the *dunk* because of Kareem.
I kept up with his career when I was only 10 in 1967 and had his poster on my wall
I see a lot of kareem in Tim Duncan
Bill Russell next
On one point I strongly disagree with the commentator: *The skyhook is very exciting to watch!* 😍
i used to think magic was better than kareem because kareem won 5 championships with magic. notice how i said "used to"
