      @@gavinsheridan4680 Cant go wrong with Kareem, the real points leader. All those guys have massive respect for each other. Thats the one thing that turned me off from being a Wilt fan. He never gave guys their flowers especially Kareem.

    I think the best case for him is that everyone he's compared to required certain conditions to be at their best. Teams were centered around one player and set up to exploit a single player's best talents. It was the exact opposite for Bird. He changed his own play to exploit his teammates' best talents. And, he knew how to get a teammate out of slumps when they were in them. A teamnate not knocking down shots like they usually do, he will pass up easy shots for himself to make sure they got easy shots and build their confidence up. But, he knew regardless of that, he was always going to be the clear option for game winning shots and demanded the ball at those times. It wasn't ego, it was just fact and it built his teamnates' confidence that no matter what, they were never out of the game. They knew they had the chance to win no matter how the gme was going. I grew up watching mostly the MJ era and he's still my favorite, but everytime i see these videos, it convinces me more that Bird was the best. Mchale and Parrish were great, but didnt their shooting percentages reflect no contest shots that Bird created for them? Passing up easy shots to get his teammates into the game as needed but his personal stats never changed. His stats were the same no matter what role he saw himself having to morph into to win. He was still going to give you triple double stats whether he had to be the PG or the Center. All that doesnt even include his hustle which was also the same no matter his role. There was nothing better than getting to watch MJ and Scottie to me, but favorites aside, Bird was the best. Shaq is a pretty cool guy, but he harps on not being MVP too much. If you're up 4 points with ten seconds left and have to avoid giving one guy the ball to keep him off the foul line, you are not an MVP. The whistle is what makes MVPs.

      6 minutes of straight full court assists in a passing video. Most players don't even have 6 minutes of total highlights. All in only 13 years

    Bird and Magic made basketball fun. Their overall impact on the game was infinite...I never witnessed such a high volume well rounded basketball IQ as Larry Bird's... his game was cold 🥶❄️ as ice.. My heros growing up were Larry, Magic, Dr.J, Moses and Kareem... that's the impact these guys had on not just the sport but the fans as well 👍 great reaction my friend

    I am part of the thought that you can't choose one player throughout the game's history. I am much more comfortable with picking 15 - 3 players at each position - the originator/standard bearer of the position, the best textbook example of the position, and the mutant/force of nature player at the position. Under that way of thinking, Bird is easily my SF "textbook" player, and just as other examples my SG "force of nature" would be Jordan, and C "originator" would be George Mikan.

    Whatever your opinion..they don’t talk about Bird anymore..but he is the only player in history to win Rookie of the Year..3 straight MVP’s..Finals MVP..COACH OF THE YEAR and EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR..it took Jordan 4 years to improve the Bulls record by 6 games in the win column…Bird took the worst team..a 29 win team..with Bird the only new player..his first year they won 61 games..best record in the league, but lost the championship game..Bird’s 2nd year…CHAMPIONS..6 playoff years..Michael is 0-6…he never beat Bird..that’s sad for a lot of people to hear..after all, MJ only started winning those 6 rings when Bird retire Feb 4 ,1993..MJ set a playoff scoring record of 62 or 63 points, but the Bulls still lost the game..by 3..two years straight the Bulls were swept by Boston..founder of the 50-40-90 club..imaging half of every shot you took…going in..and almost perfect at the free throw line..you knew they were not gonna foul him if they could help it..90%…about 20 assists per game between 5-7 steals a game..and uncanny passing..they said he shoulda been a quarterback..and still played 7 years in a back brace because doctors could never stabilize his back..and played 13 years with a dislocated finger on his shooting,hands forefinger forever frozen at a90 degree angle toward his thumb..something the doctors could never fix..played against the Pacers in the playoffs with a broken right cheekbone..double vision and a concussion..that happened during the game going for a,loose ball, then came out of the locker room to score another 17..these are facts..the ROY season..he won that over Magic..and Magic said Bird was the best to ever play the game..he soon we forget..my guy, Wilt went to my school Kansas..and is the only one to score 100 points..and average 50.2 PPG in 1962..the man who invented the game..James Naismith..was our first coach..and is buried beside his wife in a Lawrence, Kansas..the original Ten Rules of Basketball are on display in a building beside Allen Field House..these are facts..

    If I had to rate Larry all time solely on stats, analytics, longevity, era, +/- (I have my own equation for that lol) he would be top 12 for sure. If I add his basketball IQ and heart/drive/toughness/dedication? I pick him #1 in any pickup game out of all players ever.

    I hate Luka and Bird comparisons because Luka is a great player, however, Luka does not make the players around him better.
    With that said, Luka has 0 championships. Hate to say it but, Magic had a better team in the 1980's. If Bird was on the Lakers at that time, Bird may have won 9 Championships. The west was very soft compared to the east. Bird would have been healthier because of a soft west. It is a shame we will never know.

    If Larry had a showtime lakers or 90s Chicago bulls or curry’s golden state warriors calibre type of team he would have won twice as many championships. The Boston Celtics was a good ol boy’s team with old fashioned players which Larry would have had it no other way but the fact of the matter is his team was outmuscled by these more athletic ball clubs obviously the 80s Celtics did fine 3x champs but I felt he could have done more a lot more if he had more talent surrounding him . For example if he had a fraction of the 92 dream teams Talent (David Robinson, Charles Barkley) with his leadership qualities there’s no telling what he could have accomplished.

    My Top-11 list is Wilt, Michael, LeBron, Kareem, Bill, Magic, Larry, Tim, Shaq, Kobe, and Dream.
    With the NBA Finals completed, it seems that Jayson Tatum's career goal is to get on the Celtics' Mt Rushmore. Two spots are set in stone, and two spots are up for grabs.

      @UnconventionalReasoning 2 месяца назад

      @@patinho5589 Yes, absolutely Larry and Bill. I have only a peripheral familiarity with Russell's teammates to know if any, such as Havlicek, are strong contenders. McHale definitely is a strong contender. Garnett's best years were with the Timberwolves. I don't think Pierce is really there. McHale is probably the easiest to add to the list.

    I’ve always said it this way. It depends on the game. If it’s 1v1 I would probably take MJ over Bird, but if I had the first pick in building a team I would pick Bird first. Not only was he one of, if not the greatest, of all time but he elevated everyone else’s game around him better than anyone else before or since.
