thanks man, as someone whose been a good painter with brushes but absolutely new to airbrushing your videos have helped massively getting over the fear of messing up, all tips appreciated
You've taught me everything I know about airbrushes. I watched this video two years ago and I soaked my airbrush after every session and never had issues. UNTIL, I hit a hobby wall and got depressed. Completely forgot to take my airbrush out of the solution and accidentally let it sit there for MONTHS. it was absolutely dead, still need to get new gaskets for it lol. But I've upgraded since and since I don't airbrush every day, I take it apart after every session, put it in the solution, do a once over with a toothbrush, let it dry, lube it, put it back together, and it's ready for the next session
Love these videos, been a veteran for a few months now. You are "literally" the reason I bought an airbrush this summer, I've learned a ton from these tutorials, keep up the great work. Super stoked for the kick starter. #BringinHobbyBack
Thanks for posting this vid, Kenny! I keep having issues using vallejo and citadel paints with my H&S Infinity. I've used airflow improver and switched up the air pressure on the compressor, however, it continues to clog up after a few minutes of use. Too unreliable for precision work and I was in the market for a new airbrush. Just picked up the Eclipse and couldn't be happier. The shot glass technique is also nice trick.
I once made a big mistake with a brand new badger patriot. I left it overnight in an ammonia solution and when I came back the next day it was coated with a green corrosion. I found out later that the air brush is made of chrome plated brass, and ammonia causes corrosion in brass. Now I use acetone (nail polish remover) when the brush needs a really good cleaning, and for day to day cleaning, just water and airbrush cleaner. EDIT: Also, I use simple green sometimes. I've had good success with that, but you've got to make sure to clean all of it out before you spray any paint.
nice tricks :) I recently bought an ultrasonic cleaner, something like $30 from amazon, and man that has been such a life saver when cleaning the airbrush. basically just let it do its thing for 12-15 mins and every thing is very clean.
Awesome videos, Everything looks so easy that I can't understand why my figures don't look that good. I have a problem, I clean my airbrush every now and then with an ultrasonic cleaner. most of the time it works really good but sometimes when I do the gang trick (blocking the tip to push the air back) paint bubbles out from the base of the trigger. I've tried to put it apart but can't find a tool to unscrew the hose plug. What can I do?
Theae are excellent videos! I've learnt quite a bit from watching MANY of your videos, but if i could make one small suggestion... And that would be to please slow down just a bit, so it's easier to understand what you're saying. You have a low-tone, like myself, and while i understand you're trying to get the info out as fast as possible, i find myself having to rewind over and over to hear what you've said. lol Please note that In no way am i trying to be condescending, just some constructive criticism, because you're one of only a few dudes that tells it like it is 😎 The videos are legit and on point and I've learnt much more from your videos than many others... Awesome brother and thanks for the help and hard work you do in putting out content thats not only infornative, but really works!!! "SUBBED"
Great video. How about in between colors? have you covered that? I'm super excited to start using my new IWATA Eclipse but I'm trying to make sure I have the maintenance down pat before I dive in.
Thanks for a useful vid! If I may ask, what is the nozzle size in this airbrush? And is it the only size that you're using, or are there other sizes (and what are they)? Thanks!
Need your help Kenny. I wish I’d watched this six weeks ago. Long time frustrated Eclipse user. Switched to Sotar 20/20 and my first few projects went well. Somehow the Sotar clogged two weeks after purchase and I couldn’t get it to work. Sent the whole thing back to Badger and they replaced the needle sleeve and the tiny pad below the trigger. Worked fine for two days then clogged again. Paint will not come out. Cleaned it with airbrush cleaner by Vallejo reassembled and got a smallish spray pattern using high pressure. No distortion on needle tip. Kenny I am ready to trash the whole thing. Any suggestions for getting this unclogged? Thanks in advance for this great podcast.
hey man how do you feel about thwe Iwata Medea cleaner? same thing as the Vallejo you use? Can i use it the same way and let it sit in the 50/50 liquid to clean? also what about the Iwata flow improver like Vallejo? just as good to make the gumbo?
Next Level Painting Awesome. Just got my setup in yesterday. Haven't even set it up. Been mad watching you videos to feel comfortable going in. Do you recommended me shooting anything thru the gun before I actually load t with paint? Should I also oil t all up to before hand? Thanks man. Loving you videos.
Kenny, I just picked up an eclipse and it's a little different then yours. Do you modify the part at 7:38? Mine has a screw on the underside of the body so that it doesn't come out in one piece. Also the lever that rests against the trigger isn't attached on mine.
Thanks for the quick reply! Just getting back into the hobby after a few years off and even bought an airbrush to learn airbrushing. Was asking because I've never used the solvent as a lube before and usually used the oil as lubricant and just wondering if lube/solvent in the parts would affect the paint.
Hey guys been using the airbrush for about three years mostly on models but am trying my hand at the artsy fartsy stuff and thought I'd say that Windsor and Newton brush cleaner is kick ass for acrylics and illustration inks. You may have some tell you that things like brush cleaner might eat seals on your brush and some say the same thing about using windex to thin paint, but after three years they have yet to damage my 20.00 airbrushes or my Sotar.Ha if you have a needle dried in the tip soak it in a cap full over night and like magic! with no damage.
Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. Plus it will definitely eat any rubber parts like the seal at the bottom of the air needle compressor assembly.
"Be gentle on the tip" Always good advice. Awesome video. Keep it up.

Still the most engaging airbrush intro on the platform.

+CanadianBeerSucks Thanks my man! Drops tomorrow at midnight
Just primed 4 large figures and large base. Going to follow your rules for cleaning. Will leave the airbrush parts overnight in solution awesome

+Aaron Wolbach simple green is a good option
Thanks for hittin us with some knowledge man. Good stuff.
+Alfred Bonnabel i got your back alfy b
Excellent video. Detailed but not complicated.
your videos unlocked all of my airbrush questions! Excellent! BTW, what about the air valve?
nice tricks :) I recently bought an ultrasonic cleaner, something like $30 from amazon, and man that has been such a life saver when cleaning the airbrush. basically just let it do its thing for 12-15 mins and every thing is very clean.
+chemonized yep, i have seen them. just never bought one
+chemonized Do you drop it in piecemeal or fully assembled?
+CanadianBeerSucks most days fully assembled. for a deep clean break it apart
I have Iwatas that Ive used for years day in and day out that still work perfectly. An airbrush like an Iwata HP-CS should last a lifetime!
+Jeremy Hetrick well, mine don't haha.
The next airbrush you decide to dump give me a yell.
Kenny this is the best air brush vid I've seen! I've shared it in my 40k group for those with airbrushes thanks!
Really like this vid. I have been thinking, at 6:30, won't you end up spraying bits of oil onto your miniature?
sweet video. my cleaning regime is the same, but I'm clearly a noob as I still have the end cap on. looking forward to your tips about needle access.
+Paul Gibson haha coming soon

what are you using for your air supply for the air brush? Also is that air brush good for someone just starting out?
+David W small cheap compressor, like 80 bucks. Yes i recommend this to people of all skill levels.
Great video. How about in between colors? have you covered that? I'm super excited to start using my new IWATA Eclipse but I'm trying to make sure I have the maintenance down pat before I dive in.
Iwata Eclipse for the win! That's the same airbrush both myself and my fiance use. Awesome cleaning tips, dude!
+Hydra Three-Four best brush around
Thanks for a useful vid!

Enjoyed every minute. Thanks for the solid tips. Ill be giving the Hoppes #9 a try.

"Marine style" Haha, exactly what I was thinkin before you said it. Great video man. Look forward to future streams on twitch!
+Nos2113 Thanks breh! lol
Great stuff Kenny. You got to hang upside down blindfolded and put it back together. Any tips for a bent needle?
+familyofgamers777 always
"Get all that excess bullshit out." Your use of highly technical vocabulary is one of my favorite things about your videos.
Very useful as always. Thanks very much!

Next Level Painting happy new year brother

Hey man! Great job as always. Just a Q: is that a Iwata Eclipse HP-CS 0.35?
+Giacomo Kuroda yes sir

Great to see your cleaning ritual, I shall implement :)
Hoppe's 9 solvent is a cleaning solution, should I be using their lube to lubricate parts instead?
I have not had a problem using it as both
Thanks for the quick reply! Just getting back into the hobby after a few years off and even bought an airbrush to learn airbrushing. Was asking because I've never used the solvent as a lube before and usually used the oil as lubricant and just wondering if lube/solvent in the parts would affect the paint.
Is eny of the oil having eny effect on the paint?
+Nodwick123 not that i have noticed
Is Hobbe #9 Solvent the same as Hobbe #9 Cleaner?
Which Eclipse airbrush do you use
I was at Adepticon 2007... I didn't know you were there too...
:)
I cant find that hoppes no.9 solvent anywhere. Any help is much apreciated.
amazon?
Any local gun store should have some.
I'm from Spain, I dont know if that specific brand is sold here in Europe, but I guess if it's not there would be other similar options.
Love the tutorials! Hate the highlights. :P
Sage advice man!
+d davies i hope it helps
the rust in your airbrush must attract paint buildup. right?

thanx for the learnin bro.
+Jugger G i got your back my man
When he said clean all of it, why didn't he include the air valve in the bottom?
went through your airbrush? cant you just get replacement parts ?
yes
hoppes#9 eats brass and makes chrome/nickel peel
Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. Plus it will definitely eat any rubber parts like the seal at the bottom of the air needle compressor assembly.
Heard astro glide is good lube?😳
Jman👀
Saw someone use natural beeswax as an o-ring in a video here on youtube...not sure how wise that is but /shrug
How many fucking adverts????
fixed
Next Level Painting you are a fucking legend. Good man
