Pretty insane how much work Nick Aldis put into making this belt mean something again only for them to have one of the least talented wrestlers of all time hold that belt hostage for damn near 300 days.
I hope EC3 has a good run. Thom Latimer and Matt Cardona seem like the top challengers at this time. Tyrus' time to retire had come. No hate to the man....
at the point jarrett started to had any say in the storyline it went downhill.. why would they even share it with TNA, dumbest decission.. i read the comment before and thought the WCW thing was probably the time where it became a joke but i was wrong...
The 90's and when NWA ended their agreement with TNA. That was truly a dark age for the NWA championship, nothing but nonstop jobbers holding that belt and devalued the hell out of it.(despite the fact I love Adam Pearce in the WWE as GM) Nick Aldis literally brought that belt back to life for awhile, with an assist from Tim Storm
For most of the title's history it wasn't tied to a specific territory. That really started with JCP and WCW. And of course they didn't learn from that decision or ECW.
How does it not occur to the people who make these decisions that putting the title on dudes like Rob Conway is a terrible idea? Like, the guy couldn't beat a soul in WWE, but he immediately beats everyone in the NWA. Way to make your guys look strong...
hey man are you pro wrestling history? if you that channel, i just wanna say that welcome back and nice to see you again. if not, can you make stardom belts history? if you do that i subscribe your channel.😊😊😊😊😊
Nick aldis and Cody managed to revive the titles worth during their feud but overall the titles been dead since wcw formed and even while it was on impact it was just a midcard title
I know why they keep using the classic NWA title design but any point they can go back to using the big gold/ a version of it because non wwe logo version of the big gold are public domain.
If you ask Flair, he's something like a 23 time world champion. It's complicated with all the phantom title changes. For example, Flair had to make an audible and drop the belt to Carlos Colon so that he could get out Puerto Rico alive. The title change (much like Backlund's WWWF title loss in Japan) was never recognized or acknowledged on television.
Early on, why did Harley Race keep losing the title for like a week, just to get it right back and sometimes hold it for over a year? Matter of fact, what's up with all the super short reigns followed by all the year plus reigns?
I'm guessing the week long reigns were heels but usually those are used to transition to another top baby face and not just the same dude over and over again
MONEY! Baba paid the NWA big money to hold it while Harley was on tour over there and then drop it back when Harley went back to the States. This is how NWA built up AJPW against NJPW back in the 70s as NJPW had a working relationship with WWWF that bolstered their standing. The one where Flair dropped it to Harley and Harley won in back in less than a month was a South Pacific tour and that was all Harley's idea which led to sellouts. But who in the NWA was going to 'scold' Harley Race? LOL
hahah what is this giant baba guy has it for like 2-5 days every time and then comes race and takes it for a years and then baba comes again for 2 days ahahaha

@@justawesome275 I'm looking forward to what comes next. Tyrus' body had enough by this point, and retirement was wise.
Thanks for this man

The fact that raw and smackdown General Managers both held that title
Christian and Cody being their last mainstream champions is sad
Nick aldis made nwa title popular
Who else should they have put it on?
Nick Aldis was a hell of a champion
That was a great video you put together, good and accurate.
I was surprised at certain people being NWA World Heavyweight Champion.
Thanks to acknowledge my work
Adam Pierce had a lot of NWA title reigns, did not realize that.
@@garyrossetti2443 The NWA was founded 1948, Orville Brown was the first NWA champion. Car 🚗 wreck ended his career.
@@jamesrichardson3322 Way before I was born NWA been around a lot of years.
Can you spot the point where the title became a joke? Hint, it was well before the Bruce Tharpe Era.
Shane Douglas
For me it was definitely the era after TNA ended its association with the NWA.

If not Shane Douglas, then Sabu for sure. Embarrassing. Then, Shamrock and Ron Killings. But, maybe that's because of his wwe characters.
4:30 It begins!
Oh damn what’s up savox? Love the channel
Would have been cool to have what promotion that champion was in as well.
For most of the title's history it wasn't tied to a specific territory. That really started with JCP and WCW. And of course they didn't learn from that decision or ECW.
Dude they made tyrus a champion. Rob conway is better option than tyrus :v

Ultimate NWA Heavyweight Title Please
Ric Flair is the last NWA Champion.
The last TRUE NWA champion, right?
Fascinating.
i like this dai sentai soundtrack
What happened to the last two years?
I know why they keep using the classic NWA title design but any point they can go back to using the big gold/ a version of it because non wwe logo version of the big gold are public domain.
I would like to see the final minute of the matches when the title changed hands.
Kinda went down hill somewhere around the
TNA departure.

Maybe EC3 will help bring it back
The title means nothing nowadays
Ted Turner's first mistake was disassociation with the NWA.

Ric Flare was a 5x champion not 6, but 6:16 says six also so it's on track.
Awesome video though, thank you for putting it out.

Lou Thesz is just Heavy weight version of Dean Molenko
😂
Did anyone count Vacant's title reigns? It's gotta be up there.
So Bob Ross won the NWA title on August 26, 1979?
i knew aldis was nwa.. never knew adam pearce was an active wrestler lul
WWE two authority figures held the NWA title 😅
Ahora falta q Roman reinngs gane ese titulo
