I think it works b/c RoboCop technically still has some human parts. The exact wording of the time sphere's usage in the first Terminator movie is "nothing dead will go." As long as organic life of some degree is detected, the rest goes too.

The T-800, T-850, and T-888 Terminators built for infiltration missions use flesh coverings that vary based on Model number, but I don't know for sure if it's just skin, hair, eyes, and muscles for the Terminators to use as a human disguise, or if it also includes organs that enable eating. Makes sense if they did, since the flesh would still need nutrition to survive.

The only way you can even spot a Terminator before it starts killing people is either to start damaging it heavily, or have a dog sniff it out for you. Watching the first Terminator you can get it, because Arnold needed organic tissue to use the time machine, and it helped him sneak around in plain sight to have human skin. Getting shot, bludgeoned, etc. would help to sell it. If Terminators didn't have blood/organs, people would be able to detect them with a simple "here cut yourself with this knife and see if you bleed" test.

gotta love how that compact lever-action rifle is somehow capable of deleting an entire torso with a single bullet... although making its violence so over-the-top is arguably what makes mortal kombat fun, having it realistic enough that it gives you that visceral thrill whilst being so far detached from reality that it makes it comical instead of disturbing, I think there’s a general problem in media with an idea that we have to make violence more ‘realistic’ to appeal to edgy audiences despite the fact that real violence is just disturbing...

It’s interesting how similar yet different these two characters are. They’re both cyborgs from a distopian future but while Arnie has human skin but a completely robotic skeleton and is more of a computer than a soul, the only human parts Murphy has left are his skull, his face and his brain, yet he is still a human with a human consciousness. Also, Murphy still feels pain and emotion while Arnie does not.
The two fight in the comics, then in the video game of the same name, then in the death battle, and then here in Mortal Kombat 11! Their rivalry just might live on forever!
