This was an amazing journey to watch. It felt almost cinematic, with the struggle Doug felt in round 1, the way round 2 almost fell apart because of pachinko and wheel RNG, and the triumphant redemption against ski ball in round 3.

Dark souls is literally super easy to understand. Fire = divinity, there are four upper lords and one lower lord. The four uppers are Gywnn, Seeth, Nito, and the chaos bed. The lower one is the furtive pygmy who the opening narrator dunks on. The four upper lords take some super bright Fire from the first flame, while the pygmy takes "the dark soul" (roll credits) which he then spreads to his offspring, a.k.a., you! Basically every humanoid you come across in the game (that're around the same size as you, big note here), is a descendant of the furtive pygmy! "Oh but what about becoming a hallow isn't that a bad?" I hear you asking, but don't worry! We'll get there! ... just after we talk about religion.
The First Flame, named so because it is, is analogous to both time, and life. If the flame were to extinguish, death and time would mean nothing, KIND OF like how it already doesn't in the game! Now Gywnn, big flame papa, he ain't about that. So he makes his church, the white gold covenant, go out and brand humanity, all of it, with the dark sign. Just as it looks, it is literally burning your soul away, your dark soul, there fore you need to steal more of it from your kin, aka popping one of those little black ghosties. If you don't, then you'll go hollow, loosing all sense and resemblance of humanity, even if you were to regain the bit of the dark soul you lost.
Now I bet i know what you're thinking, "why did I just waste ten minutes reading this, when I don't even know who the bad guy is anymore?" Well I'll tell ya, but you're gonna have to work with me here. See, I explained earlier time doesn't really matter anymore, right? And that time wouldn't really matter after the flame goes out? Well that's half right. See, time wants to keep moving forward, and the fire kinda has to go out in order to make room for the next Era, the Era of men, and you remember how Gywnn was super not about letting the fire die? Yeah that's why. So not only, does he make his church go out and make everyone hollows, but he also makes up some super flowery legend about rekindling the first flame so that way his Era of the divine, never dies. That's right, there is no such thing as a chosen undead, you. Weren't. Chosen. You were tricked. Deceived, by that which you've already killed by parrying him 37 times in a row and shoving your fist into his stomach you cocky challenge runner you! Gwynn may have led you on this path, but YOU are the one who walks it, YOU who steps into that flame, and seals the world's fate into this endless cycle! And even if you do decide to go through the dark path, walking away from the flame, and let the new dawn rise! But for every one of you who takes that detour, 10 more take your place on that dreaded fools errand, thinking they're the only hope for this doomed world, that you know all too well is thriving.

dude that fishbowl gambling game is THE WORST at actual arcades. you have to rely on other people to also play, and to play a LOT. basically, impossible to win unless you want to spend all day and all your money. i swear someday i'm gonna make an arcade that only has fun & fair games in it
