Description of Pizza Tower (from Steam):
Pizza Tower is a fast paced 2D platformer inspired by the Wario Land series, with an emphasis on movement, exploration and score attack. Featuring highly stylized pixel art inspired by the cartoons from the '90s, and a highly energetic soundtrack.
Peppino Spaghetti, a surprisingly agile and powerful fat balding italian, is on a mission to destroy the titular Pizza Tower in order to save his restaurant from annihilation. Follow him through his rampage across the many wacky floors of the tower, collecting toppings and beating up monsters!
PLAY as Peppino Spaghetti, the supersonic italian middle-aged man! And sometimes Gustavo.
EXPLORE up to 5 floors leading to many levels, discover all of their secrets!
FIGHT some monsters and other weirdos!
DESTROY everything in your path, including those stupid rats.
BECOME the Pizza Tower!

My channel generally focuses on a more casual side of speedruns. With these videos I want to show off cool speedruns, explain how they work, and entertain. Hopefully you enjoy the content and maybe even take up speedrunning yourself, because it is truly a lot of fun!

Sonic constantly punishes you for going fast, but in pizza tower, you're constantly motivated to try and always go fast

@@Jerry_the_jerry you constantly have to stop to dodge or kill enemies, that does not feel fun at all, that's my opinion at least
Here are some easy time saves:
5:45 You can actually hug the wall and do a bodyslam, wich will immediately damage pepperman istead of having to wait for the taunt to end then fall and hit pepperman. For some reason, even if he hits you before hitting the wall, you wont get hit if you're bodyslamming while hugging the wall.
8:54 Instead of shoulder bashing (the thing that cancels a super jump midair) to the right, you can wait a tiny bit longer and shoulder bash left and climb the wall.
9:19 Instead of waiting to leave the vertical tunnel, soulder bashing, waiting for the cheese blocks to dissapear and then go for the pizza box, you can SB (i will be calling shoulder bash SB from now on) left in the vertical tunnel and wall-climb up to go below the cheese and avoid having to wait for it dissapear.
38:37 If you slide into noise right as the fight starts, you can get a free hit on him.

In pizzascape he can also do a downward thrust instead of hitting the walls while in the knight power up, it isn't a huge time save but it's way more satisfying that way
oh and I'm pretty sure there's a glitch where you can skip the cutscene for the end of each level by standing in front of the exit going into the menu and holding up while pressing exit level

12:47 If you're going for 100% or 101% the eyes count towards the completion percentage and you need the treasure on top of not dropping your combo for the P rank which getting all of them gives you 101%.

@@BattleForA3DS Those are required for a P rank but you need the finish the level first or clear the tutorial fast enough to open up all of the Lap 2 portals. And the 2nd lap is the most obvious tell due to it usually being in a cubby during the escape sequence.
You need all P ranks AND chef tasks for 101%.
@@GabrielAidley You're first incantation that there is chef tasks is the steam achivements page and each floor has one with the staples being getting all S or P ranks for the floor and finishing the boss without taking any damage.

Fun fact about Noise's fight!
You can actually smack him before he performs his first attack if you're fast enough. HOWEVER, if you take advantage of this, the first attack he skips will ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS, be the first skateboard attack, 100% of the time. I think it's been coded for him to always skip that exact move...
Can't wait for you to speedrun Pizza Tower with someone else on Swap mode if you decide on doing that. And let’s face it there aren't that many Pizza Tower swap mode video out there so it would be cool and fun for you to do one with one of your buddies.

Ok, so there's advanced movement tech in this game: Insta-turning.
While Mach Running, if you jump, grab, and continue to hold forward, you start something called a Fast Walk. You'll be at a high speed without needing to be in a Mach Run state. If you press the Mach key while fast walking, your horizontal speed will convert to a Mach Run stage from 1 to 4.
HOWEVER, if you move in the opposite direction and hit the Mach key on the same frame, you will Insta-turn. It's exactly what it sounds like. You'll keep all of your speed and retain your Mach 4 state if you had one before as well.
Now, pressing two keys on the same frame is nothing short of impossible, so this is where Taunt Buffering comes in. During a taunt, you will be able to hit any movement key without performing its action. The keys you have held down when the taunt ends will move Peppino accordingly. In a fast-walk state, you can Taunt Buffer to Insta-turn with a hefty margin of error.
HOWEVER, there is an even faster form of buffering: Pause Buffering. It has the potential to be much faster than Taunt Buffering, but only if you pull it off right. While the game is paused in a Fast Walk state, you can switch movement keys quickly, Mach Run, and then unpause in rapid succession, allowing for a much speedier Insta-turn.

one of my friends is a top 3 speedrunner of this game so glad to see it on here! the tech this game has is insane, props to you for learning it
amateur pizza tower speedrunner here; this was honestly a pretty entertaining watch (although i do speedrun 100% rather than any%). you did a great job explaining your strats and moves to an audience that might not fully understand the full moveset of the game
if i could recommend a few tips; first, if you grab in the air when you're nearing the ground (ie, jump then grab), it's a nice way of quickly building speed if you're unable to slide. using that also leads into the fact that there is a much quicker and snappier method of turning around as peppino; using the grab move to stop yourself in the air mid-dash, you can simply press the grab again in the air to grab the opposite direction and build speed much quicker. useful for dead ends with pillar john in them such as the areas he's in in john gutter and bloodsauce. although there are much better ways to instantly turn, the one i detailed is definitely the most simple. finally, remember to super taunt more, it wipes out every enemy on screen!! it's most important use is to save combos in 100% runs, but even just wiping out some enemies (like that one room you were having trouble with in peppibot factory's escape) makes things a whole lot easier sometimes
well done for giving the game a go, i think it's fun as hell to speedrun even if you don't know absolutely everything you're doing. would definitely recommend trying noise whenever you feel comfortable!

I just recently start tuning in to a Twitch streamer that speedruns this game every day, I love the animation and sound design in this game, so it's awesome to see one on your channel.
I usually just skip 3 toppins in oregano desert, skip oh sh*t entirely, and preform golf skip, leaving me with just enough money to fight pizzaface
but my Quick file had a time of 1:50 because I was going for the treasures and snotty approved in that one.
Really nice seeing you speedrun this game, I came back to pizza tower after the noise update and started completing the remaining achievements and done P ranks. With Peppino I only have the last floor remaining to have a 101%, meawhile with Noise I am currently trying to get 2 remaining clothes

I like how Peppino is so "oh HELL no" about the boss-rush trope at the end that he just starts wailing on them and doesn't even give them a chance to go through their usual phases...
I hope you do one for the noise soon or even do a swap mode speed run for the heck of it.

26:04 For another path you didn’t know existed, you can climb the wall to the left after you start this level and it will lead to a part in the wall with a dash panel and a large topping.
it’s so much fun watching speed runs of games i’ve never played. i’m not brand-new to Pizza Tower but so much of what i see here is nonsense without direct experience lol

I really like the TV screen of Peppino when you get the Shotgun.
Also, some other things: Peppino punches pizzaface into obvlivion because he threatened him to destroy his pizzeria.. That's why Peppino went into the tower in the first place.

Good to see a video of you again and I remember this kind of nostalgic game. It's interesting how some of the sound effects remind me of Friday Night Funkin' which is another game that was trending at one point. I like how this is a mix of Wario and Papa Louie with how it has those great and nostalgic gimmicks/mechanics and visuals/songs. 🍕🤩

Pizza Tower is a game that is very beatable, where the real challenge is to perfect the movement and level knowledge for that sweet, sweet P-rank for every level and boss. Best feeling in gaming, I wager.

The instutatern ( idk the name but I think it’s that one ) makes u so fast when u hit pillar and it makes when u turn the instutatern can make your momentum will be here and it will be 2x fast

Time saving trick: Any sort of attack with the Grab Dash button allows you to pick up a bomb, so all you have to do in this section is press Up & Grab to uppercut into the bomb, where Peppino automatically picks it up without passing through the semi-solid platforms.

you can block and parry any projectile or damage by pressing parry button before getting hurt?
