- the artifacts i use are glass, command, sacrifice, kin, swarms, dissonance, soul, death, and frailty. glass and command are self-explanatory, sacrifice is so i can get items (i need at least 10 razorwire for phase 2 of the boss), kin and swarms make the teleporter bosses free with tincture+razorwire as well as giving me more items, dissonance is so i don't get hermit crabs on stage 4 which spawn outside of my razorwire aoe, and soul is fine because the wisps are harmless and shoot me which procs razorwire, as well as giving me more brooch. death and frailty don't do anything.

For it to count, you have to show the ening to your previous try and the beginning of a new one. Anti-splice measures.

@@buttrockman4578 it's not to prevent splicing, but to prevent seeding. if you mod your game to seed runs, starting a new game will be on the same seed.

You know, now that I think about it... For a game that is centralized around beating it within a timeframe by nature... This is the first Speedrun I have seen of this.
There hasn't been a true ending until the final release of the game for any% purposes.
@@ShiningDarknes Jeah but that hasn't stopped speedrunners before tho. I mean there are some ridiculous categories for Platformers like Mario Odyssey (like a run to get the speedo the quickest) or Metroid...

This game has a TON of speedrunning potential for the sheer amount of categories and I cannot wait to see how far it will go :)

sadly it has literally to none potential just because there is only one legit tactic. get the lunar items to speed up the teleporter. thats it. even the last bossfight is the fastest with loader.

@@AndreOliveira-bw2np The game has not had a true ending though. Obliteration technically kills you so while that was the target since that was all we had in early access the game now has an actual ending for any% purposes. unfortunately these first amazing runs are essentially invalid because Hopoo decided to make the boss have an invulnerability state before the last phase so this strat is no longer possible. It is still possible to get a better time but it would require way more rng.

When he picked up that crowdfunder I almost lost it.
He has the artifact that removes chests and makes enemies drop items, he has almost no use for money at all. Crowdfunder is actually really strong in that scenario.
I think it's mostly used to cut time on the end of the TP as opposed to DPS. It cuts the money > XP time out completely which saves a few seconds.

Look for the particle effect
usually just go to the opposite side of the map from where you spawn and look for the orange/blue particles

All you have to do is punch at the apex of the grapple swing. Try it

Just want to point out that getting energy drinks over 1x stack over hoofs is sub optimal because that 16% speed gets multiplied to 20.6% while running

Tincture + razorwire is something i've never thought of doing
subbed, super entertaining run and excited to see how you can improve it!
and depicted, is the biggest flaw and greatest thing about ror2 over ror1. with the exception of miner (who nobody remembers), every character in ror1 was limited and relied on their ability to run or use i frames. in ror2, the levels are larger and acrid has a gun now

I'd like to know, what was that part at the very end where it looks like you're going the wrong way for a second and then the game teleports you to the end? It was kinda cool and I'd like to know how that works
when you fall off the map the game tries to put you back in a logical spot. if you punch all the way out there the game will think you fell from the initlal platform somehow and put you back there. i still have to explore to see how early i can fall for it to warp me to the beginning though

@@Cabbage123 I noticed that it puts you on the closest platform. I often cheese the way to mithrix by dropping down from the main bridge onto the small crevice, walk up as much as I can and then fall to spawn on the final platform before boss. I do that when i want to avoid the creeps on the bridge or when I run immobile survivors

Bought this game 2 days ago, have 15 hrs on it and I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THIS VIDEO, but I can appreciate this speedrun nonetheless.
Damn, I can't even find the portal sometimes within 9 minutes, it took me like 30 minutes just to get to the last area but you did it within 9 minutes

You should do a Monsoon, No Artifact speedrun i think it would be a good general hard speed running category.
It would be filled with RNG, on top of the RNG this run already has with the lunar shop, Sacrifice drops and teleporter placements. Nobody would want to run it.
At most Monsoon w/ Artifacts would be most bearable

Do you think that artifacts will have their own category compared to the base game?
i would personally never run a category without artifacts unless lunars are also not allowed. because of focused convergence, any run which does not get 3 of them in the first bazaar would be an instant reset. that's a bit too much rng for my liking

This run has my mind blown at how well you memorised map layouts
portal spawns are random on each map, though theyre generally across the map from your spawn point, if you know what to look for, its easy to find it.

@@bipolarmaniac116 that's not really my decision to make. i personally wouldn't be interested because other characters would require a ton of rng in terms of item drops for speed, hardlight afterburner etc. but i suppose others might find it fun

monsoon speedruns are actually the exact same except for the first stage, where you can't get hit as much or you die. you 1shot everything because of the artifact of glass, not because it's on drizzle instead of monsoon
@@Cabbage123 really, even the last boss with the exploit being fixed? Its just a bit more impressive is all... cuz i can easily beat this game on drizzle, but me and my friend (I pretty much always play 2 player with my buddy) are still trying to beat that bastard on monsoon.
I guess ill have to wait a while cuz I cant find any mithrix speed runs on monsoon :/

@@danm2084 i know it's the exact same because i got a 9:03 on monsoon. i didn't upload it because there's no category for it on speedrun.com and as i already said, it's the exact same. what makes this run unimpressive isn't that it's on drizzle, it's that i have a bunch of artifacts enabled which makes the game really easy
@@Cabbage123 ahhh i see. Was it from before the boss exploit got fixed too? Is that not really even an issue either cuz you can just kill him really fast when he gets out of invincibility? Cuz it seems like it wouldnt be possible to do it nearly as fast on monsoon now just cuz of how much health the boss has and how it takes your items (but ofc ill take your word for it if its still just as easy, as im just a pleb) Thats the real thing I look forward to in future runs.. people dealing with mithrix without being able to cheese him.
I feel like purity is overlooked in speedrunning, 3 of them and you cut your cool down for loader all the down to 1 SECOND for his third we giant let and grapple. It should be a must imo instead of having to stack back up mag, you could use them for more movement spd
But purity is lunar item and all of it used for tp time reducing
@@mrgenry6055 there are 5 items in the shop now, allowing for 3 focused convergence, 1 purity, 1 helfire tincture. Other speedrunners than Cabbage do take purity

you could make this slightly faster by selecting a goat's hoof and a boss rounds on stage 5, you'd get more sprinting move speed from 1 energy and 1 hoof and the boss rounds would shave off 3 or 4 seconds on the 2nd phase of mithrix

for jellyfish you want to let the non-glacial ones go inside the teleporter zone before you kill them so you can grab item drops while it's charging
