Please read: Thank you to everyone who has commented regarding the pelvic floor exercises. While pelvic floor exercises can work great for some people, I'm learning they shouldn't be performed by everyone and can actually be harmful to some. Please do your own research and consult with a professional. Everyone's body is different. I'll make sure to be very careful whenever giving health/medical advice in the future.
There are generally two categories of people(except for those who had invasive surgeries in that area and may constitute special cases) - 1. Those who would benefit from strengthening pelvic floor muscles. 2. Those who would benefit from exercises aimed at relaxing and stretching them. The second category is for people who have constant tension in their pelvic floor muscles. For some people these muscles are chronically tightened and they never relax. Although these people would be harmed by exercises aimed at strengthening these muscles even further, they can benefit from relaxing them. Pelvic floor therapists for men are unicorns, they mostly don't exist. Realistically, as a man, you will have to self-diagnose and self-treat.
Key takeaways from this video: 1) Don't overshare. 2) Maintain integrity, even when no one is observing you. 3) Advocate for yourself. Don't just take meds that you are not comfortable taking just because they are pushed on you. 4) Don't be afraid to ask tough questions.
@@LanaBlakely you have to be careful with the pelvic floor exercise, it is beneficial for some who have a pelvci floor that is too relaxed, but I learned that for some others who already have their pelvic floor already too stressed it can be damaging. I recommend listening to the huberman podcast episode on sexual health, they touch on this in details and it is very useful information :)
I really find comfort in your videos. I do watch other youtubers like WizardLiz and Tam Kaur (no hate to them even they have help me SO MUCH) but you just feel so safe and I love watching you videos through. I never feel like I am any less just because I watch you videos on how to get better. I feel okay and accepted about the place I am in today and get renewed motivation to do better! Thank you for helping me. You really are the elder sister we all need ❤️
FOR THE ANXIOUS GIRLIES: and pelvic floor health. If you're clenching your pelvic floor all day, similar to having your shoulders in your ears all day.. LEARN EXERCISES TO RELEASEEEE THE PELVIC FLOOR.
It's definitely good advice for men too. Even if not applicable to men, they can know how to better support the women in their lives, whether their girlfriend/wife, friends, sisters, etc. And if it's too weird, refer to Lana and other knowledgeable experts 😊
I love your videos and agreed with most of this, but strongly disagree on keeping everything in a relationship completely private. I think it's incredibly valuable and reassuring to be able to open up to a friend outside the relationship when you need a sanity check or to know you're not alone in feeling or experiencing something difficult. A good friend will know not to judge your partner entirely by their worst days. And if something good is happening in the intimacy department, I think it's fine to share with a trusted friend so they can be happy for you! We can always adjust the level of detail but I really think sharing with friends is important and needed to help keep ourselves and our partners accountable and to ask other's opinions and perspectives because we all have relationship blind spots and nobody knows everything. Also, a friend can keep us in check if our partner is *not* treating us well. Sometimes this is easier to see from the outside.
True!!! But the thing that we have to keep in mind is : "a trusted friend" as u said. I've definitely made the mistake of sharing too much info about my relationship to people I'm not that closed to just because i was going through a lot. But in the future, I'll keep my mouth shut and only talk to loved ones. Not everybody needs to know my business
She did mention that if you feel unsafe or spot red flags then you should share and get advice from the people you trust the most. The point is not to share too much unnecessary stuff. There will be conflicts in a relationship which you both can resolve by communicating without including a third person. Because it happens sometimes that the person you are sharing may not grasp the idea totally and tell you something which may affect the relationship. Moreover I have seen boys sharing intimate moments with their friends including how some specific body parts of their partner look like. To me it's very disrespectful.
Great video, though the oversharing point is tricky because getting out of an emotionally abusive situation where gaslighting is prevelant is tricky. Oversharing is a lot of people's first step towards therapy, and I don't think that's such a terrible thing as long they get the help they need. Particularly with dudes. So that last little bit you threw in is incredibly important. Very solid advice in this video.
1)know your body- keep track of your menstrual cycle, understand the hormone fluctuation, vaginal discharge etc. Do pelvic exercises. 2)privacy- dont overshare. Not in case of seeking comfort tho. Dont tell everyone your business. 3) coordinate and dress up. 4) integrity- make sure your actions match your word- be it for yourself or someone else. If you cant, inform them and make up to them. Dont cut corners. 5) make your own decisions regarding birth control. Learn, understand- your body and the way. Dont blindly follow. 6) ask questions- be it leave or promotion or raise. And in relationships too. Stand up for yourself.
Pelvic pts usually don’t recommend stuff like Kegel exercises as they more often than not lead to too much tension. When it comes to your pelvic floor exercise, a healthy diet and good bathroom habits definitely do the trick. And if u have issues u should go to a pelvic pt of obgyn
The last part is my favourite! Like how you said to ask the partner if they want to be committed in a relationship and looking forward to marriage. I have always wanted this. To be in a serious relationship. At the same time I also fear that this question might scare my partner away, but I guess if my partner truly loves me then he wouldn't be afraid of this. And I also agree with keeping things private because I have seen how much it affects relationships in a negative way when you share even the most trivial things with others.
Great video on cultivating confidence and self-care! These habits can indeed make anyone feel more empowered and self-assured. Loved the emphasis on setting boundaries and self-love. Keep up the positive vibes.
this made me realise that I’ve been doing literally everything you mentioned without knowing that they are actually good habits instead I always used to criticise myself for being private about the details of my life and I do not prefer birth control either, etc. but thank you so much for this
Pelvic floor strengthening exercises are not right for everyone as some people have pelvic floor muscles that are too tight (it’s commonly seen in people who have chronic constipation, or chronic pelvic/vulvar pain). Strengthening kegel exercises can make their conditions worse. They benefit from the opposite (pelvic floor stretches that loosen the floor muscles).

hey! Lana. I have been your fan for a while, and love all your content. I have a little request can you talk about female friendship? As a female myself, I always have difficulties keeping female friendships than my friendships with my male friends. I had a couple of very long female friendships, like years, but ended in betraying, backstabbing, and jealousy.... I had to block them in order to keep my mental health and self-love. my friendships with guys are way easier and happier.... more direct like I apologize if I made a mistake, and everything will be fine after. but with females, it took a very long time to reconcile the friendship..... I am INFJ as well, very sensitive, and very loyal to my friends once I fully trust this person... I am just so scared to open myself to any females as close friends. but only okay to be an acquaintance.. if you can make a video about it, to share your experiences and advice, or opinions. that will be great! I hope that you can see my message! xo
Hi Lana! I'm Faye from Cebu, Philippines 🇵🇭 I love your videos so much esp. these kind of videos. Pleaseeee continueee making videos!! ♥️ I don't have an older sister and a mom to keep me aware of these kind of topics, and I found your videos helpful to me. ❤
Thanks so much for this video Lana! I love that you mentioned pelvic floor health! I just wanted to share my experience as a 26 year-old woman who has never given birth and warn that pelvic floor strengthening exercises can be very detrimental to some of us. Many of us have hypertonic pelvic floors without even realizing (i.e. our muscles are contracted all the time/ very tense), we go on the internet and kegels are recommended left, right, and centre. But for many of us with this hypertonic issue, we should be practicing pelvic floor release and focus on deep breathing every day. So in summary, some of us need strengthening, some of us should refrain from doing anything, and some of us should be focusing on release exercises. Pelvic floor physios can help you determine the best exercises for you. If there is no access to a physio, some further research on the internet can help.
This is great information!! I always assume people will do their own research when it comes to any medical/health related advice, but I’ll definitely make sure to verbalise it in the future just in case. ❤️
Idk why this makes me teary, maybe cuz i have no sisters my parents divorced and i live with my dad and two brothers, my mom is away, SO ANYTHING FROM ANOTHER GIRL ACTING LIKE MY BIG SIS OR MOTHER MAKES ME WANNA CRY BUT F IT I DONT CRY
I gotta say, integrity is something I do fully even when someone doesn't deserve it that much, I always keep my word unless it's not safe. I prefer always being true to myself and what I value and it's basically one of the things people most admire about me. honestly it feels like I needed to hear it cause I'll be in a though situation soon. thanks for the video
