    I'm so glad to see you're in good spirits, Dot! Life comes at us fast, no matter how careful we are, sometimes. So sorry you've injured your hip further. I had a left THR in 2017, so I feel your pain. Prayers are with you and hang in there. Thank you for your update, your fans are glad to see you smiling, I'm sure!

    Hello Dot from our farm in New Hampshire. Your channel just came up on my You Tube screen. I am sorry to hear that you don't post updates anymore, but I understand that a busy life can only allow X amount of projects. I am currently going to PT for tearing/ separating my ATV muscles. Just narrowly avoided an abdominal hernia! Too much lifting on the farm and at my previous job. So yes, those kegels and abdominal exercises are important to support our pelvic floor.
    I have a feeling your channel will continue with your viewers commenting to each other. More than ever, I am conscious of addressing my general health over 65. My goal is to lose 30-40 lbs and tone up. I want to get out biking and walking again. There are lots of fun things to look forward to if I take care of myself first! ~ Diane

    Came back looking for you, I can't believe it's been over a year. I hope you and your husband are well. Miss your videos! I'm currently doing carnivore to hopefully heal the rest of my aches and pains and I'm hoping it will also kick start my weight loss again. Stay safe during all this virus stuff.

    Sorry to hear you had a rough month Dot but glad to hear things are going a bit smoother now and that you have help/physio and meds to help with the pain. I hope it improves as quickly as can be expected from here. That's good news about your husband figuring some things out a bit more. I used to work with someone who couldn't do lettuces, spinach, onion &green pepper but not red etc as they all contained a phenol she reacted to. Their are so many components to some of the vegetables that it makes them tricky to figure out at times especially when the problem means they don't break down neatly over catergory lines! It must be a relief for your husband to have a bit of relief and more certainty about some of the foods though. I a more clear picture might be on the horizon for you as well. I hope this week gets off to a good start for you!🙂
    And p.s. I hope your dog gave you some extra cuddles after you carried in that food post injury! x

    Thanks for sharing your recap of the past diets you both have tried. I found your channel by having an interest in the keto diet and I find it works well for me. I still have sweet temptations (and giving in to them) and I am still overeating (portions too large with high calorie consumption), so I haven't lost weight yet. BUT! I'm am working toward a full commitment so hope to begin losing weight soon. I feel so well and healthy eating lo carb so I know it's the diet for me. I have you to thank, at least in part, for that. :-)

    Good afternoon Dots and John. Bless you both for sharing this important update on the diet. I'm going to help my mom do this diet as a lifestyle. Her stomach isn't the best, she always getting sick like John. Then, her right knee lignament got damage and she got surgery. But because her job is heavy duty her right knee surgery isn't good no more and top it all her left knee is bad as well. I'm trying my best to make it easier for her and I know this diet lifestyle will help her to. Thank you so much, can't wait to heard your full result on the second challege. Have a blessful weekend you both💟💟💟.

      I was having my groceries delivered, only to find it was more trouble than it was worth. So many poor quality & wilted veggies! I still have my dogs canned food delivered, but a word of caution for people living on a fixed income...these companies who offer autoship on vet prescription pet foods appear to be changing their prices at will without advance warning to the consumers. I got a bill that was $49 more than my regular monthly bill & it wrecked my budget. It's a shame some of these companies are taking advantage of their customers.

    I recently lifted a heavy trash can & learned the meaning of prolapse! Ouch, that's a strange pain that no one ever warned me about! Seems my bladder no longer wants to stay where it has always been. Life is so much fun as we age. I am also learning to not eat leafy greens unless they have been steamed & cut into tiny pieces before cooking. The only raw leafy greens I can eat are red leaf lettuce. The only nightshade that does not upset my system is white sweet potato. 1/2 cup or less.

    • @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving
      @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving  5 лет назад +1

      So sorry about the prolapse. I was warned about that after my hysterectomy (no uterus to keep things in place). I actually had to go to PT for 2 months to work on my pelvic floor muscles to keep the bladder, small intestine and rectum in place.
      Funny you mentioned steaming the greens. At the beginning of the autoimmune challenge I slow cooked collard greens, tuscan kale and dandelion greens with a little onion and garlic. The husband devoured it and no symptoms. Hmmmm

      @@Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving I read somewhere long ago that the heat kills any bacteria that could cause a disruption in the digestive tract. I don't know if it's true, but it seems to work for me. I do miss my raw green smoothie drinks that I once made daily! As for the prolapse, I now know the meaning behind the phrase "use it or lose it"! I stopped doing kegel exercises years ago. My mistake. No Dr ever told me how important this is for women. Sad fact of American Medical Workers...they think we all know what they know! I am still learning how my body works. I do love ultra low carb eating.

At 200 which is the first time I can say I have actually hit that as my heaviest. being a lymphatic therapist I have learned that doing hot tea also helps with inflammation chamomile is something that really helps that so if you hit any points where you have inflammations try that. As someone who has IBS I can tell you eating salads is the worst thing you can do. I am also lactose intolerant. There are well meaning people that try to tell you that salad is good for you, they say if you get more ruffage/fiber you will bulk up and be fine, ah NO, but those of us with ibs know that is not true for us. My hubby and I are doing the keto lifestyle together. He can eat anything and it does not bother his stomach, me however I have to be very careful, I also have diverticulitus and can not eat seeds. Lets just say some days you just pay the pot for your food choices. I can have tomatoes but not two days in a row.

    • @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving
      @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving  5 лет назад +1

      Interesting about tomatoes! Wow...What I find is that doctors have no clue about IBS. When symptoms are both constipation and diarrhea, you know "IBS" is a catch all phrase. For my hubby, keto eliminated about 90% of his symptoms. The Carnivore challenge took him to 99%. My hunch is if he stays carnivore his gut will heat and he'll go the full 100% symptom free. But alas, he loves his cabbage.

    • @cathypeters8346
      @cathypeters8346 5 лет назад

      @@Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving I love my cabbage also it does have to be cooked as does all of the veggies I eat. Many years ago when I was first told I had IBS the doc sent me to nutritionalist, once she found out how many foods I could not have she just looked at me and said I can't help you. It has been a long expperament for me with food. Even if I am going to travel I will watch even more carefully what I eat at least 2 days before hand as you said it can and is both constipation and or diarrhea so we never know how our bodies will eliminate before travel day. I used to depend on pepto bismal to even be able to leave the house. Even with being in very good control of my IBS there are just some days no matter what its a bathroom day.

I just realized that's probably why I don't like leftovers because that would be eating the same thing 2 days in a row, well that took 35 years to figure out.

I've realized that I do need a little less fat and a bit more protein in my diet right now. So I'm playing with my macros until I find the right mix. As for my arthritis, I'm leaving open the door to go 100% carnivore. I'm hearing more and more it is good for inflammation. As for recipes...it is a challenge but I'm hoping to be up for it :)

    Take bio kult twice a day and you won't have to worry about IBS anymore even well after you stop it, watch out for the hexheimer effect as it just shows how bad your insides are. Also MSM was amazing at stopping my leg pain and now use hydrolysed collagen. Been off keto for a year or so and am strictly low carb with no issues at all. Also being from the UK I have access to raw dairy which makes a huge difference too.

I am considering the carnivore diet to see if that helps, as well. No matter how well I stick to KETO, if I get stressed (which is frequently), all bets are off. I would highly recommend finding a pain management doctor. They can do a number of treatments of deep shots to heal and take your pain away. I have been going to mine at various times over 10 years for knee, hip, shoulder injuries. Some that were brought on due to my weight before keto. But just recently my right hip went out when I was coming up from putting something away in a lower cabinet. Some deep shots and bang go..I was back to normal. I found physical therapy never worked.

      I'm trying to avoid going down that road for now. Physical therapy seems to help. Initially too much movement was a problem. I'm now at the point where too much sitting is bad for me. The exercises I'm doing seem to be working. I need to keep those up and take off all this extra weight I've added the last couple of years.

    I believe with your health issues you shouldn’t been dieting do a life change and that’s for life become a plant base person and you would be a lot healthier. All those diets can’t sustain anyone for life.

    Anyone know what happened to Dot? I see the latest video is over a year old. Thanks to the way RUclips recommends things as soon as I stopped looking up new recipes for awhile she dropped of my recommended list.
