    It's nice to hear that your sweet sensitivity can really change. I had an adjustable gastric band and went from a starch lover to a sweet lover
    ( and could get away with it ). No more band - enough weight loss - don't want the weight back. Leto feels the healthiest and satisfying.
    Surprise, I do have the self control so far eat proper portions and stay away from most processed sweets. I enjoy your recipes and videos.
    Thanks for the work you put into them. 🤗👍👍

    I love presentations. You have all the ingredients ready, you get very useful tips and get to the point. I get very impatient with other videos when they seem to think I want to watch every single chop and great. Another thing I love is that yours always work out really well. Thanks so much for the time you take to make them❤

    I'm making this right now. I prepped the meat last night so the flavors could meld overnight. I'm substituting the cabbage with bak choy. I'm so excited to try this tonight and think it will make for a wonderful lunch on Monday and Tuesday.

    I bet it would freeze well. Portioned out and made into TV dinners. This looks like a great meal for meal prepping. And both are delicious foods together. Thank you so much for sharing. I bet you could also use a mini muffin tin and make in form of mini muffins too. Parmesan would be nice on top of each serving.

    I made the meatballs today, and they’re absolutely divine! I froze most of them raw, as I live alone. That way I can pop them directly from the freezer into the oven and serve with any side dish. Next, I’ll make the slow cooker cabbage, and also that sauce that looks so good. The meatballs were great without the sauce, I bet the sauce will improve them a lot! Thanks so much, as usual you’ve done an amazing job. Your videos are top notch! You’re my favorite you tube low-carb channel, and I love spending time with you in your low-carb kitchen! That really is the best way to cook! For cabbage cooked in the slow cooker, I normally just place it in a freezer bag. But I really make sure to get as much air out of the bag as possible. It generally lasts for 1 month, so be sure to date the bag. If you are doing something like braised cabbage, you'll want to slightly under cook it so that when you heat it up, it doesn't over cook.

  • @jeanlotz9264

    Dot, thanks for sharing this recipe. BTW there is a very traditional Chinese meatball and cabbage dish called lion's head because the meatballs are large and the Cabbage gives the impression of a lion's mane. The meatball seasoning is different, using five spice, but you could easily make a keto version of traditional lion's head with the tips from this keto recipe.

    Hi Dot....so glad I found your channel. Started Keto and wasn’t prepared with recipes. Yours are amazing and I cannot wait to start cooking delicious meals for myself. Just a question about the carb content. Is it possible to estimate the total carbs in each recipe? I know it’s asking a lot but I don’t dare want to screw up this time. Also. Do I have to limit the quantity I will eat for each recipe. Thanks so much for a great informative channel. 👏

    • @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving
      @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving  6 лет назад

      Hi Dolores! First, welcome to the channel and very cool you are starting Keto. Most of my recipes I include the calories/protein/fat/carb/fiber per serving in the description box below the video. My earlier videos only did carbs/net carbs and I need to go back and redo those recipes. The way to figure out the carb content for the total recipe is just to take the per serving number I provide and multiply that by the number of servings (so if a recipe serves 4, and the individual carb count is 5, just do 4 x 5 = 20g for total recipe). As for quantity, that is a tough one to figure out since recipes differ: casserole (which you cut and measure by eye) and soup (liquid and can use a measuring cup). I try to give specific measurements when I can. But when it comes to eating, you want to eat until satisfied but not stuffed. Quantities are not unlimited. With keto/low carb most of your calories come from fat.A moderate amount comes from protein. Both fill you up and keep you full for a long time (5-6 hours or longer depending on your activity level). That means your body will naturally reduce its hunger signals meaning you naturally eat less. Here are some guides to help you until you find your way: You want 4-6 oz of protein per meal (an ounce of protein is roughly 7g if counting grams is your thing). Up to 4 oz of cheese a day (keep in mind cheese also counts towards protein!); 5-6 C of raw salad veggies a day (greens and also the low carb veggies you add to salads) and 2 C of cooked low carb veggies a day. For fats a serving size is a tablespoon. For creams (sour, heavy, light, half n' half) 1 to 1.5 oz a day. Hope this gives you an idea of how to get started. I do recommend people check out The New Atkins for A New You by Drs. Westman, Phinney and Volek. The induction section is the best guide to get started with quantities and foods to eat and avoid. Good luck and please ask questions anytime.

    Wonderful!!! I love a little sweetness with a meatdish! Are snow peas low in carbs? Well I can Google that question. But this looks really yummy. Another question,,can u use xanthum Gum instead of the guar,,not sure I spelled that right,, lol I have the xanthum..

    • @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving
      @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving  6 лет назад +1

      You can have snow peas, but I recommend limiting them to 2/3 cup per serving instead of a full cup. You should be able to use use xanthan gum instead if that's what you have. The quantity may be different. I'd try a pinch (1/8th teaspoon) first to see if that does the trick. You can always add a pinch more if it isn't thick enough.

  • @margaretd3710
    @margaretd3710 6 лет назад +1

    Oooohhhh! This really looks good! I'm going to make the meatballs with ground turkey since I can't eat beef. And since I'm trying to do an anti-candida diet, I need to avoid all fungi - and mushrooms are fungi, I need to find something else as a filler to help the meatballs be juicy. Ideas?

    • @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving
      @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving  6 лет назад

      Couple of ideas: Eggplant might be a good substitute for the mushrooms. Also since the ground turkey is so lean, you'll want to add some healthy fat, so try almond meal (maybe try a 1/4 -1/2 cup). Also chopped cilantro would add nice flavor too.

    I understand the absorption of the carbs from sugar alcohols depends on the actual sugar alcohols.. ie. with erythritol the body expelled 90% where as xylitol is actually much lower.. can you please provide me the link to the information research you quote so I can review and make necessary changes in my diet.. thanks so much!

    • @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving

    • @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving

      For slow cooker cabbage, just put it in a freezer bag and squeeze out as much air as possible before sealing. Oh it only lasts 1 month so date the bag. If you are doing a braised cabbage, then I'd recommend slightly under cooking before freezing. That way it won't over cook when you warm it up.

    The only Swerve I can find is granular, not powdered. Is granulated just another name for powdered? Are they interchangeable?

    • @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving
      @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving  6 лет назад

      There's granulated and powdered, also called confectioners. Powdered is very fine. They can be interchangeable depending on how you use it. For example, if you melt it, it's melted period. But if you're using it in something that is cold and will stay cold, you'd want to use the powdered so as to avoid a grainy texture.

    • @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving
      @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving  6 лет назад

    How many meatballs in a serving (3,4,etc) and how much cabbage in a serving (1/4 cup, 1/2 cup?) thanks

    • @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving
      @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving  6 лет назад

      Hey there. I give the servings for cabbage and meatballs in the recipe (in the video description), but it depends on how big you make your meatballs. For example, you get about 40 meatballs from from 2 pounds of ground beef, and that would make about 5 meatballs for one of the 8 servings. But if you make larger (or smaller) meatballs, that'd change the number. For this recipe, serving sizes are based on divisions and not absolute numbers.

    • @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving

      Not sure. I guess it depends on how melted it is when I display it.

    • @maritawallace5510
      @maritawallace5510 6 лет назад

      I’ve noticed in the grocery store that sometimes it’s solid, other times it’s totally liquid. Maybe it has something to do with how it’s processed. I kinda doubt it makes any difference! Thx!

    • @Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving

      I use unrefined extra virgin coconut oil. That always looks like shortening. My guess is the other versions are much more refined to remove the coconut flavor.
