Hi Dot! Hope and pray all is well. Thanks to your videos I’ve learn so much about the Keto lifestyle. Little by little I’m buy my gadgets for my kitchen. I bought my slow cooker thanks to one of your delicious cooking video. May this year 2019 be fill of lot of health and happiness!🙏❤️🙏
I have most of these and they are all very useful. My favorites are my 8.5 quart Paula Deen air fryer and my 6 quart Cosori electric pressure cooker. I do chicken thighs five at a time un-battered in the air fryer and they turn out like rotisserie chicken. I do my roasts in the pressure cooker instead of a slow cooker as they get done in an hour to 90 minutes as opposed to 8 hours. I also boil eggs in the pressure cooker. 5 minutes under pressure, 4 minute slow release, manual release, then ice water bath. Perfect every time. I am glad to see you mention the Lodge dutch oven. So many people online act like the $350 Le Crueset brand is necessary when the $40 Lodge is identical in performance and build.
I love my lodge dutch oven too! I've looked at air fryers and am very curious about them. But I'm worried about another appliance taking up space. Maybe when I get a bigger kitchen. I'm planning on playing with my pressure cooker soon. I think I may try a 30-day challenge where I use it everyday. Yikes! But its the only way to learn.
I am so glad I found your channel! Super excited to watch more videos and get some ideas. I need to find a cast iron skillet, but can’t spend a lot. Where do you recommend I look?
Hey Dot, I have the same Lodge Dutch oven (except in red) and if you want to get the stain out it is super easy. Just fill it with water to above the stain and bring to a boil then slowly add a few large spoonfuls of baking soda and let it boil for a few minutes. I’ve found this works for most stains. I found it somewhere on the Lodge site originally so it is safe for the pan as well. Thanks for all the great videos and best wishes with the hip.
I too have most of these and a few more. I tend to have keto shakes once in a while or either mix my keto pancakes and I use my ninja for that. I also love both my mixers. I have the hand held and the stand mixer in kitchen aid. I dont have the heavy Dutch oven I do have 2 cast iron skillets. I have a really nice heavy stainless steel Dutch oven that goes from stove top to oven that I love. It seems to cook and bake very even and holds alot. I have the same little cuisinart chopper you have and I use it more than my bigger food processor. Kitchen gadgets just make cooking and baking much easier. I need to look into your knives and your little juicer. Also I love my insta pot. Its fabulous and quick. I used mine yesterday to make keto cabbage soup. Turned out really well. Thanks Dot!!
Thank you Dot, I love your videos and recipes. RE: non-stick pans, I have a few non-stick pans that I baby more than others. I realized when I first put water in them, the water beaded up and immediately rolled off. I treat them as I do my cast Iron. I hand wash without soap, no dishwasher for them, dry off immediately. When I see the water bead up and roll off, I've still got a good surface.
I know that this is an old post, but I think that your thin (non-wood) cutting block is made from (vintage) melamine. I have seen them there at garage sales and thrift stores. They are essentially a fused wooden product. Popular back from the 50's to the 80's. That is why it has an aged patina.
Dot, Thank you for taking us on a tool tour of your home kitchen. My plans are to locate a couple of good quality glass cutting boards. I've tried both wood and plastic boards and they seem to be hard to get their surfaces extra disinfected. I worry about the little areas where knifes penetrate their surfaces and germs may hide there. I definitely try to purchase tools I know I can clean well and not leave any crevices for bacteria to grow. Enjoyed this informative video. God Bless you. Love Tamson.
@@Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving I will be happy too. I've made myself a note to contact you. I hope I have good. By the way your tools I'm impressed. Love Tamson.
Great video. I have the old fashioned heavy glass juicer shaped like a saucer. I have two actually and they are indestructible and nothing to break. Everyone had them in the 70s.
Thank you for the interesting and helpful video. I too have a Lodge cast iron skillet and dutch oven and love them...I have a Krups coffee grinder, which I no longer used for grinding coffee...thanks for the tip on other uses...glad I kept it. Did I hear you correctly, that you live outside of DC? I live in between DC and Balto...Columbia. My two favorite "kitchen tools" are my Instant Pot and Ninja Foodi. The Instant Pot actually got me started cooking at age 60+ a few years ago, now. I love one pot cooking. The Foodi adds a couple of additional features that the Instant Pot doesn't have, as it browns meat and has a few Air Fry features (bake and broil), and it also dehydrates...it also has an amazing non-stick liner). Love your channel and appreciate your videos and your work creating them...Cheers!
@@Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving...I think you will like it.. so many recipes out there for it...I primarily use the Saute and Pressure Cook functions, but since you mentioned your Slow Cooker, I'll be curious what you think of that feature compared to your past experience...
the only thing that I use daily that you didn't show was a magic bullet blender. I think I have everything you have accept the pepper and salt grinders. Maybe I'll put those on my birthday wish list!
In 1997 the crock-pots were forced to increase their temperatures in cooking due to food regulations changing over fear of food poisonings. I have found a few crock pots at yard sales and estate sales that are pre 1997. They work perfectly having a low, high. The drawback is that the crock is not always able to separate from the heating pot for easier washing.
Love the knives!! I use Temptations baking dishes from QVC!!! They bake amazingly wonderful, cleanup is a breeze and I get them on clearance the whole collections at a steal when they have free shipping!!! Ck into it!!!😉

we got ours in November and we have no regrets. you have to watch cooking times it cooks everything faster without burning it since it is only the two of us we hardly turn on our oven anymore
Do things today I have a ninja foodie which I absolutely love I could do so many things in it I made veggie tots in the air crisper and they were absolutely delicious with a little bit of sugar free ketchup so maybe you would like to get one or an instant pot which I had one but gave to my daughter when I got my foodie. I do have a question what could I use to thicken clam chowder instead of flour. God bless I hope you're feeling better.
Thank you and to thicken clam chowder you can try: 1. xanthum or guar gum -- just a little bit does the trick (and mix either with a fat before adding to avoid clumping. 2. Reduction -- just let it simmer and evaporate out the water...but add some fat near the end -- butter or heavy cream do wonders in reductions. Reductions do tend to intensify flavor. 3. Pureed cauliflower (a tbsp at a time until you get desired thickness) can help thicken -- but it would increase your carbs. Other veggies do this too like zucchini, mushrooms and broccoli. Hoped that helps.
Hey Dots, I hope you are doing well. You had found solution on your hip and leg. You should see a Chiropractor too to help you flex the bones and muscle more. I hope everything turn out good. Thank you for cooking tools video, have a great day 💗💗💗
Thank you. I'm going in for an MRI tonight so my orders are to rest until they eliminate the chance I have a stress fracture. I'm feeling better and pain level really dropped from a 7 to a 2. I'm hoping it is more pulled ligaments or muscles. At least I'm close to finding out.
Thank you for your quick answer how much xanthan gum should I use I did try it with the olive oil and it works great but I don't know how much xanthan gum for a big pot of clam chowder?
What I've seen is to add it in small amounts a little at a time, maybe 1/4 tsp at a time, and not too much. I still am not quite sure "too much" is haha, but everyone warns that it'll get slimy. Wish I had more info.
Not yet. I haven't really touched it much as I'm still trying to learn how to use it. It seems easy to use but I'm finding it a challenge. So I'm actually planning a month where I use it once a day.
Happy Monday Dot, I'm making clam chowder you think I can thicken it with xanthan gum instead of flour and how would I do that or how would you do it?Thank you.
