Rules:
- This is a low level run of zombero's hardtype mod: www.romhacking.net/hacks/3299/
- The aim is to keep XP gain as low as possible without affecting my sanity.
- Hard mode, obviously
- No stat boosting items
- All other game mechanics are fair game!
Hardtype changes:
- HP: 20000 → 30000
- Makakaja → Cadenza (Raises magic + accuracy)
Another day, another boss that can barely touch us. We can even ingest a phys resist magatama this time since we already void force. Koumoku's script is different from Zouchou and Jikoku's, in that he casts 2 buffs each round and is more bent on attacking physically. When he gets low on HP he changes tack completely, opting for either Cadenza + spells or Focus + physicals. The latter is why we still have to keep his buffs in check throughout the fight as I found out his focussed Deathbounds still threaten a one-shot on a debuffed Demi even through resistance. Nasty, sure, but only a minor blip before I returned to swiftly humiliate him. - Игры

I find funny Su wu kong vs Koumokuten since his the one that protect the west of buddah realm and su wu kong goes to a journey to the west.

Kinda bugs me how Koumoku and Bishamon's affinities were switched in hardtype, yet remain as they were in vanilla for these bosses. Hell, you even saw this during the first Bish fight which had a ton of moveset changes. Idk the shrine feels kinda unfinished
i agree: are they like that in some other SMT game? like maybe in smt ii bishamon was wind that and zombero turned him back into that or something.
@@Mngalahad Just checked the wiki, looks like all the affinities are opposite of what they are in Nocturne in the IV games, so that's probably what it was. That's not really what Jim's saying though, Hardtype switches their affinities in their summonable forms but not in their boss forms, which is certainly weird. (Correct me if I'm wrong about that though.)

Iirc the reasoning zombero was using was something about him wanting Bishamon to be a top level magic user, but he didn't want to overlap affinities with other high level affinities so had him changed. But yeah i think it was done late in development
Iirc this is because Zombero didn't want the flames that are next to the pillars of each Deva boss in the Bandou Shrine to be the wrong colors for what elements the bosses use with the changes made

He's the only Bandou Shrine boss that kicked my butt :( focused Deathbound always double hit Black Rider, effectively erased the Healer.
Bish is somewhat manageable, while he only use Quad Buff into BS once in the entire fight.
Jim, would you play the remastered version if it came to Steam? (Or will you play the remastered version once the western version is out?)
Almost definitely. I'm thinking I might even get into speedrunning with choosable skills as a thing.
