I'm 45, a somewhat functional adult and family man. I was a teen in the 80's and looking back, considering everything else that was going on at the time, this is f'ing brilliant!
Saw them in Cardiff on the 30th anniversary tour. One of the best gigs I have ever been to, the place jumped up and down from the time the curtain dropped till they walked off stage. The bands energy spilled off the stage and made us feel we really were a part of the show that night (I felt his even though I was way up in 'the gods'). If ever they come around again dont even stop to think just buy the ticket you wont regret a single note trust me.
i will go to the grave with the knowledge that i saw the best ever band britain has produced(1981)!as relevant today as the beatles! how raw yet magnificent is this music!!now this is the xxxxx factor!!if i could bottle this raw talent i'd own the universe!!
Now, THIS is music! What a sound! I can't believe this. Seven normal guys from Coventry who just love to have fun as much as the next guy got together and BOOM... we have the Specials! This f%*#in' rulez!!
Damn i saw these guys live in Bochum, Germany last year and I tell you, they still totally rock the place. I've never been to a better show in my whole life! It was just...just ska! Don't know what else to say it was just so great!
Terry and Lynval almost french kissing... :D one of my favourites live, always love the contrast between Neville's OiOiOi Jdge & Terry's 'yeah what the hell...'
...an awesome British SKA band who sadly, have disbanded...with The Selecter, The Piranhas, The English Beat, Madness & Bad Manners, among many others, ruled with their rock steady beat & SKA... :-)
oh my days fucking qualityyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
getting ready to go on the lash ,i cant think of getting ready toanything else. Respect to those keeping it real. BIG RESPECT TO ALL YOU RUDE BOYS AND GIRLS.
They just announced a US tour. Very limited, unless you live in CA. Mar 11 - Chicago... Mar 12(?) - SXSW... Mar 15 - Mexico City... Mar 18 - L.A.... Mar 19 - San Diego... Mar 20 - Pomona, CA... Mar 22 - Ventura, CA... Mar 23 - San Francisco... Mar 26 - Portland... Mar 27 - Seattle... Mar 29-30 - Vancouver
HOLY CRAP is the dude that started talking at 0:26 Jamaican?! he has a caribbean accent, if he is the only reason i sound so surprised is that it seems every site i go on on the internet another Jamaican thing or person appears when i least expect it
No, that's definitely Terry Hall. Jerry is missing his front teeth (at least back then) so he's instantly recognizable. I think Jerry Dammers only sang some songs, and only after Terry had moved on to Fun Boy Three etc.
Birmingham in the 80's no jobs no prospects........but an undying never say never attitude maggies britain tarnished and forever green........love the specials told it the way it was .violence succumbned to teenage apathy........
@blindfire7unloaded Probably due to the West Indian immigrants in Britain in the 1970s, bringing a new style of music (and food!) to the isle it's not surprising that they were embraced.

+Jeffrey Zeichner I agree. I am 42. I remember seeing The Specials on top of the pops when I was a little kid and I have been hooked ever since.
That organ solo is probably my favorite part of a song in music history.

Best keyboards solo ever!
And I love that man, bad luck I didn't see him in the reunion
However, no band makes you feel like this!

Is that Shane MacGowan's brother on keyboards?:-{D=
They re-form every 10 years or so. I saw them in 1995 in Charelston SC with Hepcat and the Skatalites.
