Thanks for your in-depth news stories from around the world on the manufacturers. I would not have known all the behind the scenes without you bringing it up. I’ve Been listening to you since your beginning.
It's enshittification: Initially, vendors create high-quality offerings to attract users, then they degrade those offerings to better serve business customers (ie focus on selling new trucks for tradespeople or luxury vehicles and dropping sedans or starter cars), and finally degrade their services to users and business customers to maximize profits for shareholders (now they don't even make good/affordable trucks anymore). It's because the investor class has to squeeze more profit out of fewer companies since our growth rate is slowing due to a drop in consumer demand. And not really a drop in consumer demand, gdp still goes up, but consumers are spending their money on fewer things. According to a study done by Forbes, 78% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. They aren't going to buy new cars. All of their money is going to rent, groceries, and to keep their existing car on the road. So GM and others have to make the same or similar profits every year out of a shrinking consumer base. There's only two ways to do that. Cut costs (aka lower quality), or raise prices (more inflation).
that is correct, their next big market will be Saudi Arabia, where princes have unending pocket books but wouldn't be caught dead driving such low class garbage.

@@YouMatter-UDoIf the EPA really cared about fuel economy and emissions then the strictest CAFE regulations would be applied to the biggest vehicles while the least strict CAFE regulations would be applied to the smallest vehicles. When you shut down 4 cylinders in order to get higher mph you can expect something to crater. On my vehicle you can disable that function by the push of a button and my engine is fine, but others have had the problem you’re talking about.
I wont ever buy an autonomous vehicle. I dont even want lane assist, brakingbassist or amy of those other stupid features. My vehicke will not be equiped with cameras that send data to anyone.
Until you ride in a Tesla. Then you realize, driving when you have too sucks. Driving when you want to is fun. So, I let my Tesla do the driving 99% of the time. On another note.... You don't own a smart TV or Cell phone? Those both record your data and sell it. Just FYI.
Those emissions devices which shut off some cylinders is what throws rods. There needs to be a way to bypass that feature for those who want a running truck instead of saving gas while idle.
I know how to fix part of this. If the car manufacturers won't make sedans because they can make more money selling SUVs.. then make the SUVs meet the same gas mileage requirements as passenger cars. They won't be able to make or sell SUVs any more, because they won't do a damn thing to make the things more efficient or responsible without the government beating their faces in over it. Car companies are incentivized to build cars again (as they're cheaper to build than big stupid trucks), gas mileage starts to improve, people in Corollas don't have to worry about getting knocked into the next state when Karen in her GM BigDumbSUV plows into them because she's fixing her makeup.. all kinds of benefits. Of course, if people would buy the cars they NEED instead of the cars they WANT then this would become a lot easier as well. Nobody NEEDS an SUV to go to Piggly Wiggly. Nobody NEEDS a RAM 9600 (or whatever) to go pick up little Snotleigh at dance class. Get over it.

Yes, that dastardly EPA created decades ago by Republican President Richard Nixon and his Republican administration.
Only idiots pay 90k for a truck built in Mexico for 30k.
Maybe they should delete AFM and stop/start. Perhaps reliable motors again. 2000 suburban, just turned over 230,000. I have 2017 yukon with 6.2. I purchased new. Had preformance shop delete AFM and I put in catch can. Change oil 5,000 miles or less. Just hit 94,000. I hope to get 230,000 on it. 😊 ❤
Very good. I always love driving my 24 year old Tahoe. Runs/drives great, no high tech crap. I switch off driving that and my Frontier Pro4X. Maintenance is critical.
So spend $100 on an aftermarket stop/start plug-in stop dongle and ya can stop your bitchin. $100.
2006 5.3 Silverado w/143,000 & 2012 5.3 Silverado w 246,000, oil, tires and gas plugs..both 4x4s..both running strong. Combined purchase price 28K.
I like GM and have owned at least a dozen of their vehicles. However, they aren't immune to royally screwing the pooch and lately more often than not they don't represent the smartest option for consumers.
Took a lot of heat buying a 24 Tundra with the recall, everyone said they are unreliable. GM 10X'd it.
I got a 23 tundra, just do a couple oil changes right away I did. The dealership argued with me about it even though I was paying for it. Because it wasn’t the set oil change time… truck runs great still and is a blast when the turbos light up.
Silverado EVT looks like a giant Honda Ridgeliner. Junk
I couldn't get that image out of my head when I saw it. That or my other thought was a Hummerfied Avalanche
Or the old style Chevy Avalanches.
I loved the impala and fusion..GMC and ford screwed me so I bought an accord and my daughter bought a camry. I relieve mazda will remain a player in the sedan world to with quality products...we will see.
My 08 Sierra runs perfectly. 325,000 miles. Never been in the shop. Had to change the brake pads and tires
325,000 miles on the original oil...impressive!!
time for KYB shocks japan made only brand ill use
@@jefferyedwards5003It’s gonna get an oil and filter change at 500K miles, whether it needs it or not.
The oil is not original
@@jcasey2309 believe it or not, the oil is not original
GM cut their production costs way past the bone and into the sinew. Now it's time to PAY THE PIPER!!! GM may be FINISHED.
I say that GM NEEDS TO BRING DOWN THIER PRICES BECAUSE THEY ARE GOING TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS IF THEY DON'T. 😊
The government will bail them out again. GM should've been gone along with Chrysler 17 years ago.
I believe that the Malibu is still being sold in 2025. It is on the Chevrolet website. starting at 25K. I owned a 2017 hybrid Malibu and loved it- just not enough truck space as the battery was in the trunk. Hybrid is not available. I traded it in and it sold in a week!
Where the GM engineers on crack when they redesigned the motor?
Hey.... I know
Let's cut back on quality of our engines! GM Ford Toyota Honda Kia Huyndai did I miss anyone?
Nissan 3cyl turbos
Jeep!!!
Ram
Dodge
American automakers need to hire the best employees (engineers) to turn out a quality product.
And test them very thoroughly before hitting the market.
Then they need to be brought over from Japan.
So far, my 2021 Silverado has 50K on the clock. No issues. 🤞
10 or 8 speed?
@adminadmin9997 Eight speed. The transmission is my biggest fear. But I have the extended warranty until 150K.
My Son bought a 2022 Sierra AT4 with the 6.2, and right after turning over 40k miles at a Redlight the Motor Froze up right in the middle of the road, almost causeing multiple accidents due to woth the motor LOCKED UP, and electronic auto transmission THE TRUCK WOULD NOT MOVE!!!!
The dealer sent a tow truck, the truck has been in the shop for over a month now, and he was just told ALL the GM motors are on back ordered, and he has to wait 4 more months for a new 6.2! Meanwhile, my Son is STILL paying over $800 a month payment on a new truck he can't even drive!
Tariffs have been stalled for both Canada and Mexico for 1 month, as both sides work out a deal.
So they'd rather lose money on EVs and self driving? 😂😂😅😅😅😂😂
Thank you for doing this. I love your channel but I was getting sick of the Ford and stellantis stories. I wanted to see how good or bad GM was doing and you showed that thanks
GM lost 3 billion in the 4th quarter.... did I hear the words GM GOOD?😂😂😂
How about a reliable V8?
EPA: I don’t think so
Happen to my 21 Forester 44k. Number 2 rod.
Consumers are starting to wise up and refuse to buy overpriced unreliable vehicles that are overly complicated to meet unreasonable EPA standards.
It's not EPA standards that makes them put not needed electronics in vehicles. PROFITS! We need clean air to breathe. If you bred chillins into this world you had best think about that reality.
@@YouMatter-UDoIf the EPA really cared about fuel economy and emissions then the strictest CAFE regulations would be applied to the biggest vehicles while the least strict CAFE regulations would be applied to the smallest vehicles. While I’m not denying that the manufacturers can be greedy, that’s not to say that the EPA isn’t corrupt either. Also where the hell is the push for better recycling because nobody is trying anymore and there’s hardly any advocacy anymore.
Sell some v8s that don't have AFM. Old school
Quality control at the manufacturers must be the easiest job in the world because they sure seem to take a lot of days off
gotta get that every other day "ITS DONE" video
We need cheap quality cars
You can only have one.
@@h2o100c Now you can't get anything. 100k vehicles that are blowing engines left and right. Neither cheap, nor quality lol.
GM has been building the LS based 6.2 since 2007. Why were there no issues for years and all of a sudden starting in 2019 they're throwing rods left and right? I love the LS platform but I will not buy one with cylinder deactivation. Displacement on demand is where GM screwed themselfves.
Dfm started in 19’..afm was 07-18..
And who is buying these knowing it may happen to their loved ones what is going on with manufacturing failures in most new cars
Try some punctuation
They should focus on quality and less on stupid features that fail and nobody wants...
Nice smirk when you said in laws😅
Just FYI.
We have a 21 tahoe, we bought brand new and just had to get the transmission replaced at 54k miles
GM going to the small 1.5 turbos. Trash engine waiting to happen.
The more i watch the more i want to find a 1970 Chev C10 with a 6 cylinder.....LOL
I got a 98 chevy silverado better than new
Those emissions devices which shut off some cylinders is what throws rods.
They’re losing money because their trucks are overpriced and no one is buying them.
The thing I miss is a wagon. I see right where you are, Parks Chevrolet's back lot.
We called it “ throwing a rod “ for a reason . Seen it done 😂
Best video you have made in a long while...content, informative and timely. Lately you have been full of yourself, sarcastic and blah blah blah...good Job today
When walking through that lot talking about what they have, I didn't see anyone looking at them to possibly buy. That being said, I would not pay their prices. Might be by your lot tomorrow to see what you got.
I had a chevy cruze. Not great, but it was ok. I was interested in getting an impala. When I had the cruze, Chevy announced they were discontinuing 4 door sedans. I bought a Toyota Avalon, and couldn't be happier. I'm never going back to gm. I am thinking about getting a 4runner now.
How is GM making money, finance, government ( subsidies ) and fleet sales??? "Creative accounting" ???
Stick to my 06 Silverado Z71 with a 175000 on it!!!! Maintenance is alit cheaper and minimal compared to these trucks! Plus I have a 7 ft bed! Short bed don’t do crap for me!!! Plus, it is not my primary vehicle!!!!! Also have a 23 Hyundai Kona that I paid 28000 for in August 2023!
A rod through a block is called Catastrophic Detonation. Holy Hell. I lovevmy 71 Chwvelle, I will never own a new Chevy.
Just went to Toyota parts department for my Highlander there was like 20 engines for the tundras there. We owned Toyotas all our lives but man when thinking of buy a truck it might not be Toyota ford or ram.
20 Engines with new Turbos they are replacing for free, regardless of mileage. Even trucks with 100K get the new new engine. Think Chevy will do that?
Well, what does that leave? The frontier? Those naturally aspirated engines are going away next year as well.
Gm filling up our salvage yards one china part at a time.
Price Reliability. & A Truck to last 20 years & Mileage 😅 😮😅
Toyota is REALLY shining in this. New crate motors for all engines in the recall. Gm is fighting it.
Not even 40 complaints 😂
I don’t understand American obsession with oversized trucks. Most people don’t even use them as a truck, just as a car. It’s much more practical for the majority of people to have an SUV, a lot more useful.
I had a $11,000.00 bill for lifter issues, had to have cam lifter replaced all out of warranty of course 😡
If looking at a vehicle check out the rav4. Buy the 2.5 liter engine. The most dependable engine without a turbo. Bec of 4 pistons don't take off quick, but last like 200 k miles for under 40 k.
And the Mexico/Canada tarrif spat is already over.
30 day delay.
10% on China starts tomorrow.
Every house in the USA is packed with products from China and other foreign Countries.
So the fuel pump modules run long enough to chuck a rod
Some Silverado/Sierra trucks are assembled in Canada.
“ford and Ram lowering their prices”?!?! ……..just went to a south Texas Ford dealership this weekend, 35 f-250/350 trucks not ONE of them under $90,000. I’ve been needing a new truck for 2 years. Still can’t afford one……..
GM's truck engine problems is not a defect nor a design flaw. Its a specal feature to "disable " the vehicle permanently so you will buy another new GM vehicle when your insurance pays out. 😊 thank you Grenading Motors
I had a 2023 GMC 6.2, and it’s on its 3rd engine and only has 15k. We asked for buy back and GMC manufacture never worked with us had to trade in and lost over 10k in 8 months.
Electric vehicles are not the future. At best they are an overpriced ToY
😂
Tesla sold 1.808 million EVs at a profit on 2023.
Tesla sold 1.789 million EVs at a profit in 2024.
That's far more than twice as many EVs as Ford sold in gasoline F150s.
Tesla Model Y was the highest selling vehicle in the World.
EVs aren't going away any more than the billions of smartphones, tablet, portable and desktop computers on Earth are going away.
Still using a flip-phone or cassette tapes?😂
Lower truck prices? Or build better quality? No that will cost them their nice fat profits. Gotta keep the investors happy, not the shrinking customer base.
I have a 2014 chevy half ton silverado lt 5.3. Had the afm block switch put in on day one. It now has 123000 miles on it now with no problems with motor or trans. You don't have to be an engineer to realize that a 5000 lb truck should never run on 4 cylinders especially in the mountains of the northeast. Gas is cheaper than engines or transmissions
The general issue is not that these cars are electric. The issue is that all cars in general are simply extreamly expensive.
How about this for a 2X, 4X "growth" idea... build affordable vehicles people want. How about that?
This is amazing another done video!!
So do the 2025 have this motor that's jacked?
Yes
I actually don't think the tariffs are going to do much to the market. This isn't a supply side issue, it's a demand side issue. Companies could stop production all together and it wouldn't move the needle on their inventory at all because no one is buying a truck for 100k. At this point, I doubt most people would even do it for 50-60k.
