In a word!!!!! BRILLIANT! Love you Jim and the rest of the crew for giving me the best Teenage life's music and till present WOW! magic and I was so lucky to grow up and still be able to re minis!!! Thank you!!!
Magnificent songs on that one. When it first came out, some friends had rented a big house and had a superb stereo. We used to play the album loud enough to create a surreal sound with those great songs. Its songs run beautifully with tempo changes and mood. Absolutely love Big Sleep as much as all the rest, what a visionary piece it is. Late 70s/Early-mid 80s was an incredible time for new music and life was pretty wild and experimental i cleary remember.
I've got a shiny pound coin for anyone who can workout the synth solo notes and post them on here !! 😉 . I've been trying to find out what the notes are for years, so I can play it myself. There are no clear videos on RUclips to work it out, and this is about as good as it gets, not a bad effort at playing them. Not Herbie Hancockesque, but a damn good effort 🙂
I’m thankful to have watched the band play in San Diego, CA USA. This song was just awesome to hear live. If the band returns to North America, I’d go again.
Hi mick,,, I was at the back as well behind the sound/mixing it was fantastic they're still brilliant after all the years. They were much better this time I'm going to Belfast in August to see them
Keep it up Jim and Charlie! Thanks for being so dedicated! You guys are still the Best! This is one of my favorite Simple Minds Songs! Thank you for Posting this to RUclips!
Cardiff I was at this concert came over to the beautiful city of Cardiff to see one of my favourite bands absolutely brilliant concert Jims voice still sounds brilliant he looks amazing. Came over frm Ireland 🇮🇪
Simple minds has always been one of my bands. I also loved playing the rhythm on the drum set. Singer himself Jim Kerr from Shottland with his balanced frequency. Truly unique. Kind regards, Daum Othmar Austria.
This is shocking. Andy and Mel out the band, Jim looking like he is on track to getting an audition for my 600lb life and Jacqueline McCafferty playing keyboards. What happened to the incredible band that did the 5 X 5 tour in 2012 or the amazing Hydro shows in 2013 and 2014? And before anyone rants about not being a fan, I've followed this band for 42 years.
indeed, none of the musicians look like they are having fun. The background singer is looking very bored and the others are just doing their job. I think they don't like playing this song.
@@williamking9510 I think you are right and being a musician myself I can imagine this is a difficult song to play passionately live. Some songs work better as a recording and not for playing live. The tempo is pretty slow for example and there is not a distinct chorus.
@@jeroenelfferich568 I was in Dublin 3 weeks ago, and they performed an amazing show. The band is having fun, they enjoy their job and you could see that on stage just watching at them. The background singer, as you call her, has a name, Sarah Brown, and it's much more than a backing vocal singer. She sings some songs by herself or part with Jim and she loves her job with SM. And I'm telling you this because I know her personally. Have you looked at the drummer, Cherisse, the energy she has while playing?? They are simple amaziung minds
Yeah, I'm a superfiscial twit. But it's tough seeing muscians that I admire getting older and out of shape. And yes, I am in Jim's age group and not getting any better looking. But then again, I don't make a living prancing around on stage either.
Supercreasing jeans with a denim jacket is a tired look for Jim. Brilliant early albums i buzzed out on in the late 70s/ early 80s set a standard of style and fashion so unlike this look with a chubby tummy Tshirt. He could of lifted this performance if he wore almost anything else to help cover his roly poly. . Whats up?
Based on this video they need to give up touring. Jim looks knackered. I saw them a few years ago and sadly they've become a tribute act. Jim and Charlie plus a bunch of session musicians do not make simple minds
Live In the City of Angels proves that Kerr and Burchill are more than capable of holding the act together as they always have. They were and are the backbone of Simple Mjnds and so long as they are there….that’s all that matters. They sound great in that recording which is only a few years old.
Derek Forbes was a cornerstone to their sound. Anyone whom witnessed the line up from 1978-1984 can attest to this. After the 1986 release I bailed and lost interest in a band that once ruled the world!
You can't have aging musicians perform like when they were young. Either you have to continuously update the line-up, like the Fall, or end up like this. In classical music at certain point you have to retire, you can't go on forever. Also, rock and roll from the beginning was meant to be audio-visual, teens screaming and fainting at Beatles concerts were doing that only partly because of the music. The image of the band was associated with the music at the time it was created, at later stages in life this is impossible.
Simply Brilliant.....No Miming.....Great Musicians and Awesome Vocals,still.

Was there too but much further back behind the mixing desk. Fab sound, fab light show and fab gig. Thanks for the upload.
I think being so close meant I didn't get how good the light show was

wow, great to know that there still playin this brilliant song
Wow. William Shatner on vocals...
Thanks for sharing. Yesterday evening saw them in Paris. Really nice show. Love his voice still the same as years
Simple Minds is the band U2 wishes it could be
Really be nice both great bands
@@jamescotter833 U2 was great and then it turned into a bunch of self important Karens
The singer Sarah Brown is SO beautiful 🌹
now thats a band i would still pay to see thats been going all these years, not any others
Yeah Simple Minds has been one of my all time favourite groups since the early 80's, but who they were is long gone.
Agreed. ….still love listening to them…just not live anymore. The Nocturne concert I’ve just been to was a wash out in more ways than one!
Totally agree
Like a cabaret version now
Thanks Mate Keep safe and Well , all those memories ♥😉

In the album, Herbie Hancock played that keyboard solo. She did a good job at it!
Totally. Some keyboardists haven't managed it at all when playing with them.
Bernice pulling off the coolest keytar ever there.
Capolavoro! I look forward to seeing you next July in Rome
A great song I cry of joy

Fantastici 🤗♥️
oh dear...
Yeah.... oh dear indeed 🙄
Looks like the bloke down our local pub on the karaoke machine...! Jimmy has eaten too many pies & his voice is shot...!
The best music of their best album
Great keyboard !
Tribute act & nothing more.
Thanks for the memories.
going to see them in august princess street gardens
Brilliant gig and glad I was there but unfortunately not this close.
great lp was on my capris stereo all the time
simple minds live gesehen in Schüttorf, ich glaube 1984!? Einfach geil
Not a patch on the Simple Minds of the 80's........
They're sadly their own tribute act now.
@@shaun64vet ……agreed. JK is nowhere the force he was😏
Saw them in Dublin. He sounded a bit tired but the overall buzz was amazing.
@@clairekilduff5930 well said as long there's a buzz it's rite ,he s still hitting high notes ,you won't get this anywhere else .
One of the best gigs I’ve been to. And I’ve been to a few!! Electric.
i Remember seeing them in 1979 in Glasgow when they were a real rock band....then they sold out.
My favorite song
Toujours au Top
Great energy masterpiece awesome beat timeless magickal & always on top! ❤️

Was sitting in the house in Belfast at 8pm next thing I was in simpleminds concert they won't that good and didn't play an otcore 😮
