The non-existing AI offering in regards to motion detection will eventually kick you to the curve competition-wise Synology. Coming into 2021 every tinkering with motion detection (areas, e-mail frequency etc) are all somewhat dated compromises and workarounds that will only get you so far. As everybody with a little present day experience with surveillance cams and NVR solutions knows nowadays one of the prime objectives for the users is avoiding false positives without compromising actual detection. However, as far as I can tell there's no humanoid/facial detection setting in SS to increase accuracy at all. I'd surely expect that - especially when needing to pay for camera licenses. You need to level up the IQ of your SS to match what e.g. Google and Eufy brings to the table. Any expected major updates in the pipeline in regards to this?
There's one problem with POE or wireless as it can be beat in 5 seconds. Cut the ac and wait 45 minutes in case there's a ups! I also notice most camera makers insist on making them white which stands out. A darker or wood color would easier blend in!
Great Video, however I would have liked you to spend more time explaining how the Sensitivity and Threshold in event detection works i.e difference in setting and what it means to your event picture
Absolutely, Kevin. It is nearly impossible to find any information on the quantitative nature of the settings. For example, what percentage of screen size needs to change at a given threshold? Or whatever the algorithm is... No info... Very frustrating.
Is this application compatible with Ring cameras?, because it require to have a monthly fee for Ring to view the recordings, can i use the NAS to view all my recordings instead ?
If you’re investing in kit like this you don’t need Ring cameras. This is a different proposition. With Synology surveillance you can choose from any IP outdoor can you want and both the software and hardware will arguably be better than Ring. Ring is a simple off the shelf solution. Works great if that’s what you want.
Thanks love your products and business model.

Can you block out certain parts in the FOV? For instance the Street, the Neighbours Garden, etc?
How to change the date like (12/02/2021) rather than the original backward sinology date display (2021/02/12)?
I bought the DS920+ and HDD's. Now I have to buy cameras; I need 6.
Honestly 200€ for an extra 4 camera license, is completely ridiculous!
Good product, but the licence price per camera is just isane for home user. More than the price of my cameras! Why??
The licence cost should be no more than $20.oo each.. $60.oo per camera is crazy
Coming from an S2 netVR with a 10k every 2 year support contract required, 60 per camera is cheap.
I haven't seen a good explanation as to what distinguishes threshold and sensitivity. Any help or resources?

That’s a really good video, thanks.
I FUCKING LOVE SYNOLOGY! Thanks for every pice of new great software!
Great video and broad domains. Good to prep a new deployment or review a current set up.
I love Synology, you guys are the Apple of NAS!
The apple of NAS LOL as if apple have any irrelevance in technology
Could be nice, if surveillance stations could handle higher resolutions without frame drops :(
I put everything on the same IP subnet, with the same failures. Synology, fix your app.

no

Is ring camera works with synology?
No. Ring only works with their paid cloud subscription.
