- In this video, I will show you how to connect sim800l to network when sim800l blinks 3 times and stops. Most of the time it is power supply issue. why sim800l blinks 3 times and stops? its due to over voltage or under voltage power down and I will show you how to solve it. you can easily do sim800l troubleshooting with this tutorial.

I get some question marks when I send the AT command :/ I'm working on Smart GPS tracker project and it doesn't find the sim card so I thought maybe the GSM module has some problems since it blinks 3 times. Damn my deadline is after tomorrow and I still can't figure it out

you have issue with serial communication. verify baudrate. some sim800l modules requires 3.3v on tx pin. if that is the case you need to add level shifter on modules tx pin

fully charged the battery. use short length wires from battery to sim800l
led in my 800l sim module, it blinks about 6 times, 1 second each time then stops, then blinks 6 times and then stops, the action keeps repeating continuously and I can't make calls and send messages. Can you show me how to fix that? thank you
it is just the power issue. check your power supply. keep the length of the power wire as short as possible.
Greaaat! I've a question.I've supplied the gsm SIM 800L module with 5v of arduino and the serial monitor showed me OK when i sent the AT command but if i tried to send other commands like "AT+CMGF" and "AT+CMGS" it showed me ERROR. How to solve this problem? what should i do?
some gsm module works fine on 5v.
are you sending just AT+CMGF or AT+CMGF=1

try to use 3.7v battery to power the sim800l.

My gsm module is not connecting to the network. The serial monitor is showing that "Network not connected". I am using 3.7v 1200 mAh battery to power it. Led starts blinking every 2s for few seconds but after again led starts blinking every second. What should i do? Or should i use other sim card? I am using bsnl sim card.

any 2G sim card will work. try to use short length wires from battery to sim800l
Hi my friend, i cant connect to the network even itcant response to AT commands. It does nothing. I write AT and pressed enter and does norhing. Just blinking 7-8 times abd stops and again does that.im sure powering is great

Hello, I hope you could help me, I am using 3.7V Li-ion 18650 3200 mAh battery, 5g sim and nodemcu to test my sim800l. The serial monitor only shows initializing sim800l sometimes with foreign characters, and question marks. The network is also connected since it only blinks once every 3 seconds. Also, when I enter AT commands nothing happens, what do you think is the problem? Please help me, thank you.
I think you did not select the correct baudrate in the serial monitor

1. Check the connections: Make sure all the connections between the SIM800L module, the NodeMCU/Arduino, and the battery are secure and properly connected.
2. Check the baud rate: Verify that you have set the correct baud rate in your code and serial monitor. The default baud rate for the SIM800L module is 9600, so try setting it to that if you haven't already.
if the problem persists then just use another module to verify it.

@@AhmadLogs hi, thanks for the advice. i was able to communicate the serial between nodemcu and sim800l. I soldered pins to my battery holder, it seems like i was having voltage drops making the connection unstable.
Sir I have tried multiple times but my. Module blinks for 7 times and then restart automatically. I have used lm25896 buck converter but still have this issue. I have used 124k 4G Airtel sim card.is there have any problem? I have no 2G sim card.What should I do?

use 2A and 4v power supply. sim card must be 2g. test the gsm module antenna.

you may use 2000 mAh, I am using 2500 mAh. but 2000mAh is also fine

I have the same problem,i the module seems connecting ( led OK ) but no response from AT command
some suggestions.
1. check your rx and tx connections
2. check boudrate of your serial monitor
3. use a voltage divider on rx pin of sim800l

@@imadhoo some sim800l modules works strangely. I have a sim800l module that works perfectly on 5v dc. the best way to work with sim800l is always use 3.7v and at least 1000mAh battery. sometimes you need to use Level Shifter for serial communication. according to datasheet, sim800l working voltages are 4.4v to 3.4v. it also require 2A current when use function like call, sms, gprs etc.

2. if you have inserted 2g sim card in the gsm module. then first test it by inserting it in your mobile phone.
3. disable sim card lock.

2. Have you try some other sim800l with the same configuration.
