I love how the videos and pics have no resemblance to the narration.
And even less correlation to the annoying music drowning out everything!
Reminds me of a 3rd grade project completed 1 hour before the deadline. Holy shit that was rough 😆
You didn't know 1/50th of this in third grade....
By the way, quit stealing and plagiarizing other people's comments, just like you plagiarized your 3rd grade reports. 🙄
This went so far beyond facts in so many ways! Obviously it was not tested enough before delivery.
When a non-technical person explains technical stuff
This video compares quite well to a report I did in 5th grade.
Sure, sure.... you didn't even know what a nuclear powered sea vessel was in 5th grade... 🙄
@@davelowets And how would you know that?
There are many inaccuracies with this video. I have Sea trialed approximately 50 ships over a career thats approximately 30 years. There are only a handful of nuclear powered merchant Ships While there a few nuclear powered CVNs and More SSNs and Ssbns in service today. Many ships have conventional boiler and Steam Turbine propulsion plant.
From a family of marine diesel engineers, and this video is very innacurate in many ways.
The only thing being tested here is my patience
That is SO COOL how dolphins swim just ahead of the bow. They are having fun!
It's amazing what man can build
Definitely beyond facts, not an accurate fact in this video
Yeah this channel is like the dumbass on break that reads the news on his phone and thinks he's giving facts... but you can tell he just ain't right
.
Actually you're wrong, the one correct fact is that ships were powered by steam, the rest is absolute bs
Nuclear to diesel? That seems backwards.
Exactly!
love they way they went from nuclear to diesel. EVOLUTION
The Maxima made it to Duluth, MN last year. Very cool looking ship! Was a treat to see in person.
Definitely got me with the thumbnail. Yes, I watched all the way through so you got that one. Won't happen again.
My dirty mind seeing that thumbnail
Where does the last rivet go on a ship ?? Answer ! In the last hole ! Boom Boom!
You need to add some details on how the test bed look like. For e.g. when the engine is being tested @ OEM facility, do they put the engine on any ship or just run them in factory and measure the torque produced?
During sea trial, is it installed on actual main ship or some test-ship ? What if the sea trial fail, is the engine sent back to OEM for correction ?
1:35 Marine tech became so advanced they started smashing that like button😂😂
"...The crankshaft moves in SOME fashion..."
😂🤣
Can you imagine sailing without using an engine? That's how sailors travelled.
We hope you enjoed the video. Help us to grow by subscribing www.bit.ly/beyondFactsSUB
The video had fuck all to do with the description just a load of stolen content from elsewhere.
okay ...
done
This is one of the most misinformation filled pieces of media that I've personally ever come across on you tube. Terrible narrator is just repeating same largely incorrect information repeatedly. Terrible composition for the most part
Facts 😂
Facts my lily white ass!
I’m just wondering if these ships have to undergo any tests or anything before they go into service?
😂
MANY
Bro the thumbnail got me
Let's not forget the trial trial trial.
Great video !
hoping to see blasting hydrojet but nope…. I comment to help but I’m a bit disappointed…
The video thumbnail had me thinking projectile diarrhea. Must be just me.
WOAH! when you said smash the like button, it did a rainbow thingy 🤯🤯
The dolphins swimming with the test ship was super cool.
that was the dolfintest
Whoever made this should do some more testing instead of begging for “likes.” There were a lot of inaccuracies in here.
I know of exactly ONE nuclear fueled civilian cargo vessel, that spent much of its career tied up to the dock because other countries wouldn't allow it in. Since WW2 most new cargo vessels have been diesel as well as most passenger vessels, the exception being the US since we don't make any big diesels (12,000+ HP) so we continued with steam turbines that combined high fuel consumption with larger engine crews when compared to the diesels. The result is that there isn't much large shipbuilding in the US and our commercial fleet is very small. The US and the Russians have used a number of nuclear powered military vessels, both surface and submarines, and there have been a handful in other countries. The Russians have several nuclear icebreakers, we don't. We have one operable heavy duty icebreaker that is over 40 years old and a medium duty one that is near twenty, oh, we do have one that is lakebound in the great lakes.
When did manual coal firing fase out in the us? , when they went to steam turbines ? Where ther also ships with
Automatic solid fuel solutions?
@@perstaffanlundgren ummm what? Phase out coal? The steam turbines were mostly powered by coal. Coal burning ships died with diesel. What is automatic solid fuel?
I was gonna say I don't recall any nuclear powered cargo ships bedsides the NS Savannah. I believe it's a far more advanced propulsion system than bunker fuel/diesel or natural gas. The benefits of being able to go for years without refueling coupled with less pollution seems to be common sense, but unfortunately, I fear "green" activists would never allow such ships to exist. More of a politics issue than a technology problem.
Have you possibly heard of the company Fairbanks Morse? They make several diesel engines that are over 12000 hp. They are based out of Beloit, Wi.
@@Adam-en4zm Nuclear ships are super expensive to build, when GB built its new aircraft carrier they went with diesel because nuclear cost many many millions more. I'm not sure if the parts are much more expensive, or if having so many safety features makes them much more expensive.
I think you forgot the test test and the pre-test test, the post-test and the test of the test test.
Actually most nuclear powered ships are submarines; unless you classify submarines as boats. Size isn't the issue with nuclear reactors on ships, the reactors are smaller than the huge diesel engines but there is the steam turbine to consider as well.
The real reason nuclear has not caught on except with subs, carriers and some ice breakers is that meeting safety requirements and nuclear training for shipboard personnel isn't cheap and paranoia about nuclear power limited their appeal.
i wouldn't call the possibility of a nuclear vessel being hijacked by terrorists "paranoia"
@@innnlove facts, I thought I was the only one thinking about it
@@innnlove dont think thats what he was talking about more like a nuclear meltdown but that would be pretty bad
spitting facts
Subs have never been classed as ships. The thinking is this
A boat fits onto a ship, a ship cannot fit onto a boat
So no Sub will ever be classed a ship no matter how big they become.
Two minutes in and the narration doesn't match what's on the screen. Didn't bother finishing.
I smashed the like button when you said so. Great video, you got me there
Around 1970 marine started smashing the like button just like you are about to do
Finally they will do test on test
The third one is smashing that like button, simply hilarious. 😂😂
Narrator could do a great Kermit the frog impression
For those calling out inaccuracies - accuracy of RUclips videos don't matter, Only likes and subscriptions to the channel.
Wonderful!
No way the engine only costs 1 million
I like Engine and its working.
They knew what they were doing when they made that thumbnail... congrats... it worked...
Once all the testing is complete, the ship is near its useby date.
By the time all the testing is done, the engine is worn out and needs to be rebuilt. lol
NZer here - good shot there of the Interislander ferry crossing Cook Strait in rough seas!
Seen that aswell! Blue bridge is smelly, always cattle trucks on it 😂
hey look that's Richard Hammond from top gear at 4:03 there. Hamster made a start appearance once again
As an ex Chief Engineer sailed on merchant ships I can say lots of info were actually 'Beyond facts' ,pun intended...but a good video overall with too much tried to cover up.
2:36- The double-acting 2-stroke engine!
Did anyone else see that thumbnail and say, "No dude! Stop!"
The most amazing thing is how the heck this guy does so many voice overs on RUclips? It’s mind blowing
It's voice changer used that does the work. Not actually them
🤣
Very interesting video but gave up. Turn the damn music down or better yet leave it out. Way too loud and annoying.
very nice engineering
The interislander and the blue bridge at the end of the video, ive been on both of them they go between the south and north islands of new Zealand
Very important blackout test... very important
I enjoyed the video, but my hearing sucks. I think I the background music was roughly twice as loud as it needed to be. Just friendly constructive criticism! 🖖😀
The background music is not needed. Period.
I agree. You do not need music at all. If he was on a stage talking to an audience ther would be no band playing. Very annoying.
Glad you compare the weight to blue whales. I pick them up regularly and can totally relate.
bye for now?! that was abrupt lol
Jeeze, who was the technical editor in this video.
Some say the engine that was manufactured in 2001 is still being tested
I'm sure there was several tests that where only tested when the test results from the tests where tested, all that said other tests from previous tests resulted in new tests that will be tested when new tests are neded
It, have to go through that amount of tests.
New drinking game. Every time he says test you take a sip of beer, everytime he says trial you take a shot. Pregame done in 8:37 👌
imagine if vehicles had all those tests
There was only one commercial ship ever to have a nuclear power plant. The S S Savannah.
Anyone else see the dolphins racing the ship
YES ! Amazing and the best part of the video by far !
See what you want is to get a boat and test it, within the testing rules by the testing person with testing experience and testing knowledge. If there is any problems found during testing, you will need to consult with the testing tester
I too call BS
I love when I see an interesting thumbnail, but don't see that shot or anything like it in the video.
We take over new built vessel. After short time there was more than 300 guaranty claims . Liners, injectors, pistons, pipe cracks etc…
Do they go through any tests?
Drink Game : Take a shot every time he says TEST
Mistakes. And smash the like button Bs.
Smash that no mistakes button.
"COSTS a MILLION DOLLARS".............TRY $10,000,000 or $20,000,000!!!!!
The thumbmail make me realise that my brain is so far gone that i need to stay away from the internet fo a few day.
There are far more nuclear powered submarines than aircraft carriers.
My a a very m uchoiegh hhigh
That's becouse there are more submarines than aircraft carriers
This deep dive seems a little shallow. Testing 123…
the thumbnail 🗿☠️
Some car enthusiast is trying to figure out how to fit one of these into his Miata
If you want me to smash that like button please pay attention at the information you include in your content. Ship engines do not use diesel but heavy fuel oil. Marine diesels precede nuclear propulsion by almost half a century, and most nuclear propelled ships are not carriers but submarines.
The mention of trials was mentioned a lot . What do the trials consist of . A load of hot air and repitition .
Ship engines rule
Can anyone talk about how the Ship Engine tester made some of us go wild?
What the HELL are you talking about??
Nice video. But the music is unnecessary.
It's a screw not a propeller
🤣🤣🤣🤣⚓️🔧
When I was in the Navy we called it a screw.
@@edwardross4767
I know, but in other parts of the world its called a propeller.
For a screw we need a screwdriver.😜
Same with turbocharging. US: boost pressure, other side of pond: charge air pressure.
Who cares, as long as we try to understand each other.
@@janvisser2223 I care, that was the whole premise of my comment. Propellers are on planes. Screws are on ships.. I love that you think the guy in the NAVY is wrong...
@@Joe_Blow215 😅 What a pity that you did not understand my comment as I did not say that the Navy people get it wrong, they have a Different name for the same thing.
I am a marine engineer on merchant ships since 78 and have always used the term propeller in English and Schroef (what’s in a name) in Dutch.
And not to make fun of anybody: i just realised that a propeller on planes was in the past also called an .... airscrew.
I am now starting to wonder which was first: screw or propeller? Interesting!
Good lord; with all of these tests, I cannot imagine the length of sales cycle it takes if you were to be a sales rep for the company. Plus, it’s a niche market, too. Not every family in the world would want to buy a Wärtsilä-Sulzer RTA96-C engine for their homes.
I can take a 16v34w
That's why they cost what they cost... 🤷
Who is the narrator on this video? I hear his voice over’s everywhere!
How is the most common type of ship engine a Liquified Natural Gas engine that runs on heavy fuel oil? These are totally different. This video is seriously hopeless. Maybe have someone review your script before posting
When I watched this channel I also read comments and lots not agreed what the host explained..I just noticed that..
Nic big boss
Did u do sinking test? Howlong it take to sink
When you allow ChatGPT to write your narrative...
That will definitely fit in a MIATA
james how many channels di you narate fir?
Wanted to see what was going on in the thumb nail but y'all never showed it
I remember that guy working on the inside of that shape engine and accidentally got locked in burnt up in it 😧
After all that testing the engine is retired because it's worn out already.
Okay, this is a cool video and all, but there are many inaccuracies, and many where the video doesn't match the words being spoken (the video you showed of a "14 cylinder engine", was an 8 cylinder one), and you said that LNG engines burn HFO, which is not true either, they burn LNG, hence the name. And container ships generally don't use them, they use diesel/HFO engines instead (switching from one fuel to another depending on which area they are in). And basically everything about stability was inaccurate at best. I know that you try to make a video that is sub 10 minutes, that tries cover as many subjects at once. So i get it, you're gonna cut some corners in order to make a smooth video. But the result is so many corners cut that the video is basically misinformation.
(just to clarify, i still appreciate that you made the video, but as a Marine Engineer myself the inaccuracies hurt a lot)
Imagine. This big engine 81 MW.
And today there are supercar EV`s with tiny electric motors giving over 1 MW.
