Don't think he pinged any surface ships, only the sub. Is that how Gato plays? Good game, thanks for sharing.
Gato has very long range “dumb” torps, 16.5 km, but not very fast. Homing torps are extremely fast, 95 kph, but very short range, 6 km, I think, and the ping is the same range. It’s very risky to go after a surface ship with air strike depth charges at that range. Also since the sub nerf, it is almost impossible to “shotgun” a target at close range due to the reduction in damage. Gato was hurt by the nerf much more than the U-4501, in my opinion.
You can ping both subs and surface ships however if your going after the sub the ping will show up on the surface as well. Thanks for watching
