thanks! I didn't have white sugar so I used coconut sugar, and it worked great. I didn't realize how much smoke it would make (we don't have a kitchen fan!), so I had to take it outside to finish stirring. Since the pot was still hot, the caramel continued to burn for a bit even off the heat of the stove. The smell reminds me of burnt marshmallows over the camp fire :)
Oh my goodness I had no Idea how to make browning. There has been so many times I ran out of browning. N I have been trayping up n down looking for this In all the shops. After my local supermarket ran out. Thankyou so much for sharing.
Thank you so much for this recipe. I will try it soon. Believe it or not, this will be the perfect substitute for something very similar in Danish cooking. In Danish it's called "Kulør" and I have never seen it for sale in Canada.
Thank u so much. Have some oxtail here and don't have any browning, they used to sell it here but the stop. 🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲 now I can enjoy my oxtail and bean❤❤🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
The first time i saw your channel i was just browsing and i started to watch and then i subscribe then i went to bed. So this is my second time on your channel and i do like what im seeing because i have been cutting down on meat and i was wondering how im going to do different things and i like what im seeing the first one im going to try is the curry chickpeas
That's it!? All this time I have been holding back when making Jamaican food because I couldn't find browning and I often just use soy sauce as a substitute and think I'm not really having a full experience because I locked that ingredient but it turns out it's just sugar and water.
From what i read, up yo six months. I only make a little at a time. I use a 1/4 cup of sugar at a time. For thr water i use an 1/8 cup of water. (I use brown sugar)
In some cases the molasses work. The browning is more so great for savory dish and the molasses is great for sweets although both can be use at the same time for instance to make bbq sauce.
All browning sauce is sugar and water 😂🤦🏾♀️ I’m glad I came to RUclips, instead of going to the market for the sauce😂🤦🏾♀️ Thank you ❣️😌🙏🏾
I think that I can do that, since burning is a major portion of the process
☺️
😂😂
I bet you I still burn mine... 😩

“All dem adah fancy suga” Lol. Thanks for the recipe and the laugh! Blessings.

Crosse and Blackwell used to distribute it in Canada but it has been discontinued. I used it for years for my roast beef gravy, in Toronto

Wow! Such an illustrious red-brown colour. I wonder what reaction makes it go from white to brown like that?
Burning the sugar using heat.
it's called the Maillard reaction, after a French chemist's discovery in 1912
Thanks for sharing my sister!
simple and amazing! Thank you.

It seems easy, now i can make my black cake.
Thanks a lot ❤️
Thank you 🙏🏾
Pls wat is the work of brownies in cakes
Can you do a video doing this with brown sugar?
Do you need to use on the day or can it last a while if I make a lot?. Thanks for the video x
It can last up to a month. Store in your refrigerator in an air tight container.
So glad to see a Vegan channel
How long will this last in the fridge? That way I can pop a date on top of it to know when it's no good anymore.
It can last up to 3 months even more
@@AuthenticPlantbasedEats Nice, thanks for replying.
Thanks for this! I couldn’t find any browning at the grocery store. Now I will never buy it again
If I mek it how long can it keep ina da fridge.?
Do you have to put something at bottom of the pan before you put the sugar in the pan?
No
How long it last in the fridge?
Thanks so much,
Exactly my need. Since it’s sugar I guess it will conserve well in the fridge for few weeks. 🤣
Can’t wait for the jerk recipe ☺️☺️☺️ 😁
Yess, it can even last for a few months.
@@AuthenticPlantbasedEats even better that’s perfect 👌
How to use oil to burn it and not make it bitter ?
I thought a little salt was added at the end ??
For how long can I keep it on the refrigerator?
From what i read, up yo six months.
I only make a little at a time. I use a 1/4 cup of sugar at a time. For thr water i use an 1/8 cup of water. (I use brown sugar)
Could you do a video on pasta?
Will black strap molasses work instead?
I don’t think so
Very handy- thank you! Do you think molasses would be a good substitute?
In some cases the molasses work. The browning is more so great for savory dish and the molasses is great for sweets although both can be use at the same time for instance to make bbq sauce.
The taste is so strong I’d rather use the store bought browning.
😃😃
A friend though me how to brown sugar from some meat dishes . I didn't know i was making bowmen
😳
Every time I add the water to the sugar it gets hard, my mom browns her meat with oil and sugar.
Water should be boiling hot as sudden change in extremr temperature will crystalise the sugar so make sure the water is boiling hot
@kaleelurrahaman871 thanks!
It's literally molasses
I can I freeze fresh Irish moss
Ofcourse, to make it easier you can pour in ice tray.
