This recipe is my favorite🤌🏻! Alright…. 30 years ago my dad got a jerk marinade recipe from a lady he worked with. It was my favorite. He died about 10 years ago and I never got the recipe. I knew it had orange juice in it so that how I searched and found this video. I made this/your recipe a few months ago and would bet money it was 98% identical. Well, I found his password for his email account this morning and found his recipe in an email to my cousin and the only difference was he used rice wine vinegar and red wine vinegar both more and he used habanero instead of scotch bonnet and added cayanne if it wasn’t hot enough. Just so happy to have found this video. 👊🏻👊🏻
You are the first person to show me how to make jerk marinade I wanna say like 2014 and my family ask me to make it all the time !!! Thank you for sharing
I made this today....OMG!!! I followed your recipe to the tee, I just doubled it so I could freeze some...THIS IS SO FLAVORFUL....I'd say it has more flavor than Walkerswood Jerk sauce. I'm never buying Jerk sauce ever again.
@@gamesmaster90 its because ready made marinades will never top fresh ingredients. Even if a simple marinade. If the garlic, green onion, ginger etc is fresh its a flavor bomb
Fan flippin tastic! Marinated chicken thighs and made Jamaican rice n peas for a side. Whipped up a habanero aoili with peppers, Mayo, Dijon, honey, lemon juice and salt to drizzle all over. Best meal I’ve ever made. Thank you!!
I made this but in beef! It tasted like take out!!! 2 scotch bonnet peppers is not spicy enough but you can add more after! Also had no salt in the recipe that is also adjustable! Perfect recipe koopa!
Chris - I love the show, tips and recipes. Don't sweat the hater's - they are either looking for attention or are small minded and can't handle concept that there is more variation.
I am cooking Jerk drumsticks right now!!!!!!!! And coconut rice!!! With zucchini, squash & butternut squash on the side!!!!😋😋😋😋😋. P.S. I don’t even measure anymore, I guesstimate, add what’s on hand, blend and add to meat, and delicious every time!!! I used nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, and ground mace, and man, Wow!!!!!!!!!
I just made a dry jerk seasoning mix using the best ingredients. _Breaking whole allspice in my grinder, grating whole nutmeg, etc._ I'm making jerk shrimp today to pair with my homemade mango salsa, and was looking for the perfect marinade. I believe I found it! You've got a new subscriber man. *THANKS!*
I have just had thos recommended to me by the algorythm. I'm 2 minutes in, forget the food, you have the most amazing accent, im not in romantic love, but i love it. I have now finished the video, that would blow my head off with those scotch bonnets, but as they say, 'when in Rome'....i might remove the seeds though. Thank you, a great 5 minutes and an instant subscribe
Chris I’ve been using your old jerk marinade for years and is a hit with my whole family (the one with the old skool blender in the photo). I add broadleaf thyme to kick up the flavor, very excited to see an new take on this classic!
you blew my mind using the ginger skins.... I'm gonna end up using so much ginger in my recipes dread... Thanks for that tip, I never thought you could leave it in like that.
Nice recipe, you know the basics and you added very traditional flavors. I use a little more all spice in mine but this looks delicious. I think you represented wonderfully
Greetings General i am very thankful for your vids. In Surinam we use these kinds of marinade too your posts are very inspiring. Thanks man keep up the good work
Chris, while on a sailing trip in 2019 passing through Port Antonio we went to Piggy’s Jerk Centre to get some chicken, we asked for the jerk marinate and I got two bottles. One of them I opened about a year ago and it was still good, super spicy and delicious. The second one I still have.
I recently tried a store bought jerk sauce i’ve asked my sister to send it from Florida but i didn’t lie it. I rather make it myself. I definitely have to try this one.
Summer time here in Australia now which means jerk chicken time! Reminds me of being in Belize and eating jerk every day: chicken, ribs, snapper - just the best
Chris... Doe worry widdem haters... They full of what need flushin'! Wish they wish they could cook like you and have a sweet hand. You carry on regardless you hear
Im in greece right now so had to use habanero for scot bonnet, and i had no pimento it was tasting wrong so i used ouzo 😂 and it actually came out banging
Looks delicious. I'm on a low carb lifestyle so I would be changing a few things here. No Orange Juice - maybe extra lemon & lime juices, substitute the brown sugar with Sukrin Gold or Swerve Brown Sugar alternative. Omit the honey and I can get pretty close flavours to yours. I've got some delicious boneless/skinless chicken thighs I want to smoke on my Recteq smoker and this recipe sounds like an amazing add on. Thank you.
I've followed/read many recipes on jerk and served in TX on the yard bird or just wings, grilled and hickory smoked - NOBODY has complained in 5-8 years. These raw recipes all follow a similar thread. Honey-gave a nice golden crystalline finish too
Another bomb drop ppl look out uncle kris getting wicked this holiday season just getting better thanks for sharing bro keep d good works up god bless stay safe
Yes Chef Chris!! I love this recipe. I'm definitely going to make it but I will make up enough to freeze some and keep some out for whatever dish I'm going to make it with. Thanks again for another great recipe.
Yes, I always make extra so I can freeze it and, also, to give to friends and family. They think I'm amazing but it's really all you, Chris at Caribbean Pot.
I made one of your older jerk marinades. best jerk marinade I've ever had. this recipe is amazing too. the only thing I add that's different is some Worcestershire sauce. love your videos. curry chicken is my favorite.
Hello Chis, thank you so much. Just s question, i saw the recipe in the description but there's no amount of black pepper, would you tell me how much, please?
i had to help my friend cater for 15 people. i was nervous as hell, as i have not cook for anybody for a long time. and i decided to to do this marinate, well i got no feed back of how it taste from the guest, but my best friend who i was helping love it.. she said if she had taste it before she would not have let me give it away to her neighbour. so i am going to do this again and surprise her so i end this by saying thank you carribeanpot

This is why I love Caribbean food. So much flavour going into this marinade. Gives your taste buds the right kinda kick.
so true

@@caribbeanpotIs there a substitute for the soy sauce if you don’t eat soy?
@atlsongbyrd6084 it's not needed, just a carrier add a little water if the mix is dry without it
