    Aside from just being anxious about making sure you didn't do something shitty, I don't see how a subathon can in anyway be a scam. All those people made the conscious, FREE decisions to donate money to extend the stream, cause they wanted it to keep going, and decided the price was worth it. How is that in any way a scam? Even if some of the donations are kids, that's not on ludwig, that's on the kids parents for not keeping a closer eye on them

      Crow didn’t do anything at all, he just inadvertently gave everyone a gambling addiction
      (Edit) Therefore, chat is their own demons

    • @AtomicFlounder42
      @AtomicFlounder42 2 года назад +5

      @@ShirtlessLuke2 I didn't watch it, ive only seena few clips? How did the gambling work? Cause when you add gambling aspects, then when nobody gets what they're aiming for, it starts to seem like maybe they rigged the gambling aspect. That's makes it a bit iffy compared to say lud subathon which was a straight rate, you pay x amount, it adds x seconds to the clock

    • @andymitts251
      @andymitts251 2 года назад +36

      @@AtomicFlounder42 it was a simple distribution from 0 seconds to 60 seconds, with the weighting slightly changing each day to make it harder to keep going as the subathon went on longer. I think the average was at 21 second when it ended.
      There were also really rare rolls of -1 minutes and 5 minutes per sub that hit sometimes

    • @ShirtlessLuke2
      @ShirtlessLuke2 2 года назад +10

      What Andy said. I was mostly memeing in my comment, but I was half serious. Regardless though, chat subbed and donated of their own free will. I know I can’t speak for everyone, but I sure as hell got addicted to watching the roll for the timer whenever somebody subbed.

    • @luvssmarties5
      @luvssmarties5 2 года назад +52

      For those wondering, the “guac rule” is Crow’s analogy of saying you don’t need to buy a sub until you don’t question whether you want to get guac or not at Chipotle since it’s extra money. If you debate whether or not to get guac, then don’t pay for a sub. If you don’t consider the price of whether to get guac or not, then it’s a reasonable thing to say you’re financially able to sub to him

    I think asking for money from your subscribers is a good thing, only if it's required for them to have enough money to not work a full-time job. But if it gets them more than enough money to do middle class then they should settle down a little bit.
