You pull out a 425 transmission and all you want to do is reseal it up? You BETTER replace the chain in it. The reason for the carbon build up under the intake gasket is lack of oil changes. Don't use 50 ft. of fuel line, use as much steel line as possible and use short sections of rubber to transition to steel. You can thank me later.
It might pay to look at the engine compression readings on an old engine just to be sure it's in the normal range . If you're getting a lot of blow by then those new gaskets and seals won't last long . I'm sure you know that but a DIY person might not.
If anyone wants one of these in working (but not restored) condition I have a 23 foot 1977 I'd be willing to part with for 6k. Bought it on a whim and don't have the time/money to refurbish it.
Jim Bounds lol... just a thought, heard these old engines didn’t have great power.... i am actually looking at your available coaches for sale. The electric vehicle conversion one looks good.
@@jameshenneberg1937 But you need a transmission strong enough to take the torque of a diesel, and the transmission on that is unique that it is a longitudinal front wheel drive (and I doubt that Allison will be making a front drive version of the MT-650).
@@adamcartermi5 Where did you get the idea these engines don't make much power? These engines are known as torque monsters. Ever heard of a 442 Cutlass?
Jim! Thank you so much for sharing this video!!!! Love you for that. I so needed to hear this from you.

Nice Original GMC is worth what $5k and then $10k to make it road & camp worthy but still don't have necessary or nice upgrades.
Its all about enjoying a vintage camper, If you want "modern ammenities" vintage campers are not for you.
Give it a gold watch lol

You think an engine swap with dodge hellcat is feasible?
No, well anything can be done with cubic dollars, but no. Why?

A diesel engine would be a better choice
