      Gary, I was thinking the same way. I've saw those engines backfire before while pouring raw gas down the carb. I was cringing when he held the open can over the carb while the engine was cranking.

    Andrew if it hasn't been run for 7 years the gas has probably stale and lost a lot of its flamability. One of my friends has the same one out here in New Zealand. We drive on the left out here too. Every time you drive past a gas station it wants to pull in. Its thirsty. Its a barge. You have to watch where the back end is if you park it near power pole or trash basket as they have a fair bit of length behind the axle and if you have to pull out sharply from the kerb to get around a car in front you can club various things with the back corner. LOL But it is nice inside.

  • @Darryl603

    Way to go drew! She got the BIG block power in the Arrow! Check for a mechanical fuel pump on the engine. Nice workaround for the fuel issue

    • @TWX1138
      @TWX1138 5 лет назад +1

      And definitely don't neglect to check that mechanical fuel pump, if equipped, because it could be that the lever-actuated diaphragm has failed. That might allow fuel pumped from the electric pump to pour into the crankcase through the mechanical pump, which could also explain why the fuel economy was atrocious.

    Remove the gas cap. From where you disconnected the fuel line at the pressure regulator, blow compressed air back to the tank. Have someone listen for the air back at the fill. Once you know you have air making it to the tank, put the cap back on and put more air through the line and listen underneath the coach for air hissing out of a line... Very often when RV's sit, they end up with rotted fuel lines. I believe this is due to people starting them every now and then and ending up putting water into the lines where it rots them.. Fix any leaks. Drop the tank and clean it out. Replace ALL GAS FILTERS. Reinstall tank and add gas. With the line still disconnected at the regulator, aim it into a jug or bottle and pressurize the tank with air and a clean rag. Once the gas makes it up to your jug, STOP... Hook up the line to the regulator and fire that puppy up!!!
    Any time you are going to let an engine sit, add gas stabilizer. It won't last forever, but much longer than plain old gas.... While you are under it, check all the brake lines too!!!

    In 1969 the, PACE ARROW RV debuted at the midwest RV an outdoor camping show in Fort Wayne Indiana. It took the diesel powered RV world by storm.
    Because it was without a doubt ahead of its time. And it stayed that way even after Fleetwood bought the company in 1974 and they kept it on the cutting edge all the way up to 1985 when they stop producing it.
    As a matter of fact, my parents owned one they bought brand new in 1976 and so did one of my aunt and uncles at the same time. At the Florida RV expo in Cocoa Beach Florida.
    My aunt Betty Jean and my uncle Joe who both worked for NASA at the time. She, was one of my mothers sister.
    My grandparents had nine kids. 5 sons and 4 daughters. So needless to say I had 5 uncles and 4 aunts.
    And these RVs stayed on the course of the preferred used RV all the way up to right about 2002.

    Thanks for the great video mate, there's a whole lot of people that won't even try to repair anything these days, and a whole lot more that wouldn't even know where or what a engine is .Your videos are really well filmed and there's a lot of work goes into making them , and not just holding a camera but putting them in different places and perspectives your editing is flawless making them easy to follow and watch. Cheers from down under

      For a motor that sits a long time you wouldn't need to put in a new one... Must've blown the bottom end up usually these motors don't last because of the massive amount of weight theyre pulling

      running out on 3 gallons that fast really helps you visualize how much gas it's burning.

    • @stanpatterson5033
      @stanpatterson5033 6 лет назад +6

      Yeah, I thought about that too... 3 gallons wouldn't make it ten miles. But then again, it wasn't running quite right, dead battery, no in-tank pump, no return line, not all that shocked that it sucked back 3 gallons in no time flat. If she were to be going any sort of distance, I'd show her a little love, check her over a bit more thoroughly, tune-up, and as many other commenters have said, the obvious fixes like a proper fuel pump and a new fuel filter. It may not be that the pump is pooched, just may be a poor elec. connection.

      That's why those things were so popular with the older crowd or the people who actually had the time and money to deal with them, they were gas hogs 10 to 11 miles to the gallon, and that was at best 8 or 9 was a better estimate!!

    I have used a spray bottle ( usually windex or generic. pour that in washer reservoir ) with a very small amount of gas just for troubleshooting squirted in the intake.
    This is safer than 5 gallons of gasoline held over a potential explosion and all the fun and game that come with that.
    Glad this worked out better than the exciting video that it could have been.
    I would love to find a gem like that. Cool video.

    The battery is one of the most important parts of the electrical system of any vehicle or piece of equipment. Sure it will run without it after it is started but the voltage is not stable and if you do it with a fuel injected computer controlled vehicle it will cause all kinds of issues and possibly fry the ECU

      Yeast infection is most typical problem for dogs, later progressing to full blown ear infection. Compromised immune system as a result of GMO dog food. Collidal Silver a natural antibiotic, 10ppm strength, 4 oz in water for dog 30lbs, 8oz in water for 60# plus dog. Amazon sells it or the local drug store for $10 for 8-10 oz, or you can make your own... Collidial Silver given the correct dose will kill an ear infection the same day. Long term get better quality dog food.

    Adam, i was pouring gas into a carb that way. Backfired blew ignited raw gas onto my hand. Results were 2nd and 3rd degree burns a trip to a burn center and skin grafts and surgery. Lucky it wasnt worse and didnt burn my garage down in the process. Very dangerous, Dollar store ketchup squirt bottle wouldve saved me a ton of money.
