@@lml6.653 - Wrong, I'm from the same area as Andrew and people don't want to pay for your new $60k truck. I show up with references of past work and a $2500 van. My yellow lab did the same thing when he got old. they do a stutter step until you help them. I really do think older dogs want it's humans help getting in, and they know they will get it if they stutter step.
Some people use a wide long board as a ramp to allow their family member dog to climb in under his/her own power - but it's really nice the way Andrew helps Levi into the truck. Something like the ones here: www.chewy.com/b/steps-ramps-449
Well, two things to say here - 1./ I think Andrew tossed a couple of Levi's emergency bones from out under the passenger seat before he discovered he didn't have to swap out the entire seat bench and Levi was confused and miffed for a bit; 2./ Andrew made an excuse for not lifting the back of the truck but I think he really didn't do it to be kind to Levi's legs but also Levi's feelings. @Sam Val, good idea that but I guess only useful at home and at the Andrew's Fortress of Solitude, you can't really toss it in the back to carry it around (and using it out in public would probably embarrass Levi - if some lady dog or punk puppy got to see).

Interestingly, South Main Auto posted a similar rear leaf spring repair yesterday, Eric O tackled it with a wealth of previous experience, but Andrew C arrives at the same pinch points and then solves them with intuition and good sense. Great to see Andrew's 'Make Do and Mend' philosophy in action, "...good as new...". Love the channel, best wishes from UK.
I added leaf springs to mine. Similar situation, just left the top leaf alone. Then the rear mounts went and i had to get new brackets and welded up new mounts out of old leaf springs.
Here in Western Australia I drive fertiliser spreading trucks which have a problem with lime, urea and superphosphate causing corrosion. We pull them to bits and liberally coat everything with Lanolin, which is natural sheepwool grease. It is excellent at entirely eliminating rust and is a lubricant as well - and for those that are concerned about the environment - is organic, natural and the sheep is not killed to shear the wool!

Andrew, U'bolts are meant to be torqued and will stretch when installed. Once removed, you cannot safely re-torque them to achieve the correct clamping force. Just like those throw away head bolts. Re-use runs the risk of failure. That said, sure I've reused u-bolts.

I watched this to the end. I want to say thank you Andrew, Ive been one of your original 1000 subs. Glad to see the truck get some love, Watching the truck work over time has been one of my favorite parts of the channel. It embodies who you are as a person, hardworking and getting the job done, no glamor. Good for you man keep it up. To the people complaining about rust, I'm pretty sure there's a video with Andrew running a dozer and and excavator at the same time out there somewhere.... lol
I have been in withdrawals for a "it is fixed video" as well. Andrew seems to have an exorbitant amount of common sense, and a can do attitude. Isn't it fun to watch him just go after the end goal? Anyways, God Bless from Phoenix.
Brings back memories. Busted springs on 3/4 Chevy hauling firewood. Took springs out of 1 ton and build our own 9 leaf spring pack. Rode awful unless you had 1000 pounds in the back but she could haul a cord of Green oak firewood.
Hey Andrew, When it's dry, coat the underside of the truck in bar and chain oil (you might need to thin it a drop first) and then go for a drive down a dusty road. It'll make a nice rust preventing coat on your truck and it's loads cheaper. You'll just have to redo it every now and again.
Once again, a rare find. An Andrew video that I had not yet seen. To me, it is just like he put out a new one. Love them. Love Levi. Love scenes of New York that are not all skyscrapers and concrete. Some of these roads he is on remind me of here in Texas. The farm to market roads.
I like the part, " you get on the gas and it goes one way, get on the brakes and it goes the other way, hey we've got 4 wheel steering! " . I laughed so hard on that one! Keep up the good work and positive attitude.
Mr. Camarata, you have superb skills, and a wonderful, relaxed attitude about the miracles you perform. Your work is typically very environmentally friendly as well. We should all aspire to be so capable and accomplished as you.
You should get better mileage after cleaning all that crud off the pick up, it really looks good. That looked like a great job to extend the life of a good work truck. When will we get a new additions video, I look forward to hearing what you got the roller for. I love all your video’s your channel has been number one ever since I found you, stay safe and keep doing what you do ✌️Levi had that look of approval 🐕

Loved your story on steel brake lines...Ex father n law bought a 20' van body up north to use in our insulation business....Yup approaching an intersection to turn right, hit tha brakes...pedal to tha floor.... laid it on its side slid into parking lot of bldg supply in Coal Mountain, Ga....luckily no one was coming either way sure got a lot of strange looks from folks running out to see what happened....When po po showed up with wreckers...I explained situation and sure enough when I got back in and hit brakes fluid poured out of a pin hole from rusted out steel line....replaced line when we got back to shop and drove around with skid marks all down tha side till I sold it years later....Another life lesson.....
You are completely correct on your attitude toward fixing vs. buying New. I'd rather keep a vehicle going, rust and all rather pay for an overpriced vehicle. Your stories are hilarious!! Keep up the awesome videos Andrew
I remember when these trucks came out. I wasnt a big fan of the body style but they grew on me. Now i'd like to go back in time and get one. Before the time when guys started lifting them, folding out the "tow" aka grocery parking lot mirrors and putting big ass wheels with no sidewall mud tires that stick like 12 inches out past the fenders. They were good trucks and the right setup were real easy to work on. The 5.9 liter diesels were one of the best of the time and would be streetable and reliable with 1200 hp and 2800 ft/lbs of torque.
this reminds me of a buddy of mine where he would fix his truck a lot and the only thing that stayed actually stock is the cab, most of the interior( the seats he replaced scence he had a bench seat but he wanted buckets intead witch are now repared with ducktape and hand stitching), and the main components witch he "Alaskan beefed up" as he called it(chassie, engine, transmition, and axles) but everything else is repaired or swaped out. the additions he has done is offroad tires, a heavy duty winch i think a warn model, a rollbar/headach rack a toolbox in the bed and custom bumpers that are made to hit a moos and not give a fuck and he upgraded the suspension some what to make it easier to use and handle all the rough tarain and weight it has(witch he used aftermarket parts and stock parts like 3500 hd springs(and he used the full set not just the springs he actuialy cut off the old ones and replaced them with the 3500 rear dually springs and it works very well) and off road towing components and the survicabul kind and the truck is from 1995 and its a dodge it is a regular cab 4x4 2500 so as of 2020 it is 25 years old and he got it in the year 2000 and it is in Alaska so it has seen hell and it was originally a all white truck but now it has a paint job of roll on bedliner, and rustolium black but before that the bed was blue, the tailgate was green, the driver door was red the passanger door was maroon(and on both doors he had to replace the sheet metal on the door locks with thicker stuff) the driver fender was dark blue the passinger fender and hood was silver so it was a bitchin rainbow of colors and he repared some holes in it with 16 guage steel (flate plate, trede plate, and more) so if you think andrew camaratras dodge truck is rough try my firends 25 year old truck and he uses it a lot it is his main work truck and more reciantly he told me that the engine+transmition+the transfercace all craped out and are fubared so he is geting a "new" diesel drive train and swaping that in he got a cummins diesel 6 cylinder with a turbo and a automatic transmition with a new transfercace that is gear driven scence the stock transfercace wasnt working for him so he replaced it with a rebuilt np205 for a dodge truck and now he is going to have a brand new one built for him.
... love the story time at the end... I think I can honestly say... 'Andrew Camarata 348K subscribers' ... is my favorite YT channel of all time... don't change a thing
Most people I know who own Dodge trucks always talk about how long they last, even though they break down. What they actually mean is the Cummins won't quit, and it doesn't. Then I see this truck. This truck single handedly shatters my view of Dodge trucks. It won't stop. Plus that tail gate gets me every time I see it...."just like new" he said once
I had a dodge diesel I bought from a friend. It was a northern truck so it was rusty but it was a crazy cheap deal so I bought it. So I'm driving and it was kinda darty where you would hit bumps and it would get unsettled and I'm towing my 36ft enclosed back from an event 3 hours away and going through highway construction and the truck is just driving terrible. and it would make this grinding noise when you would come to a stop. So I was getting ready to head to Texas for an event and I'm checking the truck over doing new tires and such, and both front upper control arms were broken in the middle from rust. They were so much thinner than the lowers from the factory that they just rusted right through. I was so surprised that the truck still drove okay with both front arms broken in half. I replaced them obviously, but after that truck I told myself I'll never own another northern truck so long as I'm living in Florida no matter how good the deal is.
@@AndrewCamarata True dat. I live in the midwest, so I know rust. I would really like to know how many acres your house/houses sit on. Upper New York is beautiful country, and I love it when you have the drone and get a high shot of all trees!
So many things to say from what u shared. I like the way u reason things out and do it quicker and still properly. Amazing what bad seats can do to our backs. I had a desk with a sliding keyboard under it. One day I just didn't want the tray there and removed it. I found I could raise the seat all the way, and being about 6', my back felt so much better. Knowing me I would have wanted to pull the tank and replace everything, so smart of u just replacing the bottom springs as they support the top one. Its a work truck that seems to have performed when needed. I'm also glad u mentioned the copper-nickel brake lines because I want to change mine. I lost my brakes a couple of times and not fun experiencing. Luckily, I wasn't in traffic and just had to replace them. One other thing I'd like to mention is inspecting the struts. I had a front right strut spring cup rust out on me and took out a brand new tire. Luckily, a little garage was just down the road and they fixed it very reasonably. I usually do my own work, but after getting it towed and stuff, they had me going in an hour or so. I say luckily because I was in a very rural area at the time. Well thanks for sharing again.

Russ Se I bet your vehicles are rust free. Send them to upstate NY!!! Lol
Im in Az as well and and rust is just a non issue
I have a 1975 Scottsdale pickup truck 5 million miles 5 million miles 38 years driving it change the Box three times
Brings back memories. Busted springs on 3/4 Chevy hauling firewood. Took springs out of 1 ton and build our own 9 leaf spring pack. Rode awful unless you had 1000 pounds in the back but she could haul a cord of Green oak firewood.
Hey Andrew,
When it's dry, coat the underside of the truck in bar and chain oil (you might need to thin it a drop first) and then go for a drive down a dusty road. It'll make a nice rust preventing coat on your truck and it's loads cheaper. You'll just have to redo it every now and again.
Don't do this hackjob trick from the 60's. He has the fluid film kit and will do it.

I think my favorite part of all his videos is he spray paints everything when he is done......some reason that is cool.
It’s commendable that you maintain all your equipment so well.
Once again, a rare find. An Andrew video that I had not yet seen. To me, it is just like he put out a new one. Love them. Love Levi. Love scenes of New York that are not all skyscrapers and concrete. Some of these roads he is on remind me of here in Texas. The farm to market roads.
you amaze me with your willingness to tackle any job. Good job!!
I like the part, " you get on the gas and it goes one way, get on the brakes and it goes the other way, hey we've got 4 wheel steering! " . I laughed so hard on that one! Keep up the good work and positive attitude.
Andrew you've done it again, yet another great video. You have a very, very loyal fan base. Please never stop making videos.
Andrew, it was really great to learn that you went on vacation. I hope you enjoyed it and got some rest and relaxation.
And he should be able to charge more for his jobs. :-)
Watching you put that leaf spring in by yourself made me want to come and help you. 😀
The Camarata 'Beater'. It's like the Millenium Falcon, it ain't pretty, but she gets the job done! LOL I so enjoy your videos! Thanks so much.

Andrew, I like your Yankee ingenuity. Your approach to fixing problems is just so very practical.
Beautiful comment Sir. It was such a nice read. Thank you. 🤝🏿

After viewing about 80 video's, Andrew you still are entertaining and the knowledge you share is useful. Ignore the haters. Haters gonna hate, huggers gonna hug. Keep it up.
21:13 on - "Let me try something."
Brilliant!
You are completely correct on your attitude toward fixing vs. buying New. I'd rather keep a vehicle going, rust and all rather pay for an overpriced vehicle. Your stories are hilarious!! Keep up the awesome videos Andrew
Man, waiting for your videos more than anything else. Can't explain it :)

Love watching this guy work dnt know why just do
Most people I know who own Dodge trucks always talk about how long they last, even though they break down.
Yeah, they can rust out bad sometimes.
@@AndrewCamarata True dat. I live in the midwest, so I know rust. I would really like to know how many acres your house/houses sit on. Upper New York is beautiful country, and I love it when you have the drone and get a high shot of all trees!

I think he does have a somewhat of a tour of the container house.
yeah and I want him to include the location of his safe, the code to his safe, and the location of any security cameras.
Well it's a castle, so....

Levi hesitated when he saw that new seat, "like whoa that's too nice to jump on"
LOL, or like, where did this come from? Woof!
Not many people have the ability to do simple repairs and make it entertaining
Back in the 70s vehicles had copper lines and later changed to steel I agree stupid. Great videos Andrew. Steve in Thailand.
It's all about prices of raw materials. Copper is way more expensive then steel.
It's nice to see the American dream is still alive.
I just hope that my grandchildren live to see it.
Love the channel, thanks.
i just bought a 1999 Ford F150 - with 269k miles. It runs pretty good needs some work but good for a 20 year old truck. Hope to do all my repairs just like Andrew. He is my hero.
