  • Behold, the scribble-blob technique! This is a simple Art Meditation technique that is quick, newbie-friendly, and satisfying. It's a great practice for clearing out overthinking, worry, and general brain fog (I like to think of it as taking the "blah" out of my mind and putting it onto paper). No experience, skill, or color theory knowledge needed to engage in this practice!
Fun fact: the longer you do this practice, the more natural it is to let go of self-judgment (aka the thoughts that sound like, "ugh this is terrible!") - yes, those thoughts might still come up, but it gets easier to detach from those thoughts and drop into the present moment.
Art supplies used in this video:
    - watercolor sketchbook
    - watercolor brush pens
    - water brush pen (filled with water)
    - Sharpie marker
    - paint markers
Tip 1: you can complete each phase of the process (the watercolor brush phase and the paint marker phase) as a standalone meditation, or you can extend your session by including a mindfulness practice in between, while the watercolor dries. Sometimes, I'll create a few watercolor blobs for myself to come back to another day when I really need the benefits of mindful scribbling.
Tip 2: do this practice directly in a sketchbook to prevent yourself from getting too attached to the outcome. Let it look terrible, if that's what it wants...it's about the process and how you feel, not the end result. Done as a regular practice, this exercise will help you let go of self-judgment.

New sub here. I've been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and I have slight nerve damage in my dominant hand now that is not going away. I am having to figure out how to be creative all over again. I enjoy neurographic art, amongst lots of other art, but a lot of what I used to do I am no longer capable. Or not in any kind of precise way. I have limited grip strength and dexterity. So I have been focusing on abstract and just creating something. This is similar and yet different to what I have been experimenting with. Thank you for sharing your experience with this process!! I am definitely going to start doing this.
