      Thanks Sr.! Yes this is probably the only 8-string I'll keep, it plays great!

    Yes Dude!. Another great video. I was super excited to see this one come out so quick.
    Really appreciate you throwing in a good helping of 6 and 7 string riffs on this beastly 8 string so a good back and forth comparison with your Adler demon on the 6'er. This is helping me see that I will not be missing out enough on the high gain tones with the Merrows that I have compared to the Adlers to feel an uncontrollable urge to swap them out, at least for the time being. Time will tell once I get my bridge pickup back from getting fixed and can get things fine tuned with pickup heights and amp settings. Looking forward to your Abasi video.
    Saw your other comment about hitting you up on Facebook/Instagram, but what is your screen name on any of the forums (7 string, fractal, gear page, grailtone)? I have to work hard to keep my metal music obsession hidden from the real world as it is not socially acceptable in my profession. So sad, but so true.

      Naaah, thank YOU for all the feedback and support, I appreciate it. FWIW, while the Merrows do rock, the Adlers on voice 1 just have that little extra kick the Merrows don't; it's probably more of a feel but definitely worth a try.
      My screen name in forums used to be "kengtin" but I no longer frequent them. The only one I check every now and then is the Fractal Audio user forum.

    I bought a km7 with the merrow bridge and i was pretty shocked at how low gain the pickup was - took awhile to get used to but now i love it. I think voice 2 on the bridge is technically higher gain that voice 1. Voice one has a lot more pick attack, almost to an insane amount. Voice 1 split coil is better than voice 2 split imo, cleaner lower output more spank. But voice 3 split is where its at. Im totally jealous of the 5 way switch. The km7 just has a 3 way and a voice mini toggle. Also jealous of that beautiful guitar.

      Yes I totally agree, while other sources claim voice 2 is the "lower output" one, to me it feels it has more. I prefer voice 1 a bit since it feels a bit more articulated. For some reason I was not too impressed with the cleans overall, might need to try different settings.

      Interesting. I also feel the same, with voice 2 has more output than voice 1. Does they mistake the marketing or they have made a mistake in wiring diagram? I have KM8 set in my custom guitar

    Congrats on such awesome axe. QQ here, for positions 2, 4, I see that you did a split-coil, which gives you a plit-coil tone for voices 1, 2, so versatile, but why not include the single tone voice (voice 3) which is available for both pickups?
    Also, a quick note, Merrow only customized a bridge pickup, so the neck pickup of his set is just a Fluence Classic Open Core.

      Hey thanks a lot for checking this out and the clarifications. Indeed the "split coil" tone I referred to is actually Voice 3 (I'll clarify that in the description), I just asked the factory to wire it up to the 5-way blade instead of a separate switch.

    Hey, I much apprecated your recent Abasi vs Reyes shoot-out! A question - both the Keith Merrow and Javier Reyes pickups aim for a more passive tone - what do you feel are the differences in tone, dynamics and frequency response between the KMs and JRs? One impression I got is that the KM are a bit brighter, closer to the TA's and also more compressed. Might depend on the guitar and setup though!

    • @SergioChongLoo
      @SergioChongLoo  3 года назад

      No problem, thanks for watching! Yeah both those sets are passive oriented, and yes the Merrows are just a tad brighter, not much. But I liked the Reyes set much more, they're just more versatile and they feel (in the passive voice) less compressed, more dynamic range. If you care about cleans, it's a no brainer the Reyes set just takes it home with the split coil sounds!!

      @@SergioChongLoo Thank you again for sharing your impressions. Yes, the dynamics and versatilty is important so I'll stay with my first impression to go with the Reyes!

      @@hans-olovoman6852 Yes at this point I'd say your safe going with either the Abasi or the Reyes set. I prefer any of those over the Merrows
