    Oh my goodness! I can’t tell you how much I love your patterns! This was the first dress I’ve ever successfully made. It’s so helpful that you provide videos to assist with purchased patterns! I’ve just downloaded two more and can’t wait to get sewing! The dress came so cute! I also made a matching bandana bib. I wish I could post a picture for you to see. You’re awesome, thank you again!

    I made this dress for my baby and it is sooo cute. A bit on the smaller side even though she's 14 months and I chose the 12 to 18, but I used pop clips on an extension piece of fabric at the top so the neckline would be lower. Other than that the instructions were super clear and results are amazing! Thanks!❤

    Hello I have the pattern but cannot find the skirt measurements.
    Do the buttons go on the front bodice and the button holes on the
    back it just says add buttons?
    Also there isn't a link which you point to in the video for edging ideas.
    Looks really pretty

    Would you use a walking foot to attach the gathered skirt to the bodice? Is it more helpful to have the gathers facing up or down when you do that step?

    • @Mellysews

      I personally wouldn't use a walking foot because I rarely find it necessary to use mine for anything.

    Can you explain why the printed pattern says to cut one on the fold when in the video you have it cut into two pieces? Which should I be doing? Will it not be enough fabric if I only do one folded, should I be cutting it in half to get two pieces? Super confused. Love the dress and can't wait to make it. Thanks for your help.

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  6 лет назад

      Because I didn't have enough fabric to cut it in one piece for the video. It doesn't matter whether it's one or two pieces as long as the total circumference is the same.

    Hi Melissa, I enjoyed your video. What size dress is this one in your example and what sizes do you have in the patterns. I have 6 grand children. All under the age of 5. 5 of which are girls. I would love to make this for the little ones which one is 2 months, one is 1 1/2 and 2 are 3 yrs. I have a baby boy that is 3 months and the oldest is almost 6 yrs old. I can't wait to try this one. This is a great tutorial and I’ve made this dress and it turned out great! Thank you so much. At last I have found a tutorial that I can follow from start to finish! I want to make another dress but really want to add a sash on the seam that joins the bodice/skirt. I really don’t want to muck it up, so at what stage would you put a sash in? Also did you hem by hand or blind hem with machine. Many thanks xx

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  6 лет назад

      I just did a straight stitch hem with a machine. And I usually make my sashes separately, so I don't have a tutorial for what you're wanting to do.

    Your tutorials are great and so are your patterns I signed up and used the assess code for the dress but only the bodice pieces are there. I’m super disappointed because I’ve watched this video a million times also I need it sized larger . How would I do that ? I love love love your channel your vids are great would love to see your site match your presence on RUclips . Have you ever considered a move to WordPress self hosted ? 316 restored has amazing themes that rest on what is called genesis framework it makes your site mobile responsive . I’m not a sakes person I’m a blogger myself and know how difficult it all can be would love to see your site done in excellence like your videos they’re so helpful I have learned so much .

    Hi... thank you so much for the free pattern and the video. My question is, when I cut out the pattern pieces and I go to sew the bodice front and back together the front is smaller then the back is that correct? because even when you put the paper pattern pieces together they are not the same size.

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  5 лет назад

      The front and back should match in side seam length and shoulder width. But they are not exactly the same as we are not shaped exactly the same in back as we are in front.

    I was really excited to try this pattern out today but when I download the pattern at the shop it only provides the front and back bodice pieces and not the skirt portion. Can you help? Thanks!

      +Bonnie O. Please read the linked post and the first page of the download, which tells you about the skirt.

    I will have a winter baby. Will thicker material such as velvet work as well for this pattern? What should I watch out for? Thanks!

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  9 лет назад

      Dee Feng velvet may be harder to gather. Definitely use a thin lining fabric if you choose a thicker outer fabric.

    Hi! I'm new to sewing and don't understand very well the crease on the bodice.. (minute 3.30).. Would you be able to explain, please?

    I am trying to make that dress. I purchased the full pattern from your website. I am making the 2t. The skirt measurements seems so huge to me. I cut 2 pieces of the mentioned measurements. Are they accurate?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  8 лет назад

      +Lapilo 84 The cutting directions for the full pattern are slightly different than this video. Please refer to the instructions on the pattern pieces; you only need 1 skirt cut on the fold with those measurements.

    thank you for the free pattern, what size rectangle do I need to cut x

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  4 года назад +1

      The measurements are on the first page. Note that you only need to cut 1 rectangle; in the video I didn't have enough fabric to cut it in one piece so I had to cut 2.

    Hi thank you so much for the tutorial- really good so far. I have just got to the skirt bit, i am a bit confused. I've followed the link for measurements which says 18cm by 84cm. But based on your video and just looking generally this looks like the material will be way too thin? or too small? I couldn't make out on the video whether it was the right size or not. Thank you :) Hannah x

      Robert Lawrence Those are the correct measurements. The dress I'm making in the video is a 9m size; the free pattern is in a 0-3m size.

      ***** Ah okay that makes sense! I wasnt sure if youre rectangles were the same as the ones in the demo :P! Trying to do one for 2-3 year old so hopefully it goes well :D!

    Thank you for pattern. I am using 0-3 month pattern it says 1/2” seam allowance but the bodice is small and the shoulder straps are not as wide as yours what have I done wrong?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  4 года назад

      The one I'm sewing in the video is not a 0-3m size, so yours won't look exactly the same.

    Are the buttons there for aesthetic reasons or do they actually function? Just wondering because nothing was said about making the holes. Maybe that machine of yours is very fancy and does that whole thing for you. :D Am going to start sewing with this pattern but I guess I can just sew the shoulder seams together.

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  9 лет назад

      +Marie B No, they actually open. Skip ahead to 13:20 and I show making the button holes.
