Today we look at UFL, the free to play game that's been taking the FIFA community by storm. Is it worth playing and eventually getting, or is it another disappointment that will leave us crawling back to EA?

i ve played ufl in closed alpha testing for the past 3/4 months and the game came a long way , but there are still issues that have been in the game since i started testing (ex . sprinting , first touches being heavy etc) this game needs at least 1 more year in development and imo it shouldnt ve been shown to the public now . i have high hopes for the game because it has potential but right now.... is not looking good brev

The development is open. That's how they want it. And the game needs 3 more years. Anything other than that is a recipe for disaster.
You mention having more animations is a bad thing, I don't think it is, it's actually EA not using them properly or not coding them to be responsive

That could be the problem then. If they cannot code/use that many animations properly, then they probably just shouldn't have that many animations to begin with. That, and also he says it makes the game slower. Probably because the game just goes through all of the animations trying to find the right one, which takes too much time.
@@yearsoftearsBro what at you guys on about, fifa 13 all the way up to 17 literally had little to no animations back then compared to now, but still the touches, movement and everything else destroys all the fifa games with many animations. EA started slowly implementing many animations since fifa 20 and its completely ruined the game. The lesser animations, the better, it might not look as clean or crisp but it improves gameplay by a huge margin

The only thing I really do on EAFC 24 is play career mode so unless they add that which I doubt I probably wont be playing UFL

However I know that is not an option for everyone.
FM is WAY more detailed. It also does not have that arcade gameplay.
While one can notice in FM forums immigration from the FIFA community that step does not fit everyone.
The change to Unity might bring more players with improved graphics, new animations, revamped UI, introduction of full women's game + Premier League Licensing deal, all very exciting news+ features that are yet to be announced.
But at the end of the day they are in different sub genres of the Football Games Medium.

It doesn't even cost a dime 😂😂 people should have been critical to EA years ago , EA knows their playerbase is decreasing so they are just trying to extract as much money as possible from pack addicted kids. UFL shows a good sign in the matter that it just isn't about packs or cards , jts about having fun , scoring goals , having space in the middle to create opportunities , attacking ai exists in this game , you don't have to playerlock , spam skills unnecessarily. Although the Efootball gameplay is miles ahead of what EA has been giving for free shows EA has been wasting everyone's hard earned money . UFL atleast cares to listen the fans . I won't mind a fifa 17 gameplay in 2024 , better than 5 at the back , constant lane switch bs

People literally ignoring the first point that he made, we’ve been criticising FIFA for years, but the footballing video game market is a monopoly and so they dominate it and don’t care what the fans think, but because the makers of UFL aren’t EA, maybe the criticism will actually be listened to and used to improve the game, if we just stay silent then we might end with another game that doesn’t have a chance of knocking FIFA of their perch
It absolutely 100% has the potential to be the FIFA killer. It just needs our support. EA has turned this shi into a freaking monopoly, they see no freaking reason to improve…

bro, as its a Beta, made by a small company who has made their FIRST EVER football game, UFC has a chance for fifa killing. Because fifa has been on for 3 DECADES from 1993-2024... for a beta of a companies first game ever, if theyre even on the list for competing with fifa than they are doing really well. and im sure atleast SOME of the problems you've listed will be fixed soon.

Glad you played it. IMO the AI is the biggest improvement from FC but yea a lot of other issues to be worked on. Passing needs work but at least the players move so I have someone to pass to. AND the right stick switching is better.

Even if it is bad now, fifa is bad too and only going to get worse. If they drop update after update when the game is finished to fix stuff, they could be a viable alternative. So yeah "not now" I agree.

Funny thing is that EAFC has these same exact problems and only "works" if the players have the appropriate Playstyle Plus. I get that it makes sense somtimes, but why do I need Tiki Taka to be able to pass the pall and then even the 99 Pace players with Rapid or Quick Step still can't outrun anyone.
The game still needs lots of improvement, it will take the developers time to work on it but from my perspective it feels better than FC 24, but I don't like complaining, I enjoy playing FC 24 as long as I play within moderation and not over play.
Game is slow clunky and after 10-15 wins your team gets throttled. Your 90 pace wingers will get smothered by 65 rated noobs. Lots of errant passes and super slow first touches that allow defenders to get right on top of you. Meanwhile your defenders can't stop straight runs right up the middle of the field
EA FC is 💩 too. He lost me when he said he wanted fewer animations with more speed. Why do Americans think that EA FC is simulation? Real football isn't played like floating ping-pong at 100mph.

I think with slow you meant responsiveness right? The game speed is way to fast. You dont need to pass to the midfield at all in UFL atleast not in the beta... I wish they fixed input lag.. its terrible atm

When DDA start to kick in your player became slow, in a good match players are not slow at all.

So we diss a free game but think Ea charging $70 is great. My last fifa game was 2020 for that reason. I don't miss it 😂. I'm pumped about Ufl and fifa 2k.
You can also talk about the outside of the box finess shot easy goals, the corner kicks were you can 98% of the times control the ball in the area in the middle of 3 guy and shot it for another easy goal and also the ease in scoring freekick from all angles

I think with regular updates this game will become great, I’m tired of buying a new fifa every year. It’s just a money grab for EA. They could literally release updates and it would be fine instead it’s a 100$ per year. I’m still going to buy this game and support it. Plus fifa has become to convoluted with 100,000 + things you could do.. evolutions, etc.

The delay in the passing is throttling as that and my players' speed and defensive reactions got worse the more games I won.

I think many in the comments so far is missing the point here. Just because because it's a free game by a small studio that's in beta doesn't mean it should escape the critical lense, just because it's not fifa and EA doesn't mean we all should automatically sing it's praises. No, the developers said it themselves they want us to help make the game better, being critical of issues is the way to do it. If we just let everything slide just because it's not made by EA then this game will never improve and become a serious challenge to EA's monopoly.

i played fifa UT 2013 and then 2024. ill never get over the fact that the economy is based on the weekend tourney and the weekened tourney plays like shit due to delay and people accept it. if this game is free, doesnt try to fleece you and plays half as well as fc24 its still a winner.

This gameplay isn't slow mate it is just your taste, but one thing it is good about UFL is the animation speed of players which is similar to FIFA 17.

5:31 I liked your observations about the quickness and responsiveness because it really defines how much fun the game could provide, and it's often what I analyze the most about fifa.
I think they have to adapt a way in the settings to adjust that like fifa but better. It's a bad idea to lock or fix the responsiveness to a certain degree because every gamer has his own playing style in creating the build-up. Some, like me, like the speed of making the passes more than anything else, others have the patience to build up slowly. There has to be a very defined tuner called "responsiveness of a pass command" and another one for "first touch" and these must not be overlooked or mixed up with the object's internal stats.
Making a program that simulates a real sporting game is so hard and it needs so much patience from gamers. I remember FIFA 15, it was so clunky and limited and these current releases are so engaging and much more developed than 10 years ago. There are a lot of other details that even you, me, and most gamers do not notice because we are not skillful enough. If you want to enjoy FIFA more, you have to be a veteran player and stop being a casual. I have developed certain moves and mind games in the gameplay merely by studying how to play and learn more about the game and its capabilities, there is a huge room of what you can do in game if learn more about the mechanics.

There are no Stockport County. I choose FC24 more than UFL because of that.
