Caro Feely's life in establishing her vineyards is an eye-opener on how complex wine growing is. Her experiences in setting up the business with her husband are harrowing. With stories of lost limbs, frequent and bloody accidents, sub-standard machinery breaking down, impossible deadlines, a virtually unlivable house and her close to tears much of the time. She was miserable and alone and her husband Sean pushing them both beyond their limits. It was so bad she came close to leaving him. It is good to see they have made a success in Saussignac. Their organic wines are superb.
This was very educational and informative. Your expert was so down to earth and personable but really knew her stuff. Looked like a fun few days out and about.
That must have been absolutely fascinating to go on a winery tour with an expert! I expect her interactions with the vintners was very interesting! Thanks for taking us along!!
A superb video set in beautiful countryside. I would love to have learned more of the Feely estate. Rudolph Steiner encouraged biodynamic farming which France has embraced albeit in a small way. Fascinating. Thank you for including us. I know the area you visited as we lived in France for a long time but sadly had to return to Australia. The content of your videos are great.
Great video! It is nice that you enlisted an expert to help you navigate your selections. Get some information about shelf life and how to organize your stock, unless you are just buying enough to get by. Cheers!
Hi Sara and Steve, The tour of the wineries was not enough for a novice like me to really gain much knowledge, but I certainly did appreciate the tour. Keep bringing us interesting vlogs, yours have such different stuff going on in a pretty laid-back manner and are always interesting. Mark & Scott
Thank you for your sharing all the encouragement Our Lord has shown you! I needed this this week as I have been feeling Weakened and needed to fight back and stand my ground!!
Bonjour Sara and Steve, how fun was your wine tasting weekend, Stephanie was a delight, and a terrific guide, I love wine tasting (and wine) my sisters and I travel around NY, to the winery's. Thanks for taking us along. Love from N.Y.
Learned a lot about wine, very informative… some things I didn’t know. Nice of her to share info, she’s very down to earth. My favourite is ‘Ice Wine’ from the Niagara Region…. I’m from Toronto and have visited quite a few of wineries there…
Love this episode, thnx! Would love to see you visit Chateau Margeux..(sp). Had quite an adventure tasting of 10 vintages of this, all gran cru! Still makes my mouth water
Enchante Stephen and Sarah I learnt so much about wine cool and warm I just gulped it down ooh that tastes divine another glass please😀👌Stephanie well informed very articulate and gracious your mother is a darling you’re very much like her Sarah🥰Thankyou for the winery tours and meeting the owners a fabulous visit and the wine cellar is ready for guests enchante💖💖😘😘👌🌟🌟🍸🍸
Really enjoyed Stephanie and her knowledge of wine. Breaking it down into Cool and Warm made so much sense to me. So enjoyed hearing each vintner and their story, thank you. Watching from Vancouver Island 🌸🇨🇦
I realized I put this comment in a community post by mistake. The mention of Montbazillacwine here reminded me to mention: Hi Sara & Steve, I am really enjoying your channel! I wondered if you’d heard of the Chief Bruno book series set in the Bergerac region? The author is American but lives in the region also. They are great, fun reads, full of details about the region, food and wine. Thought I would recommend! The author is Martin Walker.
Steve Edd and Anna said that area was the most expensive place to buy wine in that area. They said it is cheaper to buy from a Cheatue instead. Edd is a wine expert too.
Very interesting having visited this area myself several times. You should have called in at Anna & Edd who would have shown you around and tastings at their Chateau.
Very interesting video even though i am not a drinker but i do have a drink on special occasion's i.e. Wedding's , birthday, Christmas and so on 😊, lovely place you all went to visit take care and see you soon 💕🌼🤗
Oh! That was never drinking her supper red wine with dessert. The sweetness of desserts effects the tastebuds in a way that you only taste the tannins in the red, if you have both at the same time. So she prefers to set the red aside until about 30min after dessert, when the tastebuds have adjusted back.
Yes, presumably from our accent, and my favourite phrase, "Je suis en train d'ameliorer mon francais". However, even though we are not fluent, we are at a level to understand what's he's saying, and have a conversation.

“It doesn’t smell like grape” Your mom is so precious! Very nice video and learned a lot about wine. Thanks!
Isn't she just? Many giggles that day...
This was very educational and informative. Your expert was so down to earth and personable but really knew her stuff. Looked like a fun few days out and about.
Absolutely, on all counts. Stephanie is great at sharing information without being condescending or pedantic.
In love with Chateau Feely! Deeply appreciate visiting all of the vineyards and Stephanie's expertise. Thank you so much!
That must have been absolutely fascinating to go on a winery tour with an expert! I expect her interactions with the vintners was very interesting! Thanks for taking us along!!
I am not a wine buff at all but I found this video so informative and interesting thankyou
Thanks for the wine tour!
I recently read the book “Cork Dork” and learned a lot about wine, and how to improve one’s ability to recognize flavors. 🙂
Lol. Great name...
Thanks for taking us along ! It was great to see where the wines we enjoyed at your Chateau were produced. A wonderful time.
What a fun vlog. Very informative and interesting. Learned a lot. What a tough job trying to decide what wines to stock your cave 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love it 😍 😘
What a fun video!! The more you know, the more you love wine…it’s a win win ❤🍷
100%!!
Fascinating! Thank you for the tour!🇨🇦
Excellent. Loved every minute of this!

Wonderful! I learned a lot as well from this lovely video, what a nice tour. Ah, all for the love of corks! Okay, and guests. Cheers! 💕 🍾 🍷 🍇

An amazing video Steve and Sarah totally enjoyed it 😊❤
Glad you all had a wonderful time 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Loved this episode, thank you!
Interesting how the warm or cool climate determines the wine by geolocation of north or south.
Wow loved it..very nice young lady ..lots of knowledge...😊👍👌🍾🥂🌹💯🇨🇦
Lovely vlog interesting and very Informative enjoyed well done 🥰💁♀️👏🖖
Thanks Angela!
Great video! It is nice that you enlisted an expert to help you navigate your selections. Get some information about shelf life and how to organize your stock, unless you are just buying enough to get by. Cheers!

Great video! Have read all Caro Feely's books. Fantastic to hear her stories and to learn more about her vineyard.

You're welcome!
A lovely learning experience. Thank you! If only we could taste the wines along with you... 🍷
Maybe one day!
Terrific tidbits about wine regions!! TY😊
Very educational, thank you 💞🇬🇧💞
My some of the landscape looks like vineyards here in the Niagara Region where I live.
Love this episode, thnx! Would love to see you visit Chateau Margeux..(sp). Had quite an adventure tasting of 10 vintages of this, all gran cru! Still makes my mouth water

So enjoyed hearing each vintner and their story, thank you.
Watching from Vancouver Island 🌸🇨🇦
It is interesting. Now I have to retry wines from here in Ontario and wines from B.C. I loved the Mission Hill wines that I tried when I was in B.C.🇨🇦
Sarah, we needed you and your mother stomping grapes like Lucy!!!
Yes !!
A fun and interesting vlog.
Such an interesting trip (or multiple trips?). Thanks for showing us
Fabulous explanation!!! Now I have a basic understanding other than what I like. Just makes you want to take a course in wine tasting.
Fascinating education on grape growing organically and sustainably.
Loved this! Stephanie has a dream job....especially in France!
Excellent vlog traveling to various French wineries!!🍇 I bet it was not only educational but a lot of fun!😁🥂🍾
❤ from 🇨🇦
Such a fantastic Vlog.....learned many things. Thank you so much for taking us along.🍷🍷🍷
Sarah the top you are wearing in the opening shot is beautiful
I so enjoyed this video and learned so much about wine! Thank you! xx
I love your vlogs. I learn a lot from you. I live vicariously through all of you Chateau owners. Keep up the interesting and informative vlogs.
That was so interesting!!

Thank you for the recommendation we will check them out.

Great video!!❤

Thanks Carole!
You have the life
And hopefully the business too!
Thank you for such an interesting video. Thoroughly enjoyed it as usual!!!
Very interesting. Thank you!
💕An interesting wine guide💕
So interesting. Shana Africa
Did you drive back to your chateau each day? How far away were these wine makers? i'm not good at geography -- I wish I had a map in my mind ...
Yes. These properties were 1.5-2 hrs west-ish of our chateau.
Sarah, you look so pretty! I love your blouse!! Your Mother is so sweet!!
Such a wonderful vlog. Thank you!
Hugs from NY
Maybe you should arrange wine tasting tours with Stephanie's help. 😊
What a fantastic lesson. ❤
I guess confused with the changes if background music. French easy going to what was the other? American 60's rock twist?
Interesting. I do wish more was said about 'cellaring' ; buying wines that will come into their own several years down the line.
Thank you for the lesson. I do want to know what Stephanie’s number one role is that she will not break. 😂😂
Oh! That was never drinking her supper red wine with dessert. The sweetness of desserts effects the tastebuds in a way that you only taste the tannins in the red, if you have both at the same time. So she prefers to set the red aside until about 30min after dessert, when the tastebuds have adjusted back.
Very interesting? I would love to know the wines you chooses.
Meant to add what a fun time you are going to have drinking what you chose trying to establish which you like best. Lol ❤
I’m not a wine drinker but I learned something.
Stephanie IS your daughter! 😂
I said to myself, "Sarah and Stephanie look alike". I thought she was a family member at first!
❤🍷
😊😊🍷🍷😊😊
This was really enjoyable and educational. Found your choice of music ending each visit very annoying and so un-French!
Lose that loud music😂
Does that guy know you guys are not fluent in French?
Yes, presumably from our accent, and my favourite phrase, "Je suis en train d'ameliorer mon francais". However, even though we are not fluent, we are at a level to understand what's he's saying, and have a conversation.
@@ManorandMaker that's pretty fluent!!!
