Saw them last night. In addition to Scott and Mitch singing at the end, Kirsten chimed in with Little Toy Trains. It was a beautiful three way mashup. Who else could successfully do that?
Beautiful mash-up! I never considered "Pure Imagination" as a Christmas song, though. But it sure mixes well with this one! Charlie Brown and Willy Wonka! What a combination!
Not sure when it started, but even though I'm not a practicing Christian, I got fascinated with Christmas music. Starting in the 70's I bought a lot of different types of music -- classical, Renaissance, folk, rock, pop, New Age, Celtic, Scandinavian, etc. and wound up with over 1,000 CDs, and about 300 Christmas CDs. So of course when Pentatonix started doing Christmas albums I loved it.
Tbis is a bittersweet song of GenX... a nostalgic return to a time when Willy Wonka taught us about the "mindset" of selfishness and entitlement, and the kindness that can overcome the aforementioned ills of self centered Entitlement. As well as Charles Schultz "Charlie Brown Christmas" when Charlie/Linus reminds us of the TRUE meaning of Christmas. Kinsa brings a tear to my eye...
Also have to give Vince Guaraldi and Lee Mendelson credit for ‘Christmas Time is Here’. They wrote most, if not all of the original music in the Charlie Brown specials. Guaraldi has a fantastic jazz album titled ‘The Music of Linus and Lucy’. And I think these songs evoke the same nostalgia for us old Boomers as well 😉 As usual, I don’t want to hear the songs any other way after a Pentatonix magic mashup!
Christmas isn't a good time for me and lot's of other people. But PTX are too beautiful to miss out of listening to their music 😌. Like you also! You have smiley eyes!👍🏻😊
I don't hate Christmas songs, more or less just bored with them. No matter who sang them they sounded the same. PTX has a way of refreshing and turning something old into new. I'm 74 and fell in love with Christmas songs again because of PTX.
I agree-I’m always somehow surprised at how perfect the mashups work, but like you said, of course they are going to be perfect otherwise PTX wouldn’t have created the arrangement. I guess what amazes me is not necessarily the actual mashup (which is always brilliant), but the original creativity to put two particular songs together. Loved it! Ethereal, beautiful, and even sexy. ❤💚

The transitions between these two songs is just impeccable! It really sounds like they were made to be sung together.
