Hi guys!! Yes, this is an a capella group.
You wanted to know who the members are:
~~1st singer: Male with the high vocals...Mitch Grassi, countertenor. Mitch is a natural countertenor and has a massive vocal range from baritone to high soprano and whistle notes. His voice is angelic and there's only a few males in the world that can sing that high without using their falsetto.
~~ 2nd singer: Kirstie Maldonado, mezzo soprano. Kirstie has a vocal range that almost matches Mitch's...she cannot quite go as low as him. her range is alto to high soprano and she has impressive belting abilities. It's often hard to tell them apart when they sing.
~~ 3rd singer: Scott Hoying, baritone. Scott's another one with a massive vocal range. He can take over the bassline while the bass sings a verse or has lead. His voice is warn and slightly gritty which makes his an excellent lead for many of the songs the group does He can also use his falsetto very well and go up into soprano range.
~~ Matt Sallee is the bass, you see both him and Kevin, the beatboxer a few times during the video. Matt is a Lyric baritone ( lyric means his vocal range is larger than most and deeper as well) Matt's voice is smooth and warm and lovely to listen to.
~~ Kevin Olusola is the beatboxer and a very multi-talented man!! Kevin is a world class...everything! His beatboxing is some of the best in the world, he plays cello...and beatboxes at the same time ( he's dubbed it cello boxing), he also plays the sax...and has done so at Carnegie Hall. plus he sings! his voice is tenor, but he has a really impressive falsetto!
They just dropped their video of O Holy Night yesterday. It's a re-make/upgrade of their version that did years ago...and it's absolutely wonderful! You have to see it!!

This was what's called a "mashup" where Pentatonix combined two different songs - Pure Imagination from the movie Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Christmas Time Is Here from the Charlie Brown Christmas cartoon. It's not as simple as just singing two songs, they combine them... like in this one, when Mitch and Kirstie were singing lyrics from Christmas Time Is Here, the background melody was from Pure Imagination and at the end, Scott was singing the latter while Mitch was singing the former.
PTX does a lot of mashups and they usually have "/" or "x" between the names of the two songs in the title.
I agree with the others who have said you've got to do O Holy Night. PTX's entire catalogue is great and there are a ton to listen to, but when a new one drops - and this one did just days ago - you have to jump on that! Just keep in mind that so far you've just done ballad-y Christmas music and PTX does so much more than just that. They do everything from pop to EDM (done vocally) to rap, as well!

By all means, as many have recommended, react to "O Holy Night." And for a complete change of pace, check out "O Come all Ye Faithful" which was performed with the group's original bass singer, Avi Kaplan. This is another Christmas classic, usually sung in a very "high church" way, but PTX does such a joyful rendition, you'll never want to hear it sung any other way.

I went to their concert in Orlando last Wednesday night and they performed this song. It is just as stunning live as in a studio recording. They also did Mary did you know, the song that you reacted to before this one. they have changed bass singers since that music video was filmed.

I will give you a quick Bio of Pentatonix. In 2011 they won the American show the Sing Off. They have been together for 12 years. Mitch Grassi the first singer Counter Tenor, Scott Hoying the tall Blonde Bariitone, and Kirsten Maldonado the Messo Soprano. Those 3 grew up together in Arlington Texas, the have known each other since they were kids. Kevin Olusola Beat Boxer extraordinaire coined the phrase Cello Boxing that is how Pentatonix found him was from a You Tube video where he was playing Cello and beat boxing at the same time. He is a classically trained Cellist, he has a Pre-Med degree from Yale and he speaks fluent Mandarin. If you saw Mary did you Know, you saw a different Bass singer in that one his name is Avi Kaplin, he left the group in 2017 on good terms. That same year Matt Sallee joined the group as their Bass singer and he has been incredible. I could say listen to this or that but it doesn't matter what you listen to you can't go wrong with any song they have done. If you really want to see how high Mitch can go singing, I would suggest the video AHA the Star Vista. I have seen them twice live once in 2018 and again this past September. Their shows are so much fun and they sound exactly the same.

As people mention Mitch is a counter tenor. That means he seems even higher than a tenor without going into his fall settle. It is a very rare Music range to have. He does go higher quite Hire.. There has only been 1 change in the line up. In Mary did you know the gentlemen with the beanie Avi, Left in 2017 for personal reasons and on good terms and was replaced by matt who was wearing the solid brown jacket. That's the only change the channel there has been. Mitch and Kirstie, Rhymes with thirsty, Are always changing their looks But it's always with them. If you ever find yourself asking is that much yes it's Mitch. Ones again only 1 change in the lineup Pentatonix owns Christmas and are the masters At doing mashups. They also have their evolution videos What's your mostly from there early years and a couple of medleys. I recommend daft punk which is a melody that they want their 1st Grammy for. I would go with watching hallelujah the official music video next. It has about
7.3M Views right now. That's the video most reactors C. 1st. They usually follow that up with sound of silence bohemian rhapsody And so on. Since it's Christmas I would react to dance of the sugar plum fairy which they won there second Grammy for. They won a Grammy for singing a song that Has no words using no words no words. My All time favorite video is there cover of John Lennon's imagine. The way they have chose to Represent the message of the song is so powerful. You will also be introduced to the Pentatonix wall of sound which you heard a little of in Mary did you know. There are 2 videos that will help to introduce you to Pentatonix. The 1st is called a beginner's guide to Pentatonix and is essentially there resume Talks about how they were formed And what and when albums were released and their Grammys. Back in march they got their star on the the Hollywood walk of the fame. The other video is titled 107 facts about Pentatonix. The more reactions you do to Pentatonix the more the pentaholics, That's what we fans call ourselves, will flock to your channel.
