I’m a Home Free patron and had such a fun time participating in this project. We were encouraged to bring our pets 😊 Peter’s team did an amazing job doing all the work to bring this to life. All of the videos. All of the audio tracks. What a monumental challenge. Incredible.
Really appreciated what you brought to this song. Suggestion for upbeat & fun #homefree to do next: Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks mashup. It's phenomenal. Austin has said it's their most complex arrangement. Perfect example of what a mashup should be. They still lead off their concerts with it.
I always look for your analysis of Home Free because you Sir know what you are talking about. So many people who analyze have very little knowledge, especially when it comes to harmonies, etc. You always do your homework and are so spot on in chord progression and arrangements. Keep em comin!
So pretty. Love their version. Like you said I love Tim starting it and handing his solo over to Austin. Maybe for fun try Brother or Between a Rock and a Heartache. 😍😄
Austin singing this solo on his home channel is how I discovered the HomeFree group of talented singers. I was so impressed by his beautiful tenor voice accompanied by a great friend. You should check out that performance as well. But I do love this version that came along later. Thanks for your love of HomeFree 💙🦋💙
@judydavis7993 completely agree and that was exactly the way and time I found Home Free as well. 🥰 I always loved that song by the Righteous Brothers and when Austins version popped up I of course had to listen to it..... and the rest is history 😉
@jr8627 I know. I told my older brother, who was a big Righteous Brothers fan, about Austin, and he said that he was very impressed with Austin's version. And believe me, that was a hard sell.😂 I got him to go to his first HomeFree concert as well. Sure gonna miss Austin in that group 🥹
I really liked their choice of using a jail for this as it goes with the theme of missing their love. Home Free has some of the best harmonies I have ever heard, I always learn something from your analysis so thank you Sir Hairless
High note, low note, quick note, held note - vibrato or smooth - the choice doesn't seem to matter. What Home Free shows us is the joy masters of a craft share with us. Thanks for showing us some of the strokes that make their sound so special.
They sounded decent on the Opry broadcast on Saturday night. It was a mixed bill, so they only sang Elvira, Champagne Taste and Delta Dawn. Bastien did a fine job on Delta Dawn. He doesn't have Austin's distinctive and amazing voice. But he's a good singer, has great energy, and is back with his friends from before. I heard there was very positive energy from them coming backstage after.
Fishin' in the Dark/Boondocks is an amazing mashup they did when Chris was still in the band. Really great blending, and powerful. They love to start their concerts with this one.
For me, the gold standard for this song was the live version by Bobby Hatfield on the Andy Williams Show. Three minutes of vocal perfection. I never thought anyone could do better. Honestly, Home Free hasn't, but they have done it just as well in a different way. I honestly love both versions. I have to give the edge to Bobby Hatfield for that daring counter-tenor dramatic high ending! If you haven't seen that one, make sure to watch the full version that includes the pre-song interview. You can see that Bobby was having a bit of stage fright. Then he goes and just nails that song! It's better than the studio release because that version doesn't have the high ending. I was just in awe of his runs. Well done, Home Free! Nice analysis too!
Inspired by the official HomeFree trilogy: "Give Me a Sign" "Stargazer Lillies" and "MR" And the unofficial story arc "Champagne Taste" to "Full of Cheer" I made up my own: "Man of Constant Sorrow", "Folsom Prison Blues" & "Unchained Melody" Also "Some Girls Do" "Cover Me Up"
This brings back so many lovely and cherished memories. My dad gave my mum this song on a 45. By Rightous brothers .Now I can watch it. So glad you showed the film 1955 Unchained.
Yes. Here is what I found: “Unchained Melody” is a 1955 song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. North wrote the music as a theme for the little-known prison film Unchained (January 1955), hence the song title. Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack.
Thank you for your wonderful analysis of Home Free’s version of this song . Austin has left the group a lot earlier than expected and Adam Bastien Aka Bastien has taken his place. Bastien used to sub for one of the tenors when Home Free first started and also was a member of Chris Rupp's group 7th Ave Bastien did his first concert with Home Free at the Country Rumble Fest in Lima,Ohio June 21 and The Grand Ol Opry June 22 and he did amazing They now have 3 Adam’s in the group so they opted to be called by last names less confusing that way.
Thank you for the really interesting discussion of the time signature, it's one of those things I can hear when people point them out, but don't tend to consciously notice otherwise.
Oooh, when the next one is a fun one you should do Brother. While the lyrics are actually quite deep and meaningful, the song hasn't got that heavy feeling and the video is hilarious (I have yet to find anyone who didn't laugh throughout it (and didn't get distracted by the video itself)). Might As Well Be Me is also hilarious. They actually did a couple of Valentine songs, for example I Swear and Make You Feel My Love. The videos are at least slightly silly. It would also be great for you to put Your Man on the list (they release an official video for it on friday, but there are also life versions out there. Maybe a double feature? I have heard a few versions of Unchained Melody, but I love Home Free's version of it. It was great that they started with Tim and then changed to Austin. Also, that they do it doo-wop-style. I think Tim has arranged this, which would make sense as he loves doo-wop. Otherwise he wouldn't have made a full solo album of it. Also loved your analysis. Thank You!
Well, it’s been awhile since I asked, but now that Austin has officially left the group, I’m going to ask again… PLEASE cover his version of Bring Him Home? I have been told that it’s technically perfect, but I would like your take on it. I was going to give a Super Thanks to see if I could tempt you into it, but I don’t see the option! you should look at tim’s solo doo wop stuff. you can buy the album on his website, but he has some of the songs (almost half by now i think) on his youtube. the first one he posted was “come go with me” which shows off his range and musicianship so well, but all of them are bops!
The dynamism of Austin's voice is just on another level than any singer today (not opera). I don't really care for this version, but wherever Austin sings, he at least makes it interesting.
Thank you for another great reaction and analysis. I love your videos, every time I discover new little great tidbits about songs I've heard hundreds of times. Makes me appreciate them even more. If you want to hear more good filth and lots of tension and resolution I'd like to recommend "How great thou art" from Home Free. It's not just a great and heartwarming rendition, but also chock full of tension and resolution. And as a bonus you get two solo lines of Adam's angelic tenor voice.
I do remember seeing the Righteous Brothers on TV as a kid, but it seems as though this song stood out. I love how Home Free stays true to the song even though their “instrumental” parts are so flexible. And it’s always the dissonance that I listen for. Thanks so much for your analysis. I noticed that in this and one other song, they added a melody line from a totally separate song. The part near the end when Rob sings a different melody, it is part of the melody line near the end of the song "Faithfully" by Journey. No idea if it was intentional or not. They did it again in their version of the song "Amazed". Again near the end, a different melody enters...the ending melody of "Touched By A Rose" by Seal. In that one, they knew it was there because in the behind the scenes video, Rob and Austin make a small comment on it. As I said, no idea if they are intentionally, slightly mashing up songs or what the deal is. But it has made me listen closer to other songs to see if I can hear other instances
Angles we Have Heard and How Great Thou Art also have 'inserts', and I think at least one of the Christmas songs from before the Sing Off does, too, but off the top of my head I don't remember what it is. And Some Girls Do has bits of Cruise as part of the background vocals.
A fun and a fantastic analysis I enjoy your reactions. I would like to see you react to their version of thank God I'm a country boy Austin does some yodeling in that one and is a lot of fun. Please also react to Austin's Bring him Home its amazing. Thank you😊
How great is this again? The whole, just everything together like the lead, the beatboxing, the backgrounds, the harmonies, the picture, the black and white recording, the shadow of Adam on the wall, the story behind the song etcetera makes it perfect for me.

I've always loved the Righteous Brothers rendition of this song and IMHO Home Free does it justice. The doo-wop feeling, manual typewriter & setting recall the original ( which was in the 1950s prison movie "Unchained"). As always their singing, harmonies & beatboxing are terrific. Austin Brown has a terrific rendition on his channel: ruclips.net/video/XRvr7nQE7xM/видео.htmlsi=n7Ys0WW6lhGzkeG1. There's also a live one of Austin singing it as "Tim's 6th Birthday Bash" - jaw-dropping!

Home Free and their harmonies!! Such powerful visuals and a remarkable version of the song ❤️ I know it hearkens back to that mid-century movie and they portray it spectacularly, but I do hate seeing our guys behind bars. 😕 However, they can definitely "emote" through their music/videos better than just about anyone else out there!! ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ #HomeFree

You need to react to Austin's solo version of this. It is him singing with a guitar accompaniment. It has a very different feel from this while staying close to the original and has almost 16 million views.
Yes JHope is mostly a rapper. However, I see him more as a bridge between the rappers and vocalists. He can harmonize with the vocalists and has a more talk.. speak sound. He can sing also. 💜
I enjoyed your analysis and really appreciated that you included clips from other versions, especially the original. IMO, I prefer Austin's solo version better -- his voice is so well-suited for this song. And, yes, I second the motion for you to react to Austin's Bring Him Home. Brother is a good HF video to react to, too. Keep up the good work! 😊
Great reaction and analysis as always. I’m always looking for your next HF reaction. A good and funny one to check out is their Country Fried Pop Medley it’s very good and funny. Austin’s solo version has over 15M views. Please check out Austin “Bring him Home” from Les Miserables & give us an analysis Please 🙏 Now Austin isn’t with HF, I hope you will react to some of his solo stuff ❤
I actually used to hate this song. Being unaware of the context, I found the lyrics rather creepy. It was only when I saw HomeFree's rendition that everything fell into place, and looking up the history of the song, I realised that it had always been supposed to be a prison song. That way, it makes much more sense and by now, I am actually quite fond of it. I think Austin does really, really good in these kinds of songs. I wonder whether this is a natural talent of his or if it is because of his own, apparently very happy relationship. The truth is probably somewhere in between these too... 😅Great reaction.
Sir H, I'm a huge Home Free fan but I think some of the songs are a bit too.. technically processed.. For my taste. It's why I often prefer their live versions ❤
the only problems with their using tech is when they very obviously pitch correct, tone adjust (done a few times in the later albums). That is something they don't need to do and seems a production choice. It takes away the important human-ness of their singing. I don't mind multi-tracking.
Check out my previous HF reaction next! 🤠

I have heard Austin Brown sing this solo, was very good
Home Free and their harmonies!! Such powerful visuals and a remarkable version of the song ❤️
I know it hearkens back to that mid-century movie and they portray it spectacularly, but I do hate seeing our guys behind bars. 😕 However, they can definitely "emote" through their music/videos better than just about anyone else out there!! ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ #HomeFree
#HomeFree ❤❤
Butts Medley or Brother are two fun ones you should react to soon. Love your content!
This is the righteous brothers!!! I think is the best! Since long ago and I'm giving my age up!!!
Great analysis as usual. I always learn so much.
Hopefully you will react to Bring Him Home by Austin.
I have been asking for this one for MONTHS. I keep looking for a Super Thanks option to maybe try bribing him, but he never offers them!
This one is on my list (along with many many other songs), so whilst I don't know when I'll get round to it, hopefully I will at some point in the future
@@CariReneeEdwards I don't choose to offer them or not - they appear underneath non-copyrighted videos (I think) as a "Thanks" button. However, this isn't how I receive 'bribes'
The only way to 'bribe' me / guarantee a reaction video is to join the Egg tier which is one reaction video request a month, but that's currently full
Otherwise, all recommendations go on my list, and the more frequently something is recommended, the more it'll catch my eye
I love your reactions. You should check out Austin Brown's solo version of "Unchained Melody"
First time to your reviewing: very well done. Many thanks
I always learn so much from your analyses. Thank you 😊 If you haven’t already check out Dive Bar Saints. It’s one of my current Home Free favorites. Great harmonies and an original I believe.
Beautiful song one of my favorites. ❤
This is one of favs from the boys
Please listen to Angelina Jordan’s version of Unchained Melody. She is amazing, an old soul indeed. Ty Sir. Good bless! ❤❤
100% The Righteous Brothers version!💜
Great video friend!!
I enjoy your videos! You've taught me more about music theory by watching your videos than I learned in school. You should check out Brandon Lake. Count em, live or music video. Or Gratitude
Simplemente maravilloso! Gracias por otra master class con otra obra maestra. ❤❤
I liked it but I love the Righteous Bros. I favor that more but this is pretty good.
💖R/A🎼🌧️
By the way the movie Unchained is on RUclips. I watched it and it was very good.
I'll need to give it a watch!
You need to react to Austin's solo version of this. It is him singing with a guitar accompaniment. It has a very different feel from this while staying close to the original and has almost 16 million views.
You should do Ain't Goin' Down 'til the Sun Comes Up next! It’s very upbeat and pretty amazing. Garth Brooks song.
Yes JHope is mostly a rapper. However, I see him more as a bridge between the rappers and vocalists. He can harmonize with the vocalists and has a more talk.. speak sound. He can sing also. 💜
Next? Their newly post song "Your Man" featuring Tim and Chance.
I think no cover can compare to the definitive live performance by Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers.
😊
Great reaction and analysis as always. I’m always looking for your next HF reaction. A good and funny one to check out is their Country Fried Pop Medley it’s very good and funny. Someone mentioned this is an earlier comment and they’re right you need to react to Austin’s solo version of Bring Him Home it’s a phenomenal version. There are many more fun o es to do by Home Free. Working for a living, Working 9 to 5 and many more any of them would be great to hear your reaction and analysis.
Thanks for the additional recommendations! Hadn't received them before so I've added them to my list
@@SirHairlessif you do 9 to 5, make sure it's the life version with the beat box breakdown!!! (they all beatbox a bit)
@@SirHairless Austin's solo Bring Him Home is extraordinary. Chills and tears....
I suggest you check out Awake by BTS (it's Jin's solo song)
Austin Brown part I liked!!!
Austin’s solo version has over 15M views.
Please check out Austin “Bring him Home”
from Les Miserables
& give us an analysis
Please 🙏
Now Austin isn’t with HF, I hope you will react to some of his solo stuff ❤
😀👍👍👍👍👍
Please, react to DIANA ANKUTDINOVA - CROW
AUSTIN BROWN UNCHAINED MELODY on his channel. Beautiful no frills version. I do hope you check it out.
Good but not the righteous brother's!!!
I am so not a fan of the auto tune & pitch correction
You need to check out their cover of "Try Everything" from the movie, Zootopia". Adam does an awesome banjo.
