My favorite fun Home Free video is Brother. It makes me laugh, but you can't miss the point of comradery.

Really appreciated what you brought to this song. Suggestion for upbeat & fun #homefree to do next: Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks mashup. It's phenomenal. Austin has said it's their most complex arrangement. Perfect example of what a mashup should be. They still lead off their concerts with it.

I always look for your analysis of Home Free because you Sir know what you are talking about. So many people who analyze have very little knowledge, especially when it comes to harmonies, etc. You always do your homework and are so spot on in chord progression and arrangements. Keep em comin!

Austin singing this solo on his home channel is how I discovered the HomeFree group of talented singers. I was so impressed by his beautiful tenor voice accompanied by a great friend. You should check out that performance as well. But I do love this version that came along later. Thanks for your love of HomeFree 💙🦋💙

@jr8627 I know. I told my older brother, who was a big Righteous Brothers fan, about Austin, and he said that he was very impressed with Austin's version.And believe me, that was a hard sell.😂 I got him to go to his first HomeFree concert as well. Sure gonna miss Austin in that group 🥹

I really liked their choice of using a jail for this as it goes with the theme of missing their love. Home Free has some of the best harmonies I have ever heard, I always learn something from your analysis so thank you Sir Hairless
Thanks for your analysis. The Righteous Brothers had a big hit with "Unchained Melody" in 1965. Home Free did such a beautiful rendition of this classic song. They added an old school doo-wop feel to it. The video in prison is very fitting as this song was originally written for the 1955 prison film "Unchained". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or finishing his sentence and returning to his wife & family.
Inspired by the official HomeFree trilogy:

This brings back so many lovely and cherished memories. My dad gave my mum this song on a 45. By Rightous brothers .Now I can watch it. So glad you showed the film 1955 Unchained.
you should look at tim’s solo doo wop stuff. you can buy the album on his website, but he has some of the songs (almost half by now i think) on his youtube. the first one he posted was “come go with me” which shows off his range and musicianship so well, but all of them are bops!
They are on track with the movie , Lead man in prison !
Thank you for the really interesting discussion of the time signature, it's one of those things I can hear when people point them out, but don't tend to consciously notice otherwise.

Oooh, when the next one is a fun one you should do Brother. While the lyrics are actually quite deep and meaningful, the song hasn't got that heavy feeling and the video is hilarious (I have yet to find anyone who didn't laugh throughout it (and didn't get distracted by the video itself)).
Might As Well Be Me is also hilarious.
They actually did a couple of Valentine songs, for example I Swear and Make You Feel My Love. The videos are at least slightly silly.
It would also be great for you to put Your Man on the list (they release an official video for it on friday, but there are also life versions out there. Maybe a double feature?
I have heard a few versions of Unchained Melody, but I love Home Free's version of it. It was great that they started with Tim and then changed to Austin. Also, that they do it doo-wop-style. I think Tim has arranged this, which would make sense as he loves doo-wop. Otherwise he wouldn't have made a full solo album of it.

Fishin' in the Dark/Boondocks is an amazing mashup they did when Chris was still in the band. Really great blending, and powerful. They love to start their concerts with this one.

For me, the gold standard for this song was the live version by Bobby Hatfield on the Andy Williams Show. Three minutes of vocal perfection. I never thought anyone could do better. Honestly, Home Free hasn't, but they have done it just as well in a different way. I honestly love both versions. I have to give the edge to Bobby Hatfield for that daring counter-tenor dramatic high ending! If you haven't seen that one, make sure to watch the full version that includes the pre-song interview. You can see that Bobby was having a bit of stage fright. Then he goes and just nails that song! It's better than the studio release because that version doesn't have the high ending. I was just in awe of his runs. Well done, Home Free! Nice analysis too!
Well, it’s been awhile since I asked, but now that Austin has officially left the group, I’m going to ask again… PLEASE cover his version of Bring Him Home? I have been told that it’s technically perfect, but I would like your take on it. I was going to give a Super Thanks to see if I could tempt you into it, but I don’t see the option!

This & I Can't Help Falling In Love With You are my all time favorite love songs. Followed by a whole lot of David Gates & Bread songs! You should react to some of Bread's music! Few reactors even know who they are, let alone react to them. 😊

Austin has left the group a lot earlier than expected and Adam Bastien Aka Bastien has taken his place.
Bastien used to sub for one of the tenors when Home Free first started and also was a member of Chris Rupp's group 7th Ave
Bastien did his first concert with Home Free at the Country Rumble Fest in Lima,Ohio June 21 and The Grand Ol Opry June 22 and he did amazing
They now have 3 Adam’s in the group so they opted to be called by last names less confusing that way.

I do remember seeing the Righteous Brothers on TV as a kid, but it seems as though this song stood out. I love how Home Free stays true to the song even though their “instrumental” parts are so flexible. And it’s always the dissonance that I listen for. Thanks so much for your analysis. I like this version. Performed sing nicely and easy to listen to. I wonder what Home Free will sound like now that Austin left the group.
They sounded decent on the Opry broadcast on Saturday night. It was a mixed bill, so they only sang Elvira, Champagne Taste and Delta Dawn. Bastien did a fine job on Delta Dawn. He doesn't have Austin's distinctive and amazing voice. But he's a good singer, has great energy, and is back with his friends from before. I heard there was very positive energy from them coming backstage after.

The dynamism of Austin's voice is just on another level than any singer today (not opera). I don't really care for this version, but wherever Austin sings, he at least makes it interesting.
I've always loved the Righteous Brothers rendition of this song and IMHO Home Free does it justice. The doo-wop feeling, manual typewriter & setting recall the original ( which was in the 1950s prison movie "Unchained"). As always their singing, harmonies & beatboxing are terrific. There's also a live one of Austin singing it as "Tim's 6th Birthday Bash" - jaw-dropping!
How great is this again? The whole, just everything together like the lead, the beatboxing, the backgrounds, the harmonies, the picture, the black and white recording, the shadow of Adam on the wall, the story behind the song etcetera makes it perfect for me.

But, we know what they produce LIVE... on Mic, off Mic, on the spot! We KNOW what they do is not Bull---t!!! Their LIVE dude, it's so damn good -- it's surreal. I noticed that in this and one other song, they added a melody line from a totally separate song. The part near the end when Rob sings a different melody, it is part of the melody line near the end of the song "Faithfully" by Journey. No idea if it was intentional or not. They did it again in their version of the song "Amazed". Again near the end, a different melody enters...the ending melody of "Touched By A Rose" by Seal. In that one, they knew it was there because in the behind the scenes video, Rob and Austin make a small comment on it. As I said, no idea if they are intentionally, slightly mashing up songs or what the deal is. But it has made me listen closer to other songs to see if I can hear other instances
Angles we Have Heard and How Great Thou Art also have 'inserts', and I think at least one of the Christmas songs from before the Sing Off does, too, but off the top of my head I don't remember what it is.
And Some Girls Do has bits of Cruise as part of the background vocals.

You need to react to Austin's solo version of this. It is him singing with a guitar accompaniment. It has a very different feel from this while staying close to the original and has almost 16 million views.

Great reaction and analysis as always. I’m always looking for your next HF reaction. A good and funny one to check out is their Country Fried Pop Medley it’s very good and funny. Someone mentioned this is an earlier comment and they’re right you need to react to Austin’s solo version of Bring Him Home it’s a phenomenal version. There are many more fun o es to do by Home Free. the only problems with their using tech is when they very obviously pitch correct, tone adjust (done a few times in the later albums). That is something they don't need to do and seems a production choice. It takes away the important human-ness of their singing. I don't mind multi-tracking.
