Bravo! Your performances on ophicleide and serpent really challenge the idea that these were harsh sounding instruments that couldn’t be played in tune.
My mouth was agape in awe throughout the entire performance. I marveled at the sensitivity of your musicianship on what today is a very obscure horn. I enjoyed hearing another David piece as the only other one I`ve heard is his trombone concerto. Wow, what a fantastic performance!
I bought your album on Amazon today. Nice selection of music and beautiful playing by all. I'm so happy you took on the challenge of the ophicleide and mastered it. A joy to listen to.
No wonder, that the Ophicleide al long time existed in stead of the 'Damned Bombardone' as Verdi statet..... Familliar to the Trombone's Verdi and Pelitti developed after the 'Corno in Basso' c'mbasso, the Cimbasso. Also was this the case in the British BrassBands before the standardization to 'Contest Bands' Even more beautyful compared with the F-Basstuba and Bb Euphonium..... Bravo!
Beautiful, expressive playing with remarkable technique. Intonation is excellent, which contrasts with the reputation of the ophicleide. Is this an instrument that was actually built in the 1800's, or a modern reproduction (which could be built with more accommodation for pitch)? Who built the horn?
I cannot understand how the ophicleide got almost extinct once... It sounds so beautiful! But course it's also because you're a great musician! Hope to hear that live once...!
the whispers in the mike at 2:50 lol but excellent performance. A beautiful instrument and definitely underrated but perhaps it´s the obscurity of the ophicleide that gives it true value.
IT SOUNDS LIKE A MODERN TENOR HORN, ONLY ROUNDER AND FULLER. LOVE IT.

This is the coolest instrument. It sounds like a bassoon had a baby with a french horn.
And that baby grew up to give birth to the saxophone. (True story!)

I have _never_ before heard an ophicleide played so beautifully! Bravo!
That is good playing! You make the old horn sound like a modern, and you are a fine musician indeed.

Nicely done.
Bravo, this is a very impressive display of ophicleide control! Lovely sound!
Quel musicien ! Merci beaucoup
Fantastic tone and overall execution!
Merveilleux! Absolument à récouvrir. En Italie, presque enconnu.
Très grande virtuosité ! Bravissimo !...
A SENSATIVE AND BEAUTIFULLY PLAYED INSTRUMENT.
I bought a C ophicleide from Wessex about 2 months ago and I can't keep my hands off of it. I want to play this piece next!
I got a C ophicleide form Oleg, I like it a lot!
Well, there's something you don't see every day.
I enjoyed the performance!

Bravo, magnifique!
Wonderful! Great work. Really impressive. Thanks for sharing.
Magnifique !!! Tiens 4 personnes sourdes (ou jalouses) parmi l'auditoire .... ;) ;)
De toute beauté.
Wonderful performance!! Bravo, Bravo!!
With the most respect! :-)
Bravíssimo!!!!

The description says it is a period instrument ("historical ophicleide : Gautrot Marquet-Couesnon&Cie 11 keys Bb")
Very good.

Because composers treated it like a Tuba and didn't use the upper range, which is a shame
Ophicleide players get all the chicks.

The saxophone, which came along much later, is basically an ophicleide but with a reed instead of a brass-style mouthpiece.
Wow, that is beautiful.
Opchicleide I wished stuck around as an articulated tenor voice for band. Since it is very articulated on how it sounds.
Impressive playing! I can't help but wonder what it feels like to play one of these things. I must imagine the embouchure alone to be somewhat unique.
WOW GUYS. NICE.
Hey, this is really cool!
Bravo!!
Dang, he makes it sound easy. And that is not an easy instrument to play (apparently).
Wow, amazing. He really mastered that beast. However, the girls behind him are laughing at him.
