After a bit, the sand blocks the kelp were placed on would break, as well as the ones below. Is there any way to fix this? I'm playing on a realm, so I'm unsure if it's caused by lag, or something wrong with the farm.
Made it exactly as the video shows but when I turn it on, the sand blocks the kelp was placed on is ejected from the machine. Any suggestions? I’m on xbox

What I do is take out water, 4 sand and sticky piston. Then I put it back in the order of, Sticky piston, then sand, then water, then place two kelp on each side then break top one. This works for me, it seems like it resets the pistons or something.

Probably in between chunks
Remade the machine. The sand stopped breaking but the kelp is not growing like in the video. Not sure what I’m doing wrong
try changing the tick speed from redstone repeater
