      @@martingibson8273 You are not getting out and back to the reflector you have setup up - double check your settings and home router - you need to see the return arrow and not the red cross/X - I doubt there is a block but you never know - perhaps try to ping the reflector from another device on your network.

    I am guessing this setup will work with the IC-705 through the WLAN. I have registered with our local Dstar Repeater. (I can get my radios to run though a repeater which is to far from home or my openSPOT2 works.
    What is the Terminal/AP call sign? What do you use and do you have to register it somewhere. Do you need a windows machine to run this? I am guessing no.

    One mistake I made setting up resulted in repeated errors with bad terminal AP call sign. The manual is none too clear, and support at Icom never caught the problem with a many reply back and forth support ticket. Those of us with a 1x2 or 1x3 call sign need to add more spaces between the call sign, and the designation suffix. If you have a 1x2, you need 3 spaces behind the call. Maybe just I fell into that trap, but if you get a "terminal/AP call sign" error, here is the culprit.

    Hi David ... could you explain why it works in this XLX and not in others? .... Do you know any other type of reflectors (REF, DCS, XRF) that accept the Icom terminal mode?

    • @davidcappello
      @davidcappello  4 года назад

      Terminal mode should work if allowed with G3 software from Icom on the D-Start stack. You can access XLX227 B since it is the only known reflector with additional software loaded and needed to accept/use connections from the 9700. More info in here and in the comments: davidcappello.com/2019/06/29/icom-ic-9700-internal-terminal-mode/#more-2826

    Hello David,
    Thanks for the upload.
    I own a 9700. Do you know if it's now possible to connect to additional reflectors using this ethernet approach? I'd like to be able to use REF001C or RE079A this way instead of having to buy an OpenSpot.
    Many Thanks,

      Hi John, you can only connect to "things" that support the terminal mode - right now there are several XRF reflectors that have the code support - see my post and the notes at: davidcappello.com/2019/06/29/icom-ic-9700-internal-terminal-mode/

    David, can You explain how to setup the Access Point Mode with a D-Star handheld radio (I am using the IC-92 and want to use the IC-9700 as a AP to work on DV mode?

      The only Icom HT that I am aware of that will work in Access Point Mode is the ID-51A Plus2 - but any of the other Icom D-star radios should work fine as an access radio to any Icom running in Access Point Mode. I have not set up the IC-9700 in Access Point Mode in terminal mode (yet), but I have understanding it works just fine. I am also not familiar with the IC-92 at all.

    Hi David, this is a great Video, however I got something wrong, when I press PTT I got a red cross on the top of the Up arrow, do you have an idea why?

    • @davidcappello
      @davidcappello  2 года назад

      Thanks for the kind words - so the red X you get when you press the PTT means you are not "making it" to the remote side/reflector - what reflector were you trying and double check your typing of the hostname.domain.name or the IP address. Keep in mind "normal" reflectors like REFXXX are not supported.

      So take a look at any reflector list - as an example: xlx.davidcappello.com/index.php?show=reflectors look for reflectors that say they support terminal mode - example: look at the entry for the XLX102 reflector - if you click on that it takes you to a web page xlx102.xlxreflector.org/ from there you know that the Gateway Repeater (Server/IP Domin that you would enter in the Icom xlx102.xlxreflector.org Since module B looks like the place to be you for the TO you would use /XLX102B hope that helps

      I am unable to verify 143.312 that is outside my operating privileges here in the US FCC. With that said I am unable to even tune my 9700 over to 143.312 to listen - I have the USA 9700 perhaps check the manual for EU models they may be able to tune lower than 144.
