      It's not in the time line, what happened in 1999 is that albricht entrati went back to that time to hide from the man in the wall and proceeds to infect some people with Grey Strain of the infestation to create a brand new type of warframes based on Ballas's Helminth Strain warframes, he called them 'Protoframes'. maybe in order to protect him or to carry some missions from him in 1999. Those Protoframes would later grow larger and larger because of the grey strain they are made out of and later turn into the giant Vessels we see in the sanctum anatomica.

    What always throws me off with the warframe storyline is how we never are introduced to other Tenno. The lore and story appear to make it clear that our particular operator are not the only Tenno around. Yet all the story and plot reacts in such a way that our Tenno is the only operator around. Our Tenno gets sucked into a portal, thus Narmer takes over the solar system? All the other Tenno just said fuck it I guess?

    • @rhettorical
      @rhettorical Год назад +349

      I've always held that each Warframe is canonically only the pilot of a single Warframe, but that still doesn't explain how or why we're the "special" one. My best explanation is that we just happen to be playing the one who all the unique things happen to, but other Tenno are present.
      Vor's Prize - You happen to be the pilot of the Warframe that Vor found.
      Second Dream - A squad of Tenno retrieve Lua, you just happen to be the one who makes it to the Reservoir. After the quest is over, you lead everyone else to the Reservoir. The Reservoir room exists in the Lua tileset and is clearly empty and ransacked by other factions.
      War Within - You just happen to be the one who gets captured by the Queens. You use what you've learned to help the other Tenno tap into their hidden potential.
      New War - All of the Tenno are in the fight, but you're the one who ends up confronting Ballas. It's clear that your attempt to kill him was a snowball's chance in hell and the Sentients were absolutely not losing the fight. With you failing at your mission, the other Tenno hide away and you go on your acid trip. You're the only one whose timeline was split. Duviri seems to confirm this since Duviri is literally just you.
      It's fairly clear that there is only one of each Warframe, that's repeated over and over again. Valkyr was captured by Alad V in an attempt to figure out what a Warframe really is. Protea belonged to Parvos. Titania, Harrow, Yareli, Inaros, basically any Warframe with a quest associated with them is a unique thing, hence a unique Operator.

      I think it's mostly a ludonarrative dissonance. They want to make a personal game about a single individual that is the key to all major events in the universe even though realistically they also know this is a four player coop game where they have to at least aknowledge the fact there's multiple tennos at once for it to make sense. Hence why the Lotus always acts like you're the only person around that matters, why you basically only save yourself from LUA after waking up, why the minute your lone tenno fails in the New War, there's nobody left to protect the Origin System while you were gone , etc...
      Personally in my headcannon, I like to imagine there's only a handful of Tennos left, and most of them are not yet awake and may still be dreaming in their reservoir pods. That could explain why with the Lotus gone, there's nobody there to essentially brainwash the sleepîng Tenno's warframes into performing missions in the Origin System. I also really like the idea that originally each Tenno only had a single frame, and nowadays with so many dead or missing , our Tenno is able to recover and replicate old lost warframes and swap between them. I also like to think the "Warframe Cryopods" we keep protecting are actual orokin era people that were infected by the helminth strand and put in cryosleep, or even worse, bodies we end up using cause we need a being inside our frames to control / infect ... Cause I mean, we get blueprints for the mechanical parts and armor of the frame, but we still need a being inside them , right ? Maybe they are clones of the original individuals that infected and used to create each frames . I also like to imagine each frames are unique partially because of the way Ballas made them , but also because of the personality / gender and role of the person that was chosen to be infected... And that with blueprints we also get the necessary info to replicate the being inside the frame to some extent.

      It's hard to write a multiplayer story so most of them are written as if you're the chosen one, which is weird when you see a thousands of others running around.

    The reason why Ballas reprogrammed Natah and seemingly let her keep the Tenno was because he wanted to reshape Natah into a new (not dead) Margulis. As a mimic, Natah could fulfill this desire if Ballas. But as Natah becomes more and more like the part of Margulis who hated Ballas's cild-hearted nature towards the Tenno, he hated Natah for not being the idealized version of Margulis he wanted her to be.

      Personally I don't believe that Natah was reprogrammed to become the Lotus. I believe that Natah found something that provided her information about Margulis, and she was *inspired* to become the Lotus. In the Apostasy Prologue the Lotus starts the converstion in a way that always gave me the vibe that this was the first time Ballas and the Lotus actually met (at least in person). Also, even as she was reprogrammed to be Natah again, she sounded somewhat resentful of her family for making her into a warmachine and preventing her from becoming a mother (the intro monologue to the Ropalolyst fight). And finally: why would Ballas wait so long? It's been over a thousand years since the Old War ended, and now he makes a move to retrieve the Lotus? I don't think that's just him taking his sweet time - I think he couldn't before now. I believe that Ballas actually was not able to reprogram a sentient, until he was able to manipulate Erra into giving him something (technology or information) that allowed Ballas to do so, which he used to take control of the Lotus. Hunhow would not be stupid enough to give an Orokin anything that could potentially be used against the Sentients like this, but Erra definately was.

    Amazing video but I will say the part about the Zarimon keeping the void open is actually the opposite. The Zarimon is halfway inside the void, and halfway out. It's actually acting as a plug. If it were to pop out the void would cascade from the hole and destroy the origin system. We get told that by one of the holdfast members

    • @Joe90h
      @Joe90h Год назад +64

    • @Emptylord
      @Emptylord Год назад +40

      @@Joe90h Plus it's not exactly "halfway" inside either - it entered the void and exited in two places. That is part of the Paradox; the point of departure between The Operator and The Drifter's story. The Zariman is not circular - it is crescent shaped. The front of the ship is visible from both Duviri and within the Origin System. (This was known even before The Duviri Paradox came out - since the Zariman was visible in Duviri's trailer from four years ago). The events of The New War somewhat establish that Wally created the wound by making the deal with our child-self and so presumably The Operator is the version that shouldn't have happened. I would speculate that the wound cannot close while The Operator continues to exist.
      I suppose it's speculation as to whether or not Wally's plan was to create the wound, or whether he only planned to escape with the Operator (and the wound was unintended).

    Minor points on Erra. A lot of stuff around him and his timline is pretty confusing, but I don't think his motivations are quite so vague. Based on his conversations with Ballas, what Hunhow says about him, and some of the comms we get directly from him during The New War, it seems to me that he chose to ally with Ballas mostly because he saw his father as a failure. After all, they did lose the Old War pretty hard once the Tenno showed up. He comes across as a rebellious youth, rejecting the old, outdated ways of his parents. His turn against Ballas seems pretty well explained too, based on his dialogue when you first meet him in Praghasa. Erra was totally cool with just subjugating everything in the Origin System, but Ballas decided he wanted full genocide instead, which would include the Sentients. Erra wasn't cool with that, and decides to eat some humble pie and throw his lot in with the only person who actually has a chance at stopping Ballas--You.

    • @ayushdeshmukh284
      @ayushdeshmukh284 Год назад +47

      This, and also,
      Orokin is not simply the name for human but rather the name for the elites among the human race - Hunhow was just being kinda racist (species-ist?),
      Sentients weren't just for Terraforming - all kinds of Tech could already terraform - the main benefit was that they could survive the normal space journey all the way to Tau,
      The Sentients were winning, but that battle was largely in Tau. Coming to the Origin System was a last ditch effort from Hunhow after they were losing to Warframes and Ballas told them about Tenno being the weak point.
      the Zariman mission was definitely before the creation of the Sentient Project,
      Parvos was in power before the Zariman launch and offered Cavalero a job,
      and there's no conclusive evidence about which Zariman belongs to Drifter or Operator and what exactly happened with the Zariman that came.

In that sense, all humans were Orokin. But it's true that "The Orokin" usually refers specifically to the elite nobility. It's a pretty minor semantic distinction that, in the long run, doesn't really matter. Of course, to Hunhow humans are all the same so he doesn't really care. Everyone goes into the woodchipper.

    I was surprised you mentioned we have no reason for Erra working with Ballas, he explains to Hunhow quite clearly. The Sentients lost, and Ballas offered what Hunhow never could, victory. Domination over the Origin system and victory over humans, preventing any further efforts on behalf of the Orokin to reach Tau and turning them into an obedient, more machine like race of slaves. It's why Erra was confused when Ballas was throwing a tantrum over the Tenno return, as he says... "We have won." Plus by this point Ballas is more sentient than man so its not that much of a compromise either from Erra's point of view. Although that is why Hunhow objects, saying that Ballas is still Orokin and Erra is basically a Dax now, serving an Orokin elite. Ballas is so effective because he doesn't care about sides, only himself. He wanted the other Orokin elite dead and the Sentients dead or serving him, basically being God Emperor of Origin to enact his mad plan. Everyone is trying to figure out what side he is on and he was only ever on his own side, everyone else is still caught up in Orokin vs Sentient.

    Fantastic timeline rundown! A pondering... I was under the impression that the Tenno were immortal due to their void exposure, rather than simply benefiting from cryosleep and The Dream. The Lotus describes them as being "more than human" and Yonta makes mention that both the Tenno and Holdfasts have Void Bodies rather than conventional flesh. It's also a prime reason that the Grineer Queens were so interested in seeking one as a Yuvan; immortal void child = no more Continuity, plus cool void powers.

      The New War basically confirms that Tenno are "unkillable" rather than "immortal". Tenno will age and die, but during their lifespan, every possibility exists for them, so if you take a random bullet to the head, you can pop back into existence as the version of yourself that leaned a little to the left and missed that bullet.
      Since Tenno power is based on possibility, there's only really three ways I can think of to kill them for good:
      1. The Man in the Wall somehow just removes their power. Without what He did for them, they become normal kids and can die like anyone else.
      2. Let them age out and die. In all likelihood, there are no possibilities that the Tenno live forever, so at some point, all their possibilities will run out and they will die of natural causes.
      3. Create some sort of massive destruction that is so immense that there would be literally no possibility anywhere in time that the Tenno could escape it. Like blowing up the entire Orion arm of the galaxy or something. Humanity hasn't even managed to leave the solar system yet, so there's no possibility the Tenno could get away from this level of destruction.

    A minor point, but the Zariman incident had to have happened after the invention of Sentients. Zariman's entire thing was the settlement of terraformed Tau system, and it had a revolutionary FTL drive, which the Sentient did not have access to and were limited to relativistic speeds - meaning they'd need several years if not decades to even get to Tau, while Zariman could get there much quicker. Zariman seems to have relied on the Tau terraforming being either done or advanced enough to where sending people and plants had a point, so it was probably only starting construction when the Sentients were leaving, if that.

    I think there are some mistakes about Alad V and Orokin in general.
    First of all, I'm pretty sure "Orokin" is NOT just a term for human. The Orokin were the leading caste in the Orokin Empire, which also derives from the name "Oro-Kin" (Gold-Kin or "Golden Lords" what they're called often). Onyl these higher-ups did the Continuity, as the Yuvan were probably part of the "common" people (Or perhaps lab-grown? Who knows?).
    Now Alad V was probably alive during the fall of the Orokin Empire. there are quite a few hints for this, e.g. he gets called "Orokin" by some (as you mentioned), but also he is the ONLY one who gets called that (except from the obvious ones like Ballas and the Entratis).
    Another hint is that he, as the only one, calls the Tenno "betrayers" which points to the Tenno bringing the orokin empire to fall. From his voice and choice of words, he seems to carry some personal grudges against the tenno, because of that.
    He also carries the typical Orokin character traits, like being extremely arrogant in terms of being able to control different technologies (warframes, the infestation, sentients), which the Orokin also thought to be able to control, but led to their downfall.

Wiki states that parvos granum was the son of a farmer in the orokin era and he founded the corpus faction. Parvos wasn't orokin and came into direct conflict with them (wiki can give u full details). Since salad fingers isn't old like parvos its highly unlikely he was alive during the orokin rule

    My big question about warframe lore is "what about other tenno?" The storyline makes... an amount of sense if we're the only tenno around, but we aren't, are we? Lotus tells us to find others to team up with. People know what a "tenno" is without that being just us; we aren't "the only tenno anyone has seen in living memory" we're just a tenno. The relays are labeled as "tenno relays." Factions like the Arbiters of Hexis have opinions on what it means to be a tenno. Coordinated teams of tenno were recruited to attack orphixes during operation Scarlet Spear. There's a dead rhino on the Plains of Eidolon and I don't think it was mine.
    So, if the player is just one of many tenno, what's the deal with the others? How long have they been awake? Do they know about the operators and the second dream and just never mentioned it to us? Did they all get themselves from Lua after the second dream, so they couldn't be captured by hostile factions? What happened to them during the New War? Were they all killed and now the player is the only tenno? Did they just go into hiding once it became obvious we were losing and only came back out into public after Ballas's downfall? Did they veil a bunch of operators (if so, why do we never fight any warframes when fighting Narmer)? Did the warframes all get chopped up and made into archons and then they rebuilt in the aftermath of the New War?

    A note on the handshake this video made me think of. In the movie 'the one' a person gains power from the death of a parallel self. In the case of the multiple deaths. Wally could be reducing all continuities down to two to give the operator/drifter void powers that would have been shared by many souls. Then the reason for two then would be to prevent the operator from becoming as powerful as him.

    I do find it hilarious that in a video going over the entire Warframe timeline and trying to explain it, a third of it is just, "This happens and we don't really know why."
    On a side note if you see this, Brozime, what are Archons? Are they sentients? Why are the animals, is that a different tier of sentient we haven't seen before? Why does the Lotus reference the Ram as a different entity from Pazuul? Why are they working for Narmer? Do they believe in the cause or is it just something to do?

    • @xSoulhunterDKx
      @xSoulhunterDKx Год назад

      they are sentients merged with frames

    • @matthewmartinez3550
      @matthewmartinez3550 Год назад +1

      From what I understand, the history is that the Archons were the first Sentients on Tau. Something something, now they're dead. Could be Old War, could be something else. Sometime around TNW, Ballas or Erra resurrects all but the leader, Pazuul, the Ram. In the aftermath, the archons get revived again, and they in turn resurrect Pazuul using Erra's body. There was always a hierarchy, Ballas, then Erra, then the Archons. With Ballas destroyed and the Archons more closely revered, they were the ones saved, and they became the leaders of Narmer.
      Of course, this is like 40% lore, 60% speculation. All I can say is: Lotus separates Erra from Pazuul because she wants her brother back. Narmer already worshiped the Archons, so it could just be that they want to take advantage of their following.

  • @TehRoastGod
    @TehRoastGod Год назад +1

    The reason Erra defected to us (The Operator/Drifter) is because Ballas was going to use Praghasa to devour the sun and destroy the Origin System purely just to spite Lotus hence his line 'Are you so full up of death now?'
    Ballas' plan turned from "I'm going to shit on the Orikin for killing Margulis" to "I'm going to do that, and kill everything the Lotus ever loved." Which Ballas even told to Erra himself. "Let her come, I'm going to make her kill the only thing she ever loved." (The Operator/Drifter). By destroying the sun, Ballas would remove the primary component of nurturing life, which includes the Sentients. While DE left alot of holes in their story (whether intentional or unknowingly, that's beyond me), Erra's intentions for defecting are pretty clear.
    The Lotus explains during Archon Hunt: Amar that Erra has been a tool his own life. Manipulated by Hunhow, Ballas and now the ram (Pazuul). He had the capability to realize people used him, but only when it was too late. Hence her line "I grieve for who he could have been."
    Lastly, regarding Ballas' decision to destroy the sun, he had been planning that since the very beginning. Everything from Margulis' death, the infestation, the Sentients and the Warframes. His plans failed time and time again. He was going to use the sun to fuel his jump to Tau in order to start over. So why not take a last minute shit on his ex-girlfriend while he's at it? Ballas is manipulative, conniving and petty. He has only been on one side his entire life, and it's himself. Erra realized this at the last literal second.

    at around 22:00 - They are not copies or clones of the finger, although I imagine this was probably just convenient and 'close enough' short-form on Brozime's behalf.
    Just like Void relics contain all and none of the possible rewards simultaneously due to what is Warframe's quantum uncertainty parallel (Eternalism), the same finger of the Man in the Wall is utilized to power every-single Railjack at the same time. Basically, the railjacks utilize Eternalism to have the same object simultaneously present inside of all of them at the same time. It's literally an infinite energy glitch from abusing duping tactics, but in-universe and canon to the story. There is only one finger, but because of Eternalism timey-whimey spacey-wacey it's in all of them and none of them at the same time.

    it would be nice if DE sets up a timeline of 'What Ifs' like for one of the timelines, what if the grineer queen successfully transferred her mind(using the kuva in the war within quest) into the operator and we as the operator/drifter from the current timeline get to fight her in her operator form

      Tbh, with the whole Eternalism stuff, I'd like to see the future WARFRAME's updates will be about those 'What ifs' universes.

      NO. Hell no. I do not want warframe to start focusings on what if scenarios. I want them to keep the current timeline going and try and clear up all the fucking ambiguity in the storyline. I don't need to entertain 'what if this happened' when I don't even know what the hell is happening now.

    I am surprised that I actually caught most of all the information you covered just by playing the game! I need a video like this for other games, like Genshin, where I feel like I missed 70% :D
    Thank you! Let's see how this network of information will look like after the Duviri! (Very excited!)

      The thing about Genshin's lore is that a lot of it is tucked away in LTEs and the main story's pacing assumes you did those LTEs. Didn't play during this year's Windblume? No details about the Hexenzirkel for you. Missed the Irodori Festival? It's implied that Scaramouche is partially responsible for Kazuha's family falling into ruin. Forewent Fabulous Fungi Frenzy? That's where you learn that Sumeru's various fungi weren't always hostile. Better hope that the various players recorded their sessions and uploaded the footage on RUclips!
      Now, which parts of those LTEs are actually central to the main story? Oh boy, is _that_ going to be entertaining! (Spoilers: It ain't much.)
