Audi nailed it with the styling on this new TT--they are striking in person, yet still retain enough of the original DNA to be immediately recognizable. Awesome interior too. nice vid!
i always said " ill never drive a TT. never in my life" - 2016 i can say, i just bought a TTs :D and i freakin love this car. Thumbs up and greetz from germany :)
Negative comments are only from people who can't afford it, have never driven it or have nothing better to do... It's a great car, my Silver 2015 TT S-line is superb.
Saw a TTS like this a while back in black. I saw it every day for one week and every time I saw it parked I started to love the design of the car more.
I've always liked the look of TT and this is even sexier. It looks like they have shortened the wheel base and made it slightly wider. That interior is spot-on.
I was able to take this car for a test drive 2 days ago and man it is an amazing car. The launch control really works. No tire spin at all. It just goes. Tomorrow we are going to test drive a S4 since the woman wants a manual and it's one of the only cars audi puts one it. The salesmen said the S4 is even better!
Was never really a fan of the old TT, but this is some thing special. Different enough on the front end that it doesn't blend in with every other Audi when viewed from the front, stunning all round. That line that runs through from the wings and down the side to the back is so sharp and aggressive and much less hair dresser-ish.
Just don't ever take it to a track or any elongated cross country rampages if you don't want to ruin your brakes. The torque vectoring will destroy your brakes in no time and makes them fade really fast, really bad, very unpredictable. That's where the confidence around the turns comes from. You've been warned.
At the Geneva motorshow earlier this month and the interior of the TT is still one of the best out there. Nothing Merc or BMW comes close. I tried an M235i recently alongside a 220d and the generic BMW looks are not a patch on this TT. The C class Coupe has plenty of style but the interior is a let down despite being Mercedes best effort. Only the Cayman really beats this for me but then with options £60k is the real world cost of the Porsche.
If you shall own a golf, you shall own the one on my channel lads. The 40 year Anniversary 2017 GTI Clubsport! Looks more badass than this. Esp in Carbon steel grey and Black Roof!
I’m a purist. I prefer traditional 2 dr 2 seat rwd like a cayman but I do like the newest TT. Probably the best looking car Audi has designed, and capable.
Thinking about getting one of these. I am NOT a car guy at all. What do I have to do to make it louder/faster? What upgrades? Obviously I'd take it to a professional but I don't want to look stupid asking for these upgrades lol. Basically, I just want it to have a deeper/louder "vroom".
Exactly the same feelings towards the TT as the reviewer. However, he said he doesn't advise it for long trips. So the next logical question is, is the TTs really worth buying if you're only going to use it as a weekend car? Is it even good enough with only 300HP? And it doesn't have a true Quattro, only a Haldex. I think I'd rather get an S1 or S3 with a more practical application as well as being fun to drive (and take them over to ABT). Or a Leon Cupra, an M2 etc.etc. ALL cheaper and I'm guessing in some cases more fun to drive.
+lapamful when you put it in the drive select mode "dynamic" the car drives with "true" all wheel drive all the time. I saw a video from the official audi site and I believe it's 60% back 40% front. It's the new gen haldex system. www.audi-technology-portal.de/de/antrieb/quattro/elektronisch-geregelte-lamellenkupplung it's the second video
Yes, but that's the way most Haldex systems work including in the BMW X1. You have to keep it in Sport mode (or whatever) for AWD to be engaged. Same with the S1 and S3. As I said in my original comment, my inclination (before driving the TTs) would be to go for an S1 (with the same AWD system) and take it to ABT for a bit of tune up. Unless of course the TTs is so much better. I dunno, but this is what my instincts tell me to investigate first.
A third pedal and a stick is a necessity for this car. Buying this car with an automatic transmission is like grilling the finest, most exquisite cut of Kobe beef, then throwing it in a microwave.
I'm 6'3 and fit perfectly well in my Mk1. And thanks to all the hate and it not being a real "sports car" it was phenomenally cheap off of craigslist. Your generation may not have appreciated it but broke college students certainly do. And for the money, you get fantastic but not life threatening performance, close to 30mpg, and aside from a few finicky electronics, great reliability. Just learn to work on it yourself or you'll be robbed blind at shops. And as a bonus, your car can rip v6 mustangs, camaros, neons, cobalts, eclipses, riced Hondas and the occasional unsuspecting 350 or 370z a new ass. And look better doing it!
Why is so controversial car ? It's a nice looking small sporty car... and it's full of newest tech... I hate to say bit if this is Jag everybody will loose their minds talking how is that perfect car...
Fake engine sounds through the speakers are ruining otherwise good cars. Let the engine be the engine. It sounds the way it does. If you want a better sound, it should be done mechanically rather than electronically.
+Robiul Ahmed It's actually quite the opposite. I have a MK7 GTI that has a similar "noise maker" installed and I drove around for about a week shifting early because the fake engine sound was roaring and I'm only doing like 3500 RPM! Once I unhooked the dreaded thing, I could actually hear the true sound of the engine and it made shifting by ear much easier.
I really appreciate the design language of this TTS, but does is deliver the type of driver dynamics that cater to the buyers who like comfort as well as sportiness? I love the idea of a true sports car but does it allow for the driver to enjoy a daily driver experience? I'm looking for a car that can offer me both, and unfortunately I haven't been able to take this one for a test drive yet. I know that true enthusiasts do not care much for creature comforts, however I am not operating on a limitless budget and I would like to see things such as an effective navigation system as well as a smooth transmission paired with a sense of comfort and reliability. Does this car offer the whole lot or should I direct my attention elsewhere? Any input would be appreciated. By the way, I love the looks of it in White :)
Hi bud, I own the TDI, so not quite the same as this, but what I can say is that in terms of comfort, it ticks all the boxes. The interior is literally the nicest interior I've ever sat in, and it's incredibly comfy. The DSG gearbox is also brilliant, really smooth. I opted for the manual in the end because I just prefer manuals, but the DSG gearbox really is impressive. Plus, put the thing in comfort mode and it's a great cruiser. Put it into dynamic and it's a completely different beast. Honestly if you're in a position to get one, I would.
I took one out for a test drive. It is a wonderful car of that there's no doubt. Then I saw a Mk2 TTRS for sale with 5k on it for £15k less & snatched their hands off. £50k is just too much. If it had been under £40 I may not have waited. Thing is you test drive one & realise due to it being so good, it needs more. No Sat Nav etc on that gorgeous display would be a no go, that package alone £1500. You must have parking system plus, advanced key etc & before you know it £50k has been passed. Great reviews, you got one on TT RS?
The TTS takes 4.6s 0-100km meanwhile the a-class amg takes 4.2s. Even if the AMG was slower it wouldn't bother me cause it sounds so much better and looks actually like a mean sports car and not a grandma's coupe.
Bora Markovic a45 is the mst hardocre version of the a class. the tts isn´t. the a45 doesn´t stand a chance soudwise and performancewise against the RS.
Not a fan of the gen 3 styling. Now it just looks like every other sharp angle manufacturer. Love the gen 1 and 2 styling, love how bubbly they are. It's a very retro-futurism look, and a lot more timeless than this gen 3 styling will prove to be.
I have a TTS in Sepang Blue and it is an awesome car. This is a great review. Oh I got all of the major options and it cost me less than £40k. He is talking about list price. Who pays list price for a car nowadays.
If you're just after performance, the TTS is a Golf R, and you can have a Golf R for a lot cheaper than this. I dig this TT and the looks are going to be enough to sell people, but the premium in this over the Golf R, considering they're really the same exact car underneath, is a tough pill to swallow. Also, I don't know if it sounds "good" per se. It sounds, just as the Golf R does, like my Mk7 GTI. It's not necessarily a "good" sound... it's just a "sound". They could've opened the exhaust up a bit on this TTS. That said, the DSG farts are a nice touch.
I always liked tha original TT, especially the interior. The gauge cluster was very basic like that found in an old sports car, raw and natural, good job there IMO. Ofcosrse the old car needed more power but what doesn't? I do like the car but would love to see that Quattro concept to see the light of day!!
huge amount of fans is an overstatement, i hardly see one, last time i saw one pass by was months ago, truth is not too many like this car, because it's lack of practicality and excessive pricing
Correct me if I'm wrong but everything i have read thus far indicated the Golf R is still the slightly sweeter driver between the two, and that would always bug me. Knowing my "sports car" with it's higher list price, lower centre of gravity, aluminium construction and 2+2 layout is still less fun to drive than a practical hatchback. To me this means the TT is still somewhat of a posers car and that's a shame.
So you buy a car for others? I buy a car just for myself. Don't care what others think. And if you can't see the difference between a TT and an R8, you must be blind...
Cars Life here's the new rs www.autogespot.com/audi-tt-rs-2017/2016/03/11 I love the M2, but the new ttrs has a more aggressive front and looks more like a sports car than the m2, the m2 is too high above the ground and doesn't have a sportscar typical shape
My thoughts exactly. He talks about the handling, but doesn't really show us how things are on a properly twisty road, under proper pressure. Just posting a video on the internet doesn't guarantee credibility. It has to be done right. In this case, when he talks about the handling, he also has to be on a road such as the Stelvio pass, showing us what the car can really do on those nice tight corners. The road this video was filmed on is a flat-out straight line, nothing short (or long) of a drag strip. How can someone talk about handling on such an easy road?

Sounds pretty decent for a 4 banger, but I think I'd still take the old TT-RS for the sound of that 2.5 5-cyl.
4 cylinder sport cars can sound great as there have been a history of them. Having a 4 cylinder family car is never going to sound good or drive good.

Austin Lintelman That's fine. I'd rather have a quiet car than one that makes fake noises.

yup, I say don't silence the turbo. For me a turbo whine sounds like performance just the way a large engine rumble does.

How can someone talk about handling on such an easy road?
never liked this car....but the knew one is very nice
that laugh = 323 dislikes.
When did they say anything bad about any car?
that's a weird looking Golf
I understand the appeal to focus on power and speed on a tv sketch but really how much of a big deal is top speed and acceleration in real life.
+camillako Acceleration can be fun in red light drag races, and for top speed you just need to frequent a track
The Passenger Side Is Quite Minimalist, Because Quite Frankly, Who Cares About Them? LMAO!!!
I would become claustrophobic in that match box...
