My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

Connection between Unicorns and the Irish (and Lucky Charms)?
The Irish Rovers had a very popular song called The Unicorn with lyrics like:

I had one come up to me when I was gardening and was so surprised cuz they usually don't as you said....
Have one at my sliders grabs all nuts that I might put for squirrels. Waits for them now
They are so cute. I have one who let's me know I'm late filling the feeders. Who knew they could chatter so loud!

The trick is.. just find something to insulate the jug with so it doesn’t freeze. 😊 a cute cozy warm water jug blankie. Lol
You could keep it under the sink- feed the water spout up from the jug like you would a normal faucet.. and bada boom! Water at your disposal!

We had something similar for taking a warm shower. The bag was black so you filled it with water and hang it in a tree with the sun shining on it. It warmed the water. We used that back country camping which we did that for 20 years. I miss it, but my back doesn't like the ground anymore.

Much, much cheaper solution for water. I had a water bladder when out hiking, because I was taking water from streams n such I also had a Sawyer Squeeze water filter added mid line. Overkill for your situation, but it you are thinking of filling the bladder when you are going for visits to Walmart toilets or the places you take showers etc, you might consider adding a filter to remove any chemicals from the water treatment, chlorine or flouride for example. I have no idea what is in or not in your water supply in Canada. Just a thought :)

Good idea for water supply! I bought a similar setup online for back country camping that has a inline carbon filter and press clip to adjust water flow. This could be handy for your situation as store bought water can be expensive and temporarily bulky. With the filter you technically could supply yourself from either city water OR a river/creek in Calgary/Outskirts. Ive drank lake water through filter unboiled and so have many others with no issues. Common sense does help in these situations. Cheers!!

You may need to wash the water station pouch routinely to prevent mildew in the lines. My husband has one of those for hiking and camping stores sell these special tablets for it.

Maybe your cousin could get an all in one diesel heater, have it outside the tent but heat vent goes into tent. Or just have a 2nd heater in backup.

They are telling me that I can not get coverage on a conversion and if I do it and say nothing I will not have any coverage if something was to happen. .
