I mean this from the bottom of my heart. No BS. People like you are what make the world go round. Repairing your own property is empowering.
Thank you, brother it’s something my father taught me at a young age. You can do anything the next man can, which in some situations you may need a professional but most of the time you can do it yourself 💪🏽🔥
They charge 350-500 at the shops to do this wow. They ripping people off. Great video bro
Yes sir the shops always ripping people off, easy breezy … thanks
Bro really appreciate you 🙏 saved me a ton of money doing it myself. Thanks for the video well done 👊
Glad I could help bro, you’re welcome.
This was a great video brotha much appreciate it! Durango gang all the way 💯😤

Thank you! your instructional video was much better than other ones I’ve seen.
Thank you so much, glad I could help 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you, Darnell! I'm getting ready to replace mine, and your instructions gave me the confidence to this myself. I'm trying to save money where I can as a single mama.
You’re welcome, I’m glad I could help and it’s AMAZING to hear you gained confidence from this video. You can do whatever you set your mind to, no one is greater than the next and if they can do it you can do it.
@@darnelldoesit2294 I'll keep you posted on how it turns out! Thanks again, I appreciate the kind words :)
I DID IT!!!! 😎 Thank you Darnell!!
How would I reset the check engine light after the thermostat has been changed and coolant has been refilled?
Also, I changed my air and cabin filters 💪🏽
Yayyyyyyyy!!!!! That’s Awesome, so I didn’t reset mine it cut off on its own. @davidbarbour left a comment a couple of months ago advising us that the check engine light will go off after three cold to hot engine cycles. Again great job.
@#DarnellDoesIt update: my check engine light reset the next day and I went in for my smog check the same day. Everything worked out. New thermostat, filters, passed smog and new license plate tags.
Thank you!
Hey Darnell thanks for the help, the video was great and informative. One thing I was curious about though is if I do or don’t need to bleed it
I didn’t have to bleed the system, I just let the truck run and filled up the reservoir as needed
Same vehicle same issue... thanks for this one!!! Saving the vid so I can get this done in the morning!!!
I’m glad the video could help 💪🏽🔥🔥
I definitely thought changing the thermostat was gonna major . Thanks for the informative video. 💯

Your welcome, glad I could save you some time!!! How did it go?
How did you shut your check engine light off after the job?
@@calvinberlin9856 after three cycles of the engine going from cold to hot it automatically goes out.

@@darnelldoesit2294 any chance on replacing break pads video on the durango bro?
bro.... after i replaced the thermostat the engine light is stil there. How long till the lights goes off or do i need to take it somewhere and reset it? mechanic?
I didn’t record me doing the brakes 🤦🏽♂️ my bad
It will turn itself off, it usually takes 3 full engine cycles
Thnx friend! Great video!

@@darnelldoesit2294 No Doubt!!!
appreciate homie good stuff 👍
Glad I could help you 🔥
Great video thank you very much The only thing that I don't know if you have another video on that or not but is that thing gonna airlock and I noticed that thermostat had a bleeder notch in it So we don't want 1 overheat At least I want anyways cause I'm getting ready to do 1 so I hope you have a video of how to bleed the system so it don't airlock But thank you very much great video though bro thank you
I didn’t have to bleed my system, but if your reservoir is full and your temp gauge is moving you definitely should bleed it.
Thanks man!!
You are welcome 🤗 glad I could assist you
dude!!! life saver
Glad I could help you 💪🏽🔥🔥
Darrel I love you thank you
Glad I could help

Yesssssirrrr 💪🏽🔥🔥🔥
Great vid much appreciated. No hi temp RTV or Silicone required is that correct? Thank you Sir. 👍
No sir, none at all. The housings has a built in seal. Your welcome
Im having trouble finding where the temperature sensor is on my 2015 durango v6. Do you have a video for that??? I found a few videos but none looked like what I needed
Driver side of engine closer to the firewall
Question for every body that has change there thermostat...have you had any other problems after you change that part? I gat a 2015 Durango with 80 miles and light engine come on. Same problem and im worry after this more things are wanna come up. Thank you
No sir, after I changed the thermostat the check engine light has stayed off, the particular 2015 Durango in this video has around 160k+ miles
Bruh looking around like he live in Chicago. Lbs. Good video, though.👍🏿
🤣😂🤣😅 you got me!!! I’m in Atlanta but it’s just a habit.
Would it be the same steps for a 2015 r/t?
Yes it is, the set up of the motor is pretty much the same only difference is that the 5.7L thermostat is separate from the housing. My apologies I’m just getting my notification about your question.
I could do this myself but I don’t know how to use that socket thing 😩😩😩
You really could still do it. It’s not hard to use the socket, do you have anybody that could help you? I Believe in you!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I am looking for the temperature sensor reader. I cannot find where that goes.
Driver side of engine closer to firewall
Is this process the same for the 2011 Citadel?
Yes it is and if you have the Hemi it’s also the same but the thermostat is located on the left front of the block.
Did you noticed your radiator fan acting different after replacing the thermostat with a non OEM one?
No I haven’t noticed anything out of the usual and haven’t had anymore problems with any of the cooling components.
Do you think the sensor getting stuck is the common reason the radiator fan runs high?
It’s a big possibility but I’ve never ran into a problem like that so I can’t say for sure that’s the issue.
@@darnelldoesit2294 I figured out it was the thermostat. It was stuck closed.
Glad you figured it out and I learned something new at the same time 🔥🔥🔥
Bro I followed your video and my Durango started to overheat right after I guess I had to burp it also
I just let mine run ands filled up the reservoir as needed
Did the check engine come off by it self?
Yes sir it did.
Do you have to bleed the system after changing the thermostat?
No sir
Did the check engine go away?
Yes sir it did.
Does the check engine light reset on its own after the repair?
Yes sir it will
@@darnelldoesit2294 hey I appreciate it, you saved me bout 250.
Glad I could help you out💪🏽
@@darnelldoesit2294 how long does it take for that light to disappear? After I changed my thermostat, I’m still getting the check engine light.
Another user commented that after 3 cold to hot cycles it turns off automatically. For me I don’t exactly remember how long it took for mine to turn off but it was within the next day after or so.
Did you have to worry about the coolant hitting ur belt?
No sir, just make sure you lightly rinse the front of the motor off avoiding any electrical components.
@@darnelldoesit2294 bet. I’m changing mines today after work. Taking a camping trip that’s a couple hours away. That mf check engine light had ya boy spooked for a min.
My man....
💪🏽🔥🔥
Was the truck over heating before this ?
It was not overheating but the temperature was getting higher than usually causing a check engine light that read a code for thermostat replacement.
@@darnelldoesit2294 just did it but I have problems with it overheating still.. was I suppose to flush the system out ? Or bleed out the system? Antifreeze in the overfill & Top hose hot bottle hose cold… 😓
Depending on how much antifreeze you lost you may have to bleed the system. How is your radiator? I changed the radiator maybe 2yrs ago.
I believe the radiator is fine, it’s weird tho because it only starts to overheat when I’m in idle so idk if it has to with a oil cooler or temp sensor
Or maybe the fan turning on late
Lol. Damn my dude living in the hood. Got his head on a swivel
It’s become a habit 🤭 ….. I had to go back and watch the video again LOL
@@darnelldoesit2294 I feel it my dude. Stay alert you stay alive. Thanks for the info on the video. You out there risking your life trying to inform the uninformed. Lol. Keep up the good work.
