34-Year-Old Dirt Bike Rebuild, Part 1 | 1990 KX250

- Here's my next project, a 1990 Kawasaki KX250. The previous owner stripped out the oil drain threads 16 years ago and put it away until I bought it last year. Before I tear it down for a restoration I decided to fix it up just enough for a test ride.
This is the first time I don't time-lapse a video. Is it too slow? Boring? Let me know in the comments.
Thank you for maintaining and restoring the history of motocross.
Thanks for watching man
The quality of your restoration work is incredible, I love watching the transformation from neglected to loved 🙏
I love every minute of your videos 🎉
Thanks bro!
Great video, I like that there is no music, feels like I'm doing the rebuild myself. :)
I had a 90 for 5 years. Great bike for taller guys. Excellent suspension and low end for bikes of that time. This makes me wish I had it back !
i have this bike for 10 years. Awesome piece of kawy
That was great to watch even if I don't like 2 strokes
You are forgiveven. I love them all…
Its ok to be wrong, so very wrong
Very satisfying to watch, thanks marc! Logo didn’t bother me.
Fully invested in how this turns out with those plastics you showed. If it's anything like the rm, we are in for a treat 😎
Top job, Marc! Love seeing a bike have a chance at going dirtin again.
Woo another project!!! Cant wait for more. Bike looks pretty clean visually to start!
edit: oh god that carb....that really did sit for a long time.
Would love to see a KDX 200 sometime, they rock! Especially the E-series
Honestly it's not bad at all. Just needs some engine case and frame repairs. I'll be able to reuse most of it... even the chain and sprockets are good haha
I rebuilt an e series KDX that was in pretty bad shape. Rust holes in frame/electrical taped grips/non existent bearings/mouse nest in airbox down into the carb. I thought that carb was rough but the one in this video is crazy. Looked like pure oil in the float bowl.
The KDX came out pretty good but nothing like if mad Marc did one
Dang man that was in pretty rough shape. A diamond in the rough lol great job!
Hello from Greece 🇬🇷 ! I like all your videos and your great work!!!
Liked the normal pace of this one.
Thanks!! Now I can see it again!! Twice is better.
I like your attitude :)
Excellent as always! Can't wait to see more content on this green beast!
This episode was rad as it gets!!
Cleaned the carb, cleaned the gas tank, oiled the clutch, filled with antifreeze, changed the oil at the very end… perfect checks.
You never know how things will work out until you try, but definitely colour.
I miss the Kawasaki days of Jeff Ward and Mike Kiedrowski. I look forward to seeing more.
Tidak sabar menunggu lebih lanjut. Sepeda terlihat cukup bersih secara visual untuk memulai
Great video, looking forward to this one.....would love to see you do 1989 rm 125,all the best from accross the pond👍
Nice ride at Carnegie at the end!
Great video, per usual. Watching you has actually made me better at wrenching on my bike. Currently in search of a CR80 from the 90s in gonna restore and surprise my nephew with. I'd film it, but i have zero video editing skills lol.
What a lucky nephew! The cr80 was my dream bike as a kid.
Great video! Good job my friend
@@bassemkublawi2693 thank you Bassem!
another video, another satisfaction in form of entertainment 🤘🏻🤘🏻💥💥💣💣
Thanks bro, I appreciate you!
marc is a man of few words
@@marioguzman9290 show > tell 🙂
Max I fell on my 650 Kawasaki Ninja, broke both clavicles. I’m 60….Advice dude, and I will listen……Cheers
Sorry to hear that dude, I hope you heal up soon.
Enjoyed the color video much more than the black and white but I can see what you were trying to do now that you explained the first video……….hopefully you will be going back to the original style decals with this one……..the 1990 Kawasaki graphics were always one of my favorite years………I also thought 1992 graphics were cool too where the tank shroud graphics continued into the seat……..I’m also partial to the late 80’s (‘87, ‘88, and ‘89) graphics as well, they were just clean and simple
The @mad marcmoto logo in the middle of the screen is really annoying man
I know it sucks but people keep stealing my vids I dunno what else to do
@@madmarc I don't blame you.
I didn't saw it at all, till you comment it.
I like both versions. Color is better IMO though because it's kawi green.
I own 2 kawis.
So good
Love your videos man! What kind of ultrasonic cleaner are you using and wich temp setting?👀 greetz from holland🇳🇱
@@Floriskamstra thanks buddy, do you mean which cleaning solution? I used Simple Green aircraft cleaner diluted 3-1, and I set the temperature to 55 but I think it went into the 60s
Helo sir watching from bukidnon philipines
nice, im in the middle of fixing a 2001 kx 65
MANTAP😊
👍 estupendo
Me gusta mucho
No air filter, no top end.😳😳
Hey man! I’m cleaning up my 2000 YZ250 and I’m interested in which dremel wheels you use to clean up parts.
I have a 1990 KTM 500MX that needs some TLC after you're done with this one, if you like.
What solution do you use in your ultrasonic cleaner on your carburettors please? It works amazingly well!
I used Simple Green Aircraft Cleaner, diluted 3-1. I hear Simple Green D Pro works well too, and is a better value cause it can be diluted way more.
@@madmarc thank you!
Hi, Waht is the difference between. KDX 250 and a Kx 250 m man Max
KDX is the trail bike version and KX is the motocross version
Wood screws in a bike frame.. 🙄
Lovely😬😬
When are we going to Carnegie?
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Now we get all the benefits that color can provide!

which cleaner did you use in the ultrasonic cleaner
What is the brown sludge in the carb? My fuel tank was full of that same stuff. Not soluble in petrol.
I think it's the oil that's left over after all the gas evaporates
Comment love frm CHICAGO
👍👍🍺
My brain works differently, I literally can't watch this video because your tag is on the screen all the time.
But that doesn't make your videos any less quality. I really appreciate you for entertaining us people like us mechanical nerds again
Trust me I hate putting a stupid watermark there, but people have been reposting my videos all over social media and claiming ownership so I have to do it. 🤷♂️
@@madmarc Yes, that's understandable. Unfortunately, the internet is no longer what it was ten years ago
Why not check out the Reed cage while working on the carburator
@@marioguzman9290 I had a peek in there they looked 👍
