It was that astonishing, and that remarkable... Sure, you can always play the game from the beginning with different choices and character style of Harry. Though, sadly, it won't give you the experience & feelings which we've all had in our very first playthroughs.
It is hard to explain how I feel about this soundtrack but definitely it mirrors the state of Harry, for me it is a mix of depresion but at the same time reconciliation with life and fate, which gives you a power to live and act, it is like being near insanity but not insane yet, being almost defeated but still fighting, this soundtrack (and the game) give me hope after all, some kind of internal peace; hmm I experienced similar stuff when watching Wim Wender's movies...

@@GuilhermeKiraSN I got really bad vibes from the opening sounds, but it grew on me with time. The part about not wanting it to end still stands tho, I was sooo ready to move on to Jamrock or sth.
Always thought the original order on the OST was a bit odd, but this is absolutely perfect, I really love the ambient interludes too. Thank you for this!
Out of every game I've ever played, Disco Elysium probably effected me the most. I played it when I was tired and stressed, unable to even speak to my family due to my throat being literally burned shut after months of illness, spending hours in bed exhausted and healing, with the streets of Martinaise being one of the few things able to distract me from the pain that the necessities of being alive caused me. Learning about Harry's self-destructive tendencies and my desire to see him get some form of a happy ending led me to identify my own self destructive tendencies. I tried to do a second playthrough, and when I heard Tiger King in the Void, my mind got flooded with all of the memories of the game, and I just cried, the memories of how all that Harry went through and his desire to forget, the memories of the ways that I had hurt the ones I love wrapped up and forever linked to those same memories of this game, now forever in the back of my mind. And forever in the back of my mind is the possibility of getting better, that if someone like Harry could get better, than maybe an idiot like me could too. This game fucking changed me

This game transcended being just a "game", for me there are scenes that will stick with me forever. I felt like I was right there with Kim experiencing them! I even bought a horrific necktie IRL, I'm considering hanging it from my ceiling fan 😹 Very well put together video, thank you for uploading!
I just listened to this while lying down on my bed- many things happening in-between as well At some point I sat with my legs hanging out of the window, I could feel rain on them and there was a breeze, bug sounds from the bushes My dad showed me a flashlight that lit the living room with so many colors like some disco ball Listening to the mix I cried so many times, and my lungs felt full all the way- thank you for making this mix, Disco Elysium is a miracle

@@hazelnotxyz Right, what made DE so good was that the story had been in the mind of one of the writers for a long, long time. Originally she wanted to write a novel, but she combined her vision with other writers, the result became DE. There was just so much artistic energy, long-term effort and desire to see this story through that went into it. A sequel for a sequels sake just couldn't equal that, and while I don't doubt the developers abilities, I think they definitely captured lightning in a bottle with this game. It can't be recaptured once it's out.
The only game that takes you from no idea whats going on to craziness, then hilarity, then insanity, then crushing saddness then to the feeling of being part of something greater in a span of few hours
The best game ever made. Writing is one a whole other level compared to other games, beautiful graphics and music, effortlessly hilarious, amazing voice acting and (somehow) also really fun turn-based RPG-style, text-heavy gameplay. All parts of the game are brilliant and it's still greater than the sum of its parts. It's a miracle a game like this even exists.
1:17:54 - Roy's Pawnshop gets to me. It's one of the only times I've felt shame in a video game. I went into Disco Elysium planning to screw around. But damn, his tone when he speaks, how he nicely asks you to not shine your flashlight at him, how he actually shares his drugs if you ask him, and of course his whole backstory.... Roy sucked that idea right out of me.
hah yeah Roy was a good character - and his pawnshop has quite the atmosphere to it, especially once you start talking to him (Like how the lights are set)
For a long time i was constantly quitting game, it's just so melancholic and it was pulling strings just where it hurts, i was feeling exhausted, but when i finally played it through i felt strange, something so beautiful, so heartbreaking just ended and i felt completely empty inside and for a mere moment i thought "it's beautiful that game made me fill all this emotions and it's sad because I will never feel the same." To conclude my experience with game quote: "Disco Inferno"
Ending the moralist quest, when Harry goes up on that statue and uses the sword that the fisherwoman gave him, trying desperately to make contact to "those who hold real power", trying desperately to make at least some difference in the world, and "Advesperascit" kicks in... and an almost "other worldly" being start speaking to him, finally explaining what is it that the moralists are trying to achieve, while Kim and Noid listen carefully, helping him, trying not to miss Harry's signal... i was completely taken by the game at that point, it was such a wonderful quest!
Unironically I would absolutely love a Disco-like Elder Scrolls game set in Morrowind. Truly flip the "wide as a lake, deep as a puddle" critique on its head! (though I'd have much more confidence in Obsidian than Bethesda pulling it off)
"The Cryptozoologists" amazing song. Talking to the Insulindian Phasmid is such a beautiful moment of the game. "La revacholiere" impossible not to remember the heartbreaking and sad dream of Harry with his wife.
🔥 Yes my Partner & I have always been fans they are One of the best Bands of the Millennium both on records & stage as we have seen them loads of times 🎸
Everytime I hear Red Rock Riveria, I tear up with joy and sadness. It's such a poignant piece that very much encapsulates this masterpiece of fiction. I consider it the theme song of this game personally. The colors it presents perfectly match the tones of Disco Elysium, figuratively and literally.
There is something strange about this soundtrack. The best way i can express it that explains why it is so impactful is that is sounds like it is played for the character before the player. If that makes sense. As though the whole experience of the narative is filtered through the role you play, music included. And that is why it works so well.
No other game has ever touched my heart this much. A brilliant soundscape of despair, melancholy, apathy and self-pity. This is one of those playlists that I'll be visiting regularly until my last day.
I've listened to this soundtrack many times, and the more I do, the more I realize that the reason why it works so well isn't just the great melancholy expressed in these songs, it's also the small almost optimistic-sounding lighter parts, that never quite feel "happy", but like there is a tiny sliver of light, but then it also fades and it goes back to the melancholy again. In a very twisted way, it's a rollercoaster of melancholy, cautious optimism and depression. Very moody, I love it. 10/10 would be depressed to these songs again.
I love the hanged man theme. It's so dark and perfectly fits the atmosphere of examining the body and performing the autopsy. It's like a funeral hymn for him.
This mix is mindblowing, if this was what the vinyl sounded like I would seriously sell my soul to own one. I came across this without much expectations, but after sitting here for over an hour I feel like I've been transported right back into the game. Thanks so much for this
Easily the best fan-mix of any soundtrack I ever heard. The little touches of blending the songs together and adding the sound effects. I love it all. Seriously good work.
This game’s soundtrack sounds so distant and fragmented at times, before becoming more pronounced and consistent as they progress. It’s almost like Harry is remembering old tunes that he can’t quite entirely recall, filling in the blanks as best he can, until, no matter if the song is accurate or not, he’s gets more confident with the composition and lets it gain a life all its own.
Your comment reminded me of William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops, where he kinda does the opposite: loops the tapes until they decay, recording their destruction. A similar work is Everywhere at the End of Time, a album about the onset of dementia. Try both if you're into strange experimental and ambient music.
more than a million words written for this game and i still cannot express with proper sentences how it changed my heart and mind... what a splendid world to live in
"0.4 seconds remain." What a track name. Those who played the game all know. Not quite used to having flight or flight active at the same time as such emotional acuity.
La Revachiolère/ The Insulindian track will be with me until my very last breath. I got the "True Detective" achievement just for living the moments I shared with my dog while she was alive. And still that game brought me even more while I was mourning her death. I've been playing video games since the early eighties, went through Mask of the Betrayer, all the fallout, Stalkers or Planescapes but this game is something else. Hobo Communist Superstar all the way!
I'd experienced this as well, and I don't think it's age. Disco Elysium feels like a game actually made for us - people who've been playing games for decades, and have grown up on the other side of a lot of life. While presenting a genuinely fresh take on how to play out a story with a rich cohesive artistic vision permeating the whole experience, uncompromised by monetisation or mimicry.
Thankfully there are still perfectionist game developers that brings games like this in gaming universe. It has been nearly a year since the date i first experienced it. Thank you ZA/UM for this unique masterpiece.
I really like how Whirling-In-Rags at 8 AM sounds muffled at first, reminding me of Harry's amnesiac awakening from slumber, and then music starts to get clearer
I once described this like this " imagine a game. Where the character can go from black to white in the ranges of emotion with all the shades of Gray in the middle but take out the black and white" dunno made sense ay the time
Something special about this game, amazing thought narrators and music. 💜 I just love "whirling in rags" all versions. It's like city saying "life can be hard, but it's life, it's supposed to be colorful, u can always find reason to smile"
this is such a minor thing, but thank you for putting a music note next to the track that's currently playing. A lot of other videos will just put time stamps in the description and I have to pause while I find which song I'm listening to
This game has changed me. Not instantly. It's effects slowly reverberating deeper like cracks in an ice sheet. New introspections, new thoughts, new feelings. A new perspective on my own White Mourning. Making the little guy smaller and smaller. Making him less me.
Ever reached the point of plotting out your IRL stat sheet according to the game traits & imagining dialogue for them to deconstruct your own internal conflicting impulses?
The only thing I wish for this game to have more "disco" tracks. The ones to which "disco people" parties to. And a dream night where Harry gets flashback glimpse of his party nights to those tracks. May there is, I haven't finished the game.
I like that there aren't any (as far as I know). One of the best things to happen to Harry is gone, dead and has completely disappeared from the world. Just like that other thing he keeps holding onto...
This is just...beautiful.. It was such an amazing and extraordinary game. It went under my skin, to the very bone and it's still there and every time I picture any of the scenes, it's chilling. More so with the music. .So THANK you OP for doing this. One day I will buy a gramophone and the OST on vinyl.. "Real darkness has love for a face. The first death is in the heart, Harry.."
This is one of the best OST’s ever made IMO. There’s just so much put in to this music. It sounds like a soundtrack for the blood running through your veins and the thoughts racing through your head - as if your body was an entire production deserving of its own soundtrack - the good, the bad and everything in between. What a great game!
This game is incredible. The story, the characters, the music. One cannot play this game and feel like it is just another game, it is so unique. My perception of my own body is changed now. Absolutely love it ! Thanks for the compilation, you made my day. Now, where is my car? Why does it smell of tequila in here ?
The sound of waking up hung over - not enough sleep. Yet the world on your shoulders that still need to be carried knowing only you can do it. Yet not really how - or if this is the last straw thats gonna break something. But you keep going - humble because somehow its so much worth it still. There's no food in the kitchen and its raining outside. Yet its the least of your concerns anyhow
Oh man, I played this game in a weird time of my life and it almost feels like a lucid dream I experienced. This video took me right back, thank you. Good times.
Thank you, ZA/UM for the game that you've created. A world that felt lived in before you joined, and a world that will continue to live far beyond you. For providing us with Harry, Raphael, Tequila, whichever you let us make him into. For providing us with Kim, a hand on our shoulder at a time where we could feel absolutely hopeless because of the task in front of us. And thank you to Sea Power for providing the soundtrack. What a game. Hopefully, one day, a sequel. Or another entry to Ravachol's timeline. But regardless, thank you.
I've been gaming for a long time. I've played so many I can't remember them all. I've heard so many soundtracks through the years. I will never forget Disco Elysium. Truly a masterpiece and one of those once in five years or so games that come along and, at least for my own personal taste, raise the bar to an almost unfair, unattainable level for every other game that comes after it.
*Kineema's arrival plays at the beggining of the game* Me: Cool, like...that's a car....yeah... *Kineema's arrival plays again, towards the end of the game* Me (sobbing and screaming violently): IT'S YOU, HARRY! YOU'RE THE INFERNAL ENGINE! (Sobbing resumes).

This game is a masterpiece and an epic storytelling experience. I love it and I say it has no competition to its Originality. Thanks to the Developers, Creators, and my favorite the subconscious Narrators in the game 👍😎

Amazing what one low pass filter can do for overall dynamics and atmosphere
It is hard to explain how I feel about this soundtrack but definitely it mirrors the state of Harry, for me it is a mix of depresion but at the same time reconciliation with life and fate, which gives you a power to live and act, it is like being near insanity but not insane yet, being almost defeated but still fighting, this soundtrack (and the game) give me hope after all, some kind of internal peace; hmm I experienced similar stuff when watching Wim Wender's movies...
1:58:27 - The Insulindian Phasmid, captures this perfectly, IMO.
@@fernandofaria2872 Yeah, 100% agree. I would also add: Main menu theme p2, Off We Go Into The Wild Pale Yonder, and definitely Tiger King.

In "Off We Go Into The Wild Pale Yonder", the guitar solo at the end sounds like the roar of a motor carriage ! Very original, conceptual and cool!
I don't know why but i don't like that one. I think it is prob because it's the credits I didn't want it to be over
@@GuilhermeKiraSN It will all end someday.

Always thought the original order on the OST was a bit odd, but this is absolutely perfect, I really love the ambient interludes too. Thank you for this!
Thank you! Actually, the order I've put these in is the order I discovered these areas in my first playthrough, hahah. Well, almost, but still.

This game fucking changed me
Existence is shit but we all could use some getting better for the sake of each other and ourselves.
One of the best in-game moments for me was when Kim was proud to be my partner. You and me, Kim. You and me.
+2 Kim *truly* trusts you.

Very well put together video, thank you for uploading!
Do it. I loved many of the jokes in the game... like that "Rigor mortis" thing... made me laugh like crazy for hours
One of them for me is the scene with two birds whistling together... Lonely, peaceful, touching,
I just listened to this while lying down on my bed- many things happening in-between as well
At some point I sat with my legs hanging out of the window, I could feel rain on them and there was a breeze, bug sounds from the bushes
My dad showed me a flashlight that lit the living room with so many colors like some disco ball
Listening to the mix I cried so many times, and my lungs felt full all the way- thank you for making this mix, Disco Elysium is a miracle
01:02:06 perfect music for one of the most touching moments in the game
i remember being all agressive and in her face with her husband being "missing". And when i actually found out her husband has died i had the biggest "oh fuck" moment i've had in all of my gaming experience.
I rarely leave comments, so apologies in advance this is weird, but I just wanted to say thank you so much for uploading this beautiful soundtrack. I am going to be honest, I never played the game and the most I know about it is that it has something to do with a detective, I think. I don't exactly recall what compelled me to click on this video in my recommendations months ago, but I am grateful that I did. This music, this video, has been a companion during long and stressful hours working into the night. It is actually the video I turn towards when I am at my utmost stressed and it just helps like magic. So thank you. Thank you for your time and effort for making this video. Thank you for putting this music up for strangers to stumble upon that would have had no chance of hearing it before. It truly means a lot. Wishing you nothing, but the best in life!
Play the game! even if you never play games in your spare time, it truly is an amazing experience. If you love the music, you will love all the different art media working together with the musis (iirc the game is now 10 euros on steam)
Play the game when you have a lot of time on your hands, theres a lot to take and it's really hard sometimes when you gotta go somewhere but you wanna keep playing. It's that engaging
Play the game and face the echoes of your own broken personality as you explore the dredges of the human condition. Or not. You do you.
@@stianyttervik9070 So eloquently put. This game was an artistic masterpiece that changed my life. And I've never said this about anything before or since.

Everything about this game is exceptional beyond belief, I'm excited to see what ZA/UM will bring us next.

The best game ever made. Writing is one a whole other level compared to other games, beautiful graphics and music, effortlessly hilarious, amazing voice acting and (somehow) also really fun turn-based RPG-style, text-heavy gameplay.
For a long time i was constantly quitting game, it's just so melancholic and it was pulling strings just where it hurts, i was feeling exhausted, but when i finally played it through i felt strange, something so beautiful, so heartbreaking just ended and i felt completely empty inside and for a mere moment i thought "it's beautiful that game made me fill all this emotions and it's sad because I will never feel the same."
To conclude my experience with game quote: "Disco Inferno"

This soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks there is and it so much demonstrates the mood of the game. Perfect game, perfect soundtrack. One of the best games ever for me.
🕊 I love their other Ones too but I have been a huge fan since the beginning buying the albums films & partying at shows great times over the last couple of decades 🎸
The music makes that final scene so surreal.
Whirling-In-Rags is such a good song. Simply gorgeous.
The band re-released it recently with lyrics on their latest album as “Fire Escape in the Sea”
Only a Morrowind fan could make something as delightful as this compilation. Nice username.
FINALLY, someone noticed! Thanks! Yeah, Morrowind's one of my favorite games of all time.
I felt so proud of myself for not giving up on the insulindian phasmid Quest on my first playthrough, when i saw It i was so happy that It was real...
Dude, Sea Power is so good.
And that is why it works so well.
going into kim kitsuragi withdrawal rn i need him back
No other game has ever touched my heart this much.
Thanks so much for this
Thank you, ZA/UM
Original ZA/UM, not the corporation ZA/UM.
Try both if you're into strange experimental and ambient music.
more than a million words written for this game and i still cannot express with proper sentences how it changed my heart and mind... what a splendid world to live in
"0.4 seconds remain."
What a track name.
I thought I'd never get hooked by a video game passed my thirties. I thought I had seen them all. I was wrong.
I just love "whirling in rags" all versions.

1:46:10 Holy shit I never noticed during that scene that you could faintly hear Dora saying "Harry".
Okey, fine, I will play it once more.
This is somewhere to be. This is all you have, but it's still something. Streets and sodium lights. The sky, the world. You're still alive.
Truly a game with the spiritual and emotional resonance of No Face! Whom I once cosplayed as.
